For all those wondering about the calorie content, etc: For a healthier version, this should and can be roasted in the oven. My version is shaking the rinsed beans in 1/2 tablespoon oil (in a Tupperware container with the lid on), then adding the spices together in a separate dish, pouring it all over the beans and shaking it again in the closed container. Line a baking pan with foil, spray with butter or oil spray, then bake at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes or until crisp. Shake the beans around on the pan a few times during baking. Total calories: 375, total fat 12g. As a 12-year Lifetime Member at Weightwatchers and former coach, this is a version that I find both healthy and delicious.

I've done this with great success. Interestingly, I have better success with my toaster. ... I have a unique toaster that works both as a push down toaster and as a toaster oven toaster. Love that thing, though it is no replacement for a normal toaster oven. It made these super crispy in a jiffy! Also, this process can be taken to the point of the beans being dry all the way through and therefore an excellent potato chip substitute!

I straight up was not prepared for how good this was. The whole time I kept thinking that it would make the taste of the chickpeas more tolerable. They weren’t, it magically transformed them into the tastiest food I currently have in my kitchen and I can’t wait to make another batch. You aren’t a cook, you are some kind of wizard and I cannot thank you enough!

Well after cooking if you toss in handful of diced onion and tomatoes and add drops of lime optional(if you want more sour) , and lastly garnish with coriander leaves..it will give the kick. This is a very old Indian recipe. Cooked mostly during Ramadan.

tera simon I had the same Rachel ray Oil and Vinegar set I bought from Kohls. It Rusted in no time. It is cumbersome, heavy and hard to control flow, meaning way to much oil and vinegar comes out. I don't recommend it. I threw it out.

tera simon Just purchase an old fashioned glass salt shaker with the chrome lid...like you see in the restaurants, and it's great for 'sprinkling' oil on things before you bake them. I use it on potatoes cooked with skins, mashed down on a cookie sheet, sprinkle oil over them and your choice of seasonings, bake in a 365deg. oven till they get a bit crispy and brown. Sooooo delicious. p.s. even an ordinary glass vinegar sprinkler with the chrome type lid will work for sprinkling cooking oil on things. :)

Ok...They take a few minutes to brown...and I had to add a drizzle more EVOO when cooking. For us, I will back off the amount of salt, and keep the Turmeric I added, because we like Turmeric...They are quite tasty, and certainly not hard to do...I will roll the beans in Paper towels next time to make sure they are very dry....maybe the seasoning will stick better. All in all worth doing again. Be great for a Soup/Salad Topper too. Thanks for the Recipe...

1Toffeey Yeah, I am eating the ones I made now and the spices stuck to the bottom of the frying pan - not the beans. Sigh. I cooked them longer because there wasn't a "crust" on most of the beans and now the beans are dryish inside.

Pauline Kinloch Every grocery store here has them in the vegetable aisle by the kidney/black/cannelini/pinto beans (S&W, Bush's, Finest, etc). If you want to get dry & cook them yourself as needed that works too. Most are labeled "garbanzo" but some say "chickpea".
