I Learned Rwanda's Language - And Got Ripped Off (#76)

If you really want to know Rwanda, you need to learn their language - Kinyarwanda. Unlike other African countries that have tens or even hundreds of different tribal languages, Rwanda has just one, and you really need it to talk with most people. English and French only go so far here. Being the crazy person that I am, I decided to learn it, and I went to the main market of Kigali to get some practice.

That being said, I love how your travels have led you to learn certain languages like Kinyarwanda, which would be much more difficult to learn at the pace you did outside the country. Going forward, I would love to spend a few weeks in one country like you did there and be able to converse in the local language somewhat fluently.
