    @@chrisst8922 I agree with you completely. In a lot of cases, his rhythm playing is what totally drives the song. A few, I Saw Her Standing There, You Can't Do That, their Roll Over Beethoven and R and R Music, All My Loving, I Want to Hold Your Hand...It goes on and on. Exquisite. The boy was pretty good at not just playing them, but coming up with those perfect chords all the time--Magic!

    This song and All my Loving are two songs that give Lennon credit for his great rhythm guitar abilities. Really drives the song like any good rhythm guitarist should

    This is great! The sound is so bright. I’m an old man now, I saw the Beatles in February 1964 when I was nine, on the Ed Sullivan TV show. Your guitar work is excellent!

    @@MichaelJohnson-lh7gs Oh yes. I was 8, in third grade at Midway School in Fellows, California. The school was K-8; a giant eighth grader came over and told my wonderful teacher, Mrs. Ridgway. We were let out of school for the day a little while later.

    Yeah,man! A fave of mine that never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Saw the film at the old Valencia theater on Jamaica Avenue when it first came out-it was like seeing them in person. Shouts and singalongs-"I love you,Paul!",etc. What a time...

    J'ai toujours aimé le RIF DE GUITARE de John sur cette chanson qu'il a écrite à l'intention de George pour le film A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. Tout comme la chanson All my loving, on peut reconnaître les INFLUENCES DU BANJO sur lequel, sa mère JULIA lui a enseigné à jouer une première pièce THAT I'LL BE THE DAY ! Dommage que cette chanson n'ait jamais obtenu le crédit qu'elle mérite ! Elle figure dans mon TOP 5 de la première période du groupe. Une chanson dynamique qui traduit bien cette merveilleuse époque YÉYÉ

    Those triplets were Lennon's secret weapon. "That Boy", "All My Loving", this song, etc. It probably goes back to his early days learning banjo chords, which is also where his chord shapes came from.

    Hey Nick, I always played George Harrison's guitar parts in all of their tunes, when I played in two different Beatles Tribute bands, as well as a British Invasion Group and I have to say, you nailed Lennon's guitar part. JL was an excellent guitar player, extremely creative in usually dead on with tripplets or anything else he played. This song showcases his talent, sort of like All My Loving does. Both songs are difficult for a lot of guitarists to get through without screwing up, but you did an excellent job.

    Stand up and take a bow Nick! John Lennon had no equal when playing the rhythm guitar. Studio musicians would have starved around The Beatles recording sessions.

    @@endi3386 - the session players they used were virtually always for classical orchestration sounds , violins, brass , flutes etc which they added to their songs. They were always a highly competent musicians in rock / pop outfit who played their own guitars/ bass / drums/ piano /harmonicas etc .

    Those verse changes are buttah. I was watching an XTC cover recently and they also had really inventive chord changes in the verses. It's pretty easy to see a direct link between the two bands, even though I don't recall many people talking about it in the early 80s.
