I Learned to Speak Spanish in 96 Hours Straight

Ойын-сауық

For the first week of my 30-day Spanish challenge, I decided to try and learn to speak conversational Spanish in one week from scratch. Before starting this challenge I spoke almost no Spanish, and my goal was to see how much I could learn in just 5 days solely by putting maximal effort into conversational practice. Can you learn to speak Spanish in just one week by abandoning traditional language classes? By disregarding textbooks? Even without memorizing vocabulary? You can judge for yourself the results!
Thanks so much to my friend Nate for helping out with this video! Be sure to check out his channel at: / natesadventures
Here are links to some of the resources I used to learn Spanish this week as mentioned in the video (none of these are sponsored and I’m not making any affiliate money if you sign up for these services):
For online tutoring I used Baselang, which offers unlimited Spanish tutoring with teachers based in Latin America (mostly Colombia and Venezuela). There are occasional hiccups with Internet connectivity but overall I quite enjoyed the quality of the teachers and the Baselang curriculum itself. bit.ly/3oIStFk
The course I used initially to give me a good foundation in Spanish was called “Spanish Uncovered” by the polyglot Olly Richards, which is a way to learn Spanish naturally through stories. I really enjoyed it, and it seems to be an excellent way to get a good foundation in a new language. bit.ly/3pPB0we
For finding Spanish speakers to do language exchange with, I used a great app called Tandem, which lets you find people from around the world to practice languages with (not just Spanish). www.tandem.net/
For finding random strangers to video chat with in Spanish (like Omegle or Chatroulette), I found a website called Bazoocam, which has a Spanish section. bazoocam.org/es/ (WARNING: this site is definitely not safe for work or for children. Like Omegle you will almost certainly encounter people exposing themselves - along with plenty of people who just want to chat!)
The game I was playing in where you can talk with people from around the world is called VRChat. It’s a really fun game and great for language practice, but note that you may encounter some NSFW stuff or sexual content here as well. www.vrchat.com/

Disappointing, but i guess not everyone can learn a language easily, it depends on your personality, your desire to learn it (always preferred Spanish, even now) and a different type of intelligence.

Keep it up! I can speak French and Italian already, along with Japanese, German, of course English, and two aboriginal languages of the West Coast of Canada (honoured to be allowed to be learning these), so I am going to try your way with Spanish before going there later in the year. I’m Spanish and I’m actually quite impressed by this guy. However, I would like to know if he already knew some other Mediterranean language, as when American English-speakers try to learn Spanish they often find it difficult to pronounce some specific phonemes which aren’t used in English, and I realized they don’t seem to be an obstacle for him. Of course, he may just have an excellent hearing. Anyways, he must be very intelligent, congrats!

I have been practicing Spanish for almost 6 months and only understand basic words because it isn’t the only language I’m learning right now. I’m actually try to learn Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, and Latin all at once which makes the process a lot slower than learning just one language at a time. It’s difficult at first but I’m making good progress and as time goes on I’m sure Spanish will gradually become easier and easier to understand. Practicing always helps in the long run no matter how long it takes to master something.

Why americans say “amigo” or “mi amigo” when they are learning Spanish? That’s weird for me as a native spanish speaker. They also say “señorita, señor” we rarely use those words in the context they do

Its because amigo is a formal way instead of any different slangs used in every different country. For example, amigo in different countries: Causa, pata (Perú). Pana (Colombia). Chamo (venezuela). Wey (Mexico).
