Your stories of large families always hit home with me. I'm the oldest of six, and my mother is one of 13. My mom's siblings all have 4 or 5 kids, so if you go to this little town in Connecticut and yell their last name, 80% of people will turn around and 20% will point to one. The only time I saw my grandmother out of the kitchen was in church.

Actually talking to the wall could be even more effective. Your voice will echo off the wall slightly and could be considered feedback or something akin to a response which is a lot more than what you get back from some teenagers!

Sometimes a kid is just lost and no one can get through to them. But more often than not, they hear you. Even if they don't learn as young adults they usually grow into great adults after having their own kids.

And then,my husband & dad died 3 hr apart ..no income as an injured/ill ICU RN, awaiting disability- now foreclosure no car... from PTA mom Girl Scout cookie mom book fair mom Dan's mom cheer mom basketball mom to literally stuck in bed almost 24/7 can't leave the house and the depressed as hell. Where do we go we have nowhere to go😢😢 parenting is hard no matter what age they are

After 39yrs RN, having weakness, fatigue, blurry vision,sob, couldn't work, went through diagnostic hell,denied disability,living in substandard house was rehabbing. 3yrs and legal aid got disability,7neuros,2muscle biopsies they disagree with pathology I demanded mestinon trial as they wanted me in LTC at 60!! Has helped tremendously but they claim triple sero negative MG is so rare it couldn't possibly be me. Now there's national shortage of mestinon. I vacillate between despair,terror, feeling like a failure and struggling with desire to do bilateral carotid massage on every person who tells me to pray more,be positive and do more. My support system is pets, estranged son so he's not polluted by these struggles. I hate what nursing did to me. You are not alone.

Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems.

Thank you so much for making me laugh so much in a hard part of my life

Dark Pale, aptly named. I'm not even a husband, and my biggest laugh was at the end where he says "I'm gonna kill her." Because you won't of course, but you stay with someone long enough... Of course, women with men have it much easier, as we are simply beacons of joy:)

I can assure you, Jim, that your kids hear almost everything you tell them. I'm 64 with a 41 year old and that kid (adult now) is proof that I wasn't just talking to myself or the walls. You will be amazed when they actually have kids of their own because you will then start to see yourself in them. Those same words or stories you told them, they will use as they raise their own. Often I hear repeated to me a "remember when you told me" and I was sure glad I listened or I should have listened. More often than not you find out you did a decent, good, or excellent job raising them. Of course, there are those few kids that you just can't get through to, they are hopelessly lost.. Hopefully, that won't be the case with any of yours.
