68mm Wheels on FLT3 Frames | RUFFCUT S1E4

Спорт

I put the Undercover Richie Eisler 68mm 2nd Edition wheels in my Groundcontrol Featherlight 3 frames and it works!
Since I only skate with two wheels on the ground, I want to make sure they're a little bit bigger. The main benefit is obviously the extra speed I get compared to a 60mm or a 58mm wheel. A nice side effect is also that they last longer since I can ride them down to about 60mm. I didn't feel any difference/restraints while grinding.
RUFFCUT is my vlog series. It's not cinematic, it's not perfect and what I say only makes sense half of the time. I massively enjoy making these because I can take some of the pressure off by default. I hope it's also fun to watch! I post an episode every other day and the first season will include 20 episodes.

    I think anti with larger outer wheels is the way to go. I'm on 62 at the moment (not that big really) but gonna put 65's in soon. Great content keep it coming.

    Thanks man! Yeah it's not like riding flat but it's skateable... and I love it for grinding, of course!

    I just fitted 68's on some Remz Josiah Blee with GC FLT3 frames! Only a bit of shaving on the base of the frame and in the soulplate at the heel, about 1mm. They just fly.

    It’s a really cool feature that GC don’t really advertise. 64mm is the biggest these frames work with no modification on soul plates with no wheel wells. I have shifts now which have wells and was wondering how much I’d have to remove to get in 68’s! I don’t think I’d skate any smaller than a 64 minimum anymore now I’ve got used to the speed they provide on anti rocker. Loving these ruff cuts btw, the editing the music and that style of talking to the camera in a short format with tips and thoughts are great. ✌️

    Thanks man, I appreciate it! For the 68's it's really just a tiny little bit you need to carve out of the base (as you can see at 1:58 ) and, depending on the wheel wells, you might not even have to do too much there... I imagine it's similar to what people do in order to fit 72's in Oysi frames.

    I also modified my kizer fluid IV frames which is also an anti rocker frame, to fit exactly the same wheels 68mm Richie Eisler, they go amazing but I don't know if I weakened my frames, right now I'm using my stock wheels 58mm because for me it is a little fast in the skate park I'm a little bit new to aggressive skating, my plan is to use my 58mm wheels until I get used to skate park and when stock wheels are over switch to 68mm wheels. How is your experience so far? is your frames still in one peace? do you go to skate park and skate bowls and make some jumps? I'm afraid my frames lost some durability, so I don't know how much I could push them, I mainly avoid big falls because in fear of maybe frames could be broken

    Fresh!

Erster Spot: Bern, Schulhaus Steigerhubel Zweiter Spot: Bern Wankdorf beim Fussballstadion

    Mate, what do you think about skating flat on flt3?

  • @rollife

    @rollife

    It's okay for skating rails and maybe skateparks but I almost exclusively skate street ledges... There are many frames out there that are better for skating flat. This frame is designed to skate anti rocker.

    How much modification for 68mm FLAT though? Also interested in 65mm flat..

    Not much. A tiny bit on the frame base (literally like 1-2mm only) and a little bit on the soulplates if you don't have wheel wells already. Just check the detailed shots in the video, you can see how little it is. There's nothing better for 65mm flat than the Groundcontrol Mega frame, so I would recommend that. I just always struggled to find good 65mm wheels, so I settled for a 60mm flat on the USD Aeons right now.

    @@rollife I can see how little the mod is for 65mm in your video, but what about 68mm on the inner?? Would it be too much modification? Thanks for reply and the great video btw! I am interested in a cruiser frame. Im loking at possibly getting 68mm flat into FLT3, or 65mm flat if that fails. I also want to try getting 68mm into GC Mega...do you think it could be done?

  • @rollife

    @rollife

    @@GeorgeWPush you can't fit more than 58mm in the middle on the flt3. You'd have to cut out half of the h-block to get 68mm in positions 2 and 3. What I did is put 68mm in positions 1 and 4 (that's where my little mod comes into play) and anti rocker wheels in the middle.You also can't put 68mm in the Mega frame. only 65mm. If you want to fit 68mm in the Megas, you'd also have to cut into the h-block, which hardly makes sense. In a nutshell: Yes, it's almost always possible to fit bigger outer wheels than the frames are designed for, but trying to fit bigger inner wheels is not a good idea.
