Those are great vocals for someone of all of their age, especially Mr. Arnold, being 94 at the time of recording. Jake was around 71, Ben was around 68 and Rex was around 66. They mustve had tremendous training to sing that good in their advanced age.

Blessed to grow up listening to Uncle Robert Arnold’s high tenor. He was married to Dad’s sister Cora. Dad had eight siblings, most sang and played something. After supper they would congregate at piano and sing beautiful harmonies for hours. Dad and Uncle Robert sang together with the “Overall Quartet” for a time. Last time I visited Robert he played and sang “No Tears In Heaven”. He passed at age 98. Wonderful memories.

He was from Coleman, Texas and taught solfege in singing schools. He also published hymn books with shape notes, and you will still find solfege song books in churches of Christ the world over.

I thank God Almighty for these people who love to sing God's praise.

If these madalas are singing wonders for God, what about me who's still very very young? I don't have to wait serving God. May God bless you. you are our good example to follow.

Not just you, Rex Nelon for me and many others was the best bass singer for the Gaither Homecomings, because of the dark colour of his voice.

Mr. Rex Nelon. Not the lowest, low enough though, and one of the 2 best, harmony/blending, basses, in Gospel music, ever. Super low isn't everything.
