Popcorn may be more common, but when I have the time, I throw together a batch of Crispy Roasted Chickpeas for movie night.

Love the video! Seems like some of us know the secret of these little gems. Love how they take on the flavor of whatever you add but just bring that here I am flavor.

I actually like these completely toasted as well as the way you make them toasted outside kind of softer on the inside. I love the fully toasted style on top of salads.

@@cyrusatkinson3307 I like that idea. I'll have to give it a try next time i make a small batch. most times i am doing at least 2 cans to make it worth my while and my air fryer can't handle that much. at least not in a single layer. I might end up with a chickpea brick if i added 2-3 cans in it haha.
i love the accessibility of this video, the temp is listed in both normal and fahrenheit, and there’s an emphasis on the options!! you can customise your seasoning, and my man even gives options for the baking paper or not! i dislike videos that follow a strict “you need to do this” type thing, and this is the opposite and again, i love it!
Thanks. No nonsense or silliness. Right to the point. I'll try it this weekend.

Would you consider them a meal if you eat a 15 oz can?
I bet an air fryer would work well. I’m glad he made the point of crispy on outside and soft in the middle. I would have thought the whole thing is supposed to be crispy. I imagine it would be too hard to bite if the whole bean is crunchy.

Simple, yet thorough explanation. Thank you!
Totally just made this after watching your video. They came out great.
Thanks for the recipe! I don't really care for popcorn so this would make for a great alternative. Also, you should try baby chickpeas(chickpeas that are still inside the pod). Really simple recipe, you just toast them and season with only salt(or tajin), adding a little bit of water at the beginning to get the inside chickpea nice and soft. Once the pod is slightly toasted on the outside, you take them out, wait a few minutes to cool and enjoy.
Saved your video to my recipe section. Thank you! Very healthy!
❤❤❤ anyone else notice the serving bowl....looks like a whole bunch of pearls in an oyster shell.......FABULOUS ❤❤❤
I would recommend having the oven up to temp before you start mixing the oil and seasoning. I did it with Tajin and ate way too many before they even made it to the oven. LOL

I'd bet that Tajin would be great on roasted hominy, also.
I have been making these for a while in he airfryer for years, really is fantastic, black beans also turn out pretty well.

@@phaedrussocrates7636 They're the canned ones, just drain them. The dried "raw" ones that you'd find in bags are hard as rocks and would need to be cooked in water first. Canned are much easier.

Sounds awesome .. will try. Also, another video showed you could very easily de-shell these by soaking in water for a minute and gently squeezing them. The shells float to the surface and you just skim. Might be a good step.
I have been doing something very similar but I first microwave the chickpeas for 8min while the oven is preheating, then oil/seasoning, then bake at 400F for 30min.
I’m going to try it. Thanks!
Interesting. These look really good. Would have never thought of this.
you could make these Hummus-seasoned, then grind them up, and make instant hummus mix - just add water.
Awesome. I'm going to give this a try.

I'm definitely gonna try these for the next movie night! :3
these look amazing thanks for the recipe!
Love them! I use the convection setting on my oven because I likethem crunchy! Also use a trick from Cook's country where you place them on a paper towel lined plate(spread out), cover with another paper towel and nuke on high for 5-7mins. Helps to start the drying method and cuts down on oven time. Getting the skins off is the worst part of the process but worth it.

Hmmm im going to give this a try definitely sounds like a good idea ,I want to also try popping quinoa but that im not sold on yet

I'm working on getting all seeds out of my diet, but I might have to try this on a cheat day 😜
Gotta try it
Yum, trying this tonight.
I use an air fryer came out perfect every time
Looks like I learned something new today. Had no idea you could make them like this. Will try them out. Thanks
Is this something that you can make up a head of time and just have on hand for a quick snack or is it something that needs to be enjoyed fresh. Also if pre-makeable, How to store them, jar on the counter, zip lock bag in the freezer what level of care is needed? I guess that also depends on how you choose to season/ flavor them.
Thanks for sharing that easy recipe. I love my popcorn, but will give that a try. Cheese flavored garbanzo beans might taste really good. God bless!!!!!!!!!!
What we found in a nut mix are (i guess) freeze dried corn pieces and they‘ve become by far our favourite now. Sadly we haven‘t found them being sold seperately, they only come in these Nut mixed. ☹️
For me those are not a substitution for poporn but for nuts instead. They are both legumes so it makes sense at least for me. But I will definitly try them since I expect some more exotic flavours will go way better with this.
Thanks been looking for more healthy alternatives to snacks I do this with almonds I buy peel myself add a little bit oil bit of butter (Not margarine) garlic & salt practically the same cooking method the smell gets everyones mouth watering allow to cool on paper towel absorbing any excess oil but they nice as hot nuts also.
I have a bunch of spices I am going to try. But I am also thinking that at the end, to sprinkle some grated romano cheese on them.
Hi Ru these are called stragalia here in Greece.
Considering we rarely use our garbanzo besides in chili and the water in the can for some egg-free merengue, I might be able to swing this by my mother for movie night, since she hates popcorn for getting stuck in her bridge.
