    If they gave it to him again guys like Perkins would continue the race card bs. He’s done it 4 times easily but they gave it to Embiid. Not a knock on him but he lost it … again to Jokic. It’s just hard to a guy like Jokic to any active or retired player. He’s that freaking good. Dude has better touch than half the PG’s and SG’s. He didn't even palm the ball before passing it, and the pass needed to be so precise as to be out of the defender's reach by like half an inch. It was jaw-dropping, and quite frankly, even NFL quarterbacks aren't always as precise.

    Jokic shoots in the post like a mosquito flies. He is very unpredictable when he is going to shot. The fact that he does not jump when he shoot, and that he is tall enough to get the shot high enough, allows him to shot the ball in a fraction of a second. The ability to shoot fast allows him to be unpredictable. In addition he is awesome with floaters, and uncomfortable shots. He also searches the angle and reads the defender. He does some type of wrestling shot. He gets around the opponent in a way he can't block him no matter if he is taller, longer, or can jump to the roof.

  • @Phantom_Zone

    @Phantom_Zone

    And that's not all. Jokic also has an insane spatial awareness. So he can make insane passes. Whenever he raises the ball you need to make a split second decision if he's gonna pass or shoot or just strong arm through the defense. Jokic has options. And that makes him dangerous. He can drop a deep three. As he can come and do a lay up. Or thread the needle for an insane pass. You simply can't guard him on angel.

  • @IvanGarcia-cx5jm

    @IvanGarcia-cx5jm

    26 күн бұрын

    @@Phantom_Zone I totally forgot this. He is one of the best passers in the NBA, the defender can't forget that. While he focus on scoring he has also in his mind 2 or 3 possible passes he can make to different players. He is playing chess with the passes and the scoring. Very efficient in scoring and passing. He is very aware of the offense dynamics and smart in helping the team to take optimal strategies for scoring, and that strategy does not always involves him because he is unselfish. Many times it could be a hockey assist which is not included in the NBA stats. His focus, IQ, humility, heart, skill makes him one of the best players in NBA history. No wonder why his teammates love him. I feel they got really together after game 2 blow out. I thought that the fact that they got humiliated all equally in game 2 would bring their focus and unity. And that was not good for the Wolves.

    Rudy isn’t a “worse” defender than other all time great defenders… he’s just optimized for the modern NBA… which doesn’t apply to Jokic Yes guys like Hakeem or Ben Wallace would fair better in the Jokic matchup… but looking back to the 1st round, they would fair worse against KD, who Rudy did a great job against That’s why the blaming of Rudy is dumb… he is that quality of defender, but what it means to be that good defensively in the modern NBA is different than 20 years ago because the league is different… in that sense guys like Hakeem or Ben Wallace wouldn’t necessarily be as good as Rudy in the modern nba because they are specialized defenders… and what Rudy lacks in that specialization he makes up for with greater versatility Hakeem isn’t a better defender than kawhi simply because Kawhi can’t stop Pat Ewing… because Hakeem can’t guard 1-4 to nearly the extent Kawhi can, and in the modern NBA that’s more important… the same thing could be said about every all time great defender… what makes them great is contextual to the league they play in… and unfortunately for Rudy, this matchup doesn’t call for greater versatility, and the context in which he’s amazing doesn’t apply to jokic

    The 2010s really were a Dark Age for NBA Centers, where the best ones were usually just rim protectors and rim-runners who weren't really offensive focal points themselves, so post defense wasn't really prioritized. In the 2020s there are more skilled bigs who play a bigger role in their offense and you have to be able to handle them 1v1.

  • @willcollins1146

    @willcollins1146

    25 күн бұрын

    @@heavylobster4339 exactly… its not about the quality of defender, its about the changing NBA requiring a different archetype of defender Take someone like Draymond, for example: arguably a top 3-5 defender of all time; however, he’s not nearly the post or rim protector that many of the other all time great defenders are because he’s 3-6 inches shorter than most of them… you might ask, then, why he’s considered an all time great defender… and the answer is quite obvious: being a great defender in the modern nba is more a question of versatility then specialization. Whereas in previous eras where positionless basketball hadn’t been invented yet, being a great defender was more 1-dimensional Rudy, while being asked to be a rim protector, is also asked to switch, hedge, etc…. And so him being an all time rim protector isn’t necessary for him to be an all time defender… once again, we are in the era of positionless basketball, and that applies to defense just as much as offense

    Shout out to the NBA for their decision to change the ref style after we were down 0-2, to force MN to back off on D! That was smart for many reasons: 1. People want exciting offense basketball, not boring defense ball 2. MN has a tiny fanbase, so itll hurt the NBA future if its them who wins the series. 3. As defending champs with a 3 time MVP (should be 4 time) we've got a serious legacy at stake here. And that's big on marketing and $ overall down the line 4. The only people complaining are MN fans because some of them understand how the playoffs has always been reffed physical so the change to soft reffing to limit their all-time defense is unfair. But even they should stop and think. MN players will make more money if the league does better. So its even best for their own players

    I wonder how much of the turnaround after game 2 is due to good coaching decisions or the players just figuring it out as they go.

    Minnesota was engraving the championship trophy after the first two games. So typical of the Minnesota media. OOPS! It is a seven game series. Minnesota is too soft!

    Lets be for real, game 2 of this series was like bully ball. I thought it was the 80s again for a minute. The timberwolves were allowed to batter the nuggets. I wonder why it got toned down 😑 that shit should never happen. Thank god the refs stopped that shit. Still allowed an elbow from rudy or katt im game 5 but they repaid us with all those charges so not to mad about that. I side with michael malone tho. He doesnt get that heated for no reason.

    Draymond was being so annoying and salty last night. Just because Jokic didn't get a chance to cook you because you've been sitting at home for a month doesn't mean he wouldn't

    Yeah cause whos able to guard Jokic how he played last night? Gobert was doing great defensively. Just because someone has an amazing night doesn't mean the defense wasn't there.

    What was Jokić's FG% for this game? I didn't know he had a perfect game in the past. I don't think I've ever heard of a player with more than 20 points in a game at a 100% FG rating. That's crazy. Numbers like that go a long way in the GOAT conversation, and I'm not talking fake LeBron GOAT conversations, I'm talking the REAL GOAT.

    So i turns out you can stop the Nuggets - and by the way HUGE respect to the Wolfes for being the first in years to do so - but you cannot ALSO stop the Joker. But again i dislike the hate Ant and the wolfes defence is getting right now, because they played really good i think. The fact is it has always been the case that a "all time great" player cannot be stopped by a defenceive player of the year or any defence for that matter,.... and newsflash jokic got 3 MVPs in 4 years because his offence is "all time great" unstoppable.

    Fire wolves couch . How you go 2-0 with a lineup then switch it , adding Rudy who can’t guard joker and lose 2 games in a row and still haven’t figured it out to go back to what worked game 1 & 2 !.when Naz Reid was in him and they helped with the double it worked game 1 & 2 ! . Simple !

    Shaq was sheer power under basket , force under basket , thats all . Pretty simple , get the ball from someone and crash the basket .Joker can play every position from 1 to 5 plus in the process he coach his team .All time ,everyday Joker , you cannot compare brain power with physical power (mind you Joker is NOT pushover in physical department either )

    From a bigger lens, this was a perfect team effort, in the sense of the word. Aaron Gordon, man. & Kentavious! Man's name sounds medival 😄 Jamal didn't attempt a 3. Mike Malone let Jokic cook. However, Rudy was meeting up with a furious Jokic, especially after what Shaq said. Of course he was about to get cooked! Nikola Ramsey came to the kitchen!
