I'm Cancelling The Series | RUFFCUT S1E15

Спорт

This is the end of RUFFCUT season one. I haven't been able to hit my objectives in many of the episodes and I felt like it was only getting worse. I'll be scaling back to releasing one or two longer videos per week. I hope you understand and I appreciate your support.
RUFFCUT is my vlog series. It's not cinematic, it's not perfect and what I say only makes sense half of the time. I massively enjoy making these because I can take some of the pressure off by default. I hope it's also fun to watch! I post an episode every other day and the first season will include 20 episodes.
You can support me on / rollife by joining the SQUAD!

    I think your episodes are great dude! Entertaining, informative and very well produced. I do agree that moving to a one episode per week will allow you to be more mindful of each episode and not feel like you have to force content plus it won't burn you out. It's all about the long game and pacing. I also wouldn't kill yourself over a certain time frame. Let the content drive the length. Keep your head up, we all love the channel! Sometimes we are our worst critics too.

    Oh 100%. I know that I'm often very harsh on everybody around me, but not many people actually know how harsh I am on myself. I hold myself to ridiculous standards. I know that. I know that I could've taken that footage and made every edit twice as long. Everybody, except for myself, still would've liked them. But that's life. That's why I'm not where some of you guys are in terms of the numbers even though I've definitely got the quality. I'm just making it harder for myself to succeed. You don't even wanna know how many videos I've had finished on my laptop that never came out. But if I release every other day, I can't affort to hold footage back, so everything goes up - good or bad. That just bugs me 😅🤷🏼‍♂️

    @@dawsdep Thanks so much, I appreciate that comment! Look, I've been doing this for years now. I tried to quit, but I couldn't. I need this. If you look at all of the work I've done and then look at the numbers, you can tell that the only reason I'm still here is a massive passion for skating and a drive to inspire others.

    Within quality, creativity and entertaining. Out of the 10 people I know that make these videos you’re in the top 3 man. What you’re doing is dope. It takes time and a lot of energy but it’s worth it to us. Keep shredding!

    I appreciate that so much man! I just have a certain vision of what I want things to look like. I know that it's gonna be worth it to commit to that vision and I know that you guys will understand what exactly I was talking about, once you see those projects. I've got stories to tell that take more time that two days...

    I guess, yeah. But there's more for me. I want more than that. I have stories to tell. It's gonna be good. One day you will understand me... that's something I strive towards. It's not always easy if you are a creative mind with many brilliant ideas but you struggle to translate them into reality. I hope you understand.

    Have you considered blending your city flow skates with the random aggressive spots you find? I think that’s where your niche lies. My favorite videos of yours were from when you were doing the random hill bombs, or trying to show new and interesting spots that you’ve found. Like how a line in skating includes the approach, the grind, and the exit, I think the story of how you got to the spot, what you did there, and how you left it can also be an interesting story.

  • @rollife

    Ha! That sounds very nice in theory. But reality is that I know where the spots are, because I've been scouting for hours on google maps and on big wheels, then I take a train to whatever city it's in, probably take another bus or tram, arrive at the spot, warm up and skate. There is no doing-a-random-hillbomb-and-all-of-the-sudden-finding-a-perfect-ledge. As cool as it would be, it doesn't happen. Oh, and there's no random hillbomb in the first place - I always check things out beforehand. If you go street skating almost every day, you just need to be prepared and know your shit, otherwise you're just wasting too much time. Of course, every once in a while I'll stumble upon a random spot, but that's the exception and probably doesn't make for a good video. I know what you mean, I can see the concept in front of me. I could do it, but now that you know how it actually works, you can see that every 'spontaneous' vlog would be completely staged and that's not really my thing.

    Oh and I forgot something: When I leave my last spot of the day, I'm fucking exhausted, take my skates off and put my camera in my backpack. So I guess there goes the exit 😅🤷🏼‍♂️

    I have a different vision man. I definitely appreciate you trying to help out. But you'll see once I get to release these projects. You'll understand what I meant the whole time and I guarantee you that you'll be stoked. I'm not talking vlogs here, I'm talking more like short films.

    I think sometimes you are too ambitious. You don't need to promise a schedule, just put out what and when feels good and avoid that pressure. I've really been enjoying the shorter videos so keep up the good work.

  • @rollife

    @rollife

    Oh I am super ambitious. I hold myself to ridiculous standards and obviously I can't keep up often times. It's not so much a promise to you guys as it is a promise to myself. The only way I can really push myself is through pressure. Half of those RUFFCUT episodes wouldn't have happened if I didn't have the pressure to make them every other day. Pressure is good. Everything you see on this channel has been produced under pressure. If I only did what felt good then we'd probably have a two-videos-per-year type of situation. Trust me, you don't want that 😅🤷🏼‍♂️
