I'm sorry for the super long intro, but I needed to explain myself. Thank you for keeping the channel alive while I dealt with my addiction. I'm embarrassed to share this, and disappointed in myself that I let it get a hold of me like it did. Even though it's hard for me to share this, I needed to be transparent with you as I owe much of everything I've built in my life to the viewers and supporters. Here is to a new era of the Phlydaily Channel! Healthy Channel Healthy Life. You guys rock, thank you again for checking in on me and the channel. Oddbawz was supposed to post his video today as well, but he forgot to clear out his SSD and it didn't record 😭 Playing with him later today so a Phly and Odd video should be out on this channel this week. Also if anyone wants to pre sub to DriveDaily here it is :P - kzread.info/dron/5F8ol5G50od7UMpPYfzrdw.html

Michael, you are more than your addiction. You always have been and you always will be. I know that the struggle of an addict so often leads to them to defining themselves by that addiction, but you are worthy of so much more than that label. Recognizing your struggle and guarding your life and your heart against it is always the key to overcome it. Just remember that who you are is not defined by the label of addict, and the life that you have is worthy of being lived just as much as you are worthy and capable of being loved.

My dad was an alcoholic. He beat it and other addictions like smoking. It cost him, triple bypass and eventually cancer, but he lived with some luck into his 80's, having decided to go sober after my mom died in her mid 40's. While you're in for a lifelong battle, the greatest resource is family and knowing that you have a problem. After that every step away and into a healthier lifestyle will get easier. I never started drinking because seeing my dad and his struggle was hard enough. I figured I didn't want to walk in his footsteps. But, like with everything, it did effect me and it did leave a mark on me. While you are doing all of this for yourself, it is good to know that you're helping the rest of the family deal with it as well.

I’m 3 years 6 months and 24 days sober. I was a blackout drunk for 22 years. Hospitalized 5 times, 2 life flights almost died 3 times all from drinking. Went to rehab and learned how to live life. Sobriety has to be done for yourself. If you’re doing it for others it’s never going to last. Help yourself before you can help others. Alcoholics have to put as much effort into sobriety as they put into drinking. I’m happy for you Phly.

I'm an adult now and I have to say that your life has always in some way seemed parallel to mine. In this case, these last few months have been very harsh on me as well, and I've recently just broken through. To see you upload again and be truthful has furthered my once again happiness, I just wanted you to know that. Even though a youtube/community medium you have always helped me and so with that said, I am sure that you are and will always be the best father to your children. Hey Phly, thanks for telling your story. Now let me tell you mine. It’s 100% true. 2020 in March when the world shut down, I was laid off for two months, I ruined a 7 year relationship and picked up a bottle, but at the same time I found your channel. I bought the only laptop I could afford and downloaded war thunder using a mom and pop restaurants Wi-Fi. For the next year and a half if I wasn’t at work, I was at the bar and if I wasn’t there I was playing war thunder. I was finally able to realize I had a problem, I poured all my liquor down the sink, I quit going to the bars, I played a lot of war thunder. Through you I found Odd so when he told his story I related to it so much. Fast forward a couple years sober and I fixed that relationship and we’re getting married in July. This past weekend my grandfather passed away and once again as I move into a hard time in my life Phly and Odd are back. This is honestly the biggest I’ve smiled on several days, Thank you Phly, for everything.

Remember; there's no such thing as a recovered alcoholic. You can never touch the stuff again - no matter what! You will always have to be aware that you will always be an alcoholic. Just stay sober! Some days will be harder than others, but hang in there - you'll get through the tough times every time. Never forget why you don't drink anymore. Those kids are a great motivation. PS. Let's hope the car is not a Cybertruck. 😆

Yeah, there’s totally such a thing as a recovered alcoholic. I drank for 20 years straight without missing a day, then quit. Drank hard too. Didn’t touch anything for about 4 years after quitting and for the last y years or so I might have a drink at dinner, maybe 2, but never drink at home, nor do I even want to. I despise this disease/victim thing. When you stop drinking, you’re no longer an alcoholic.

As a result his relationship with my mother broke down and he was not present in my life as much as he could or should have been. I lost the chance to have a normal relationship with my dad because of his addiction. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for starting this journey, for caring enough about them to put the work in. Good to hear you are doing better, I know it can be hard. I struggled with alcohol for decades and was very similar to you, I was a high functioning alcoholic. My problem also was a hold over from college, but then I also had 4 years in the military during peak GWOT which put my drinking into overdrive. I used drinking as a coping mechanism for years, any problems I would have I just ignored and drank it away. I stopped cold turkey 4 years ago, I knew if I kept traveling down that road my problems would catch up to me and the drinking would eventually kill me. I have never regretted the decision I made 4 years ago, the first couple of months were a bit of a struggle, but eventually the cravings went away the problems got dealt with. Now when I think about drinking it literally makes me sick to my stomach, and I am reminded about the way I would feel the next day. I have watched you since the early days of closed beta in WT, and I have had the chance to see you and your family grow. Take care of them and you first, they are what really matter in this life. The community will be here waiting patiently, while we wait we can spread some love to some of the other creators. I enjoy Oddbawz and Spookston who I probably would have never found without watching your channel. Thank you for update, and I wish nothing but the best for you and your family.

Thank you so much for realizing this early and doing what's right for your phamily. My dad was apparently an alcoholic (Marine Corps habit), but he was never drunk in front of my brother or myself, and it never directly affected us but he started going to AA meetings around when my brother graduated high school. He's been sober for, heck I don't even know how long. Easily over 10 years, maybe 15. Since then, I've noticed a massive change in just how present he is and how attentive he is. Looking back through my childhood, I can easily see the difference when it seemed like he just wasn't there. He was, but not at all the same. He seemed distant. Maybe he seemed depressed. I don't know, I wasn't very attentive then either. But since he got sober, he has been the absolute best dad I could ever ask for. Always there. Always looking out for us. Always checking in. Just being exactly what a dad should be. I am so happy your family gets to experience the real you for such a long time. And I am so happy you get to be there for all of the little moments that make life worth it. Please remember, family first. Sober you is the real you. Let it shine.
