I have this thing… Flashlight edition! Streamlight Survivor
Ғылым және технология
Welcome to episode 2 of "I have this thing..."
Today we're discussing the Streamlight Survivor Flashlight!
Find out more about the Streamlight Survivor here: www.streamlight.com/products/...
Apparently streamlight released a new version of this light barely one week before this video came out! Guess I'll have to get that one now.
I have no relationship with Streamlight, and this is not an ad. I just like this product, and I think it works well!

WOO! Yes! Another episode in this format! Rugged flashlights are an interesting concept, reminds me of this flashlight designed specifically for miners that AvE reviewed, damn thing is insane and is built like an absolute tank, very expensive too

this flashlight is also made for miners, it has MSHA info on the back of the flashlight, also for anyone who doesn't know MSHA is essentially OSHA for miners... Edit: Grammar

I have an old military clip on flashlight I keep in my go bag, it's pretty useful. Hope you enjoyed the artwork my dude, have a good day.
Streamlight makes great stuff. I've got a ProTac 90, myself. One battery, AA or CR123A, for plenty of light with three control settings. The Survivor was in competition with it in my mind, but the ProTac 90 won out on size and battery needs. Still want a Survivor for my emergency bag, but it's not as urgent a want as it used to be.
I was seriously considering getting one of these at one point. I typically carry a Streamlight Sidewinder. It's interesting to consider what might have been...
Ooo awesome I really hope to see more videos like these maybe we can see Zach's geiger counters. I actually watched the Chernobyl series not too long ago and for some reason it got me really into radiation and Geiger counters so I always kind of wondered how they worked
Zach lays on the floor and talks about his neat gadgets. Good video
Thank you for participating in Show and Tell :)
Thank you for the flashing light warning. Too many people are careless about that.

Zach as a person who also shares the interest in odd niche items I could listen to you talk about candelas for hours I hope you continue this series
I am happy to see another one of these. Zach rambling is like the sound of the ocean to me.
Is it bad if I've been a firefighter for... 8 someodd years, and never knew about the moonbeam feature? I feel really stupid now

Oh hey that’s the light we use on our turnouts
Listening to Zach talk about anything he's interested in is so soothing.
I remember getting one back in 2013 or somewhere around that time, and I enjoyed it. Unfortunately for me, after about 8 months or so, the fresh alkaline batteries I installed blew and got acid all over the circuit board it was connected to rendering it useless, I am on the fence on getting a new one if the models been upgraded in away.
I'm loving this series, keep it up.
I may not be intrested in flashlights, but listening to Zach talking about it MAKES me intrested in flashlights.
Always love your videos Zach!

@@ShamanG0M00 is the batteries still working after a year? I am planning to get one of these to attach my shoulder belt so while I am riding my bicycle at night I can just use it but I am not sure how durable batteries on these things are, I am really not a big fan of batteries you have to change often so rechargeable feature would come in handy so I wont spend money on them for a long time

I used to have a torch (UK speak for flashlight) that had a variable depth of bezel, and I don't mean some crummy screw focusing system, I mean you could add an entire inch to the depth between the lens and the light source, in a second if you wanted, or anywhere between, and the difference it made to the intensity of the beam was night and day. The tight focus was so intense that you could see the shape of the chip in the centre of the beam, as a shadow in the middle of the patch of light. Piece of shit electrically, but the aluminium housing and the variability of the focus was great. I wouldn't like to guess at its lumen output or candle power though🤔
@wearecoterminous

wouldn't you get really warm using a torch for light?
I want one of these now for night fishing.
If I remember right, they did a great job, took a beating and was easy to use while having gloves on.
do a 24 hour flashlight stream.
Both my father and my uncle used to be/are firefighters, and I've come to the realisation that stuff made for firefighters is the level of heavy duty quality people *think* the term "military grade" refers to.
I believe these kinds of lights are called "intrinsically safe", as they're meant to be used in hazardous/explosive environments where you don't want _ANY_ sparkage!
I was just scrolling through KZread and that light popped up on a nother review and I'm like hey big bro is watching

Your voice is nice to listen to while I'm playing Subnautica. Edit: 20 DAYS!? I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED. I have ridiculously good natural night vision, so the moon beam would be helpful to me

yay i can hear you!!!! also when your doing an mre case opening?
you make one video about a flashlight and are allready more enjoyable to watch then most wierd/quirky equipment channels.
HE DID ITTTT
We got abunch of these lights for our local fire department awhile back they are pretty nifty
huh neat, reminds me of my dads bat light, utility flashlights are cool
I am going to get one of these... Streamlight indicates the older ones are IPX4 rated. Not dustproof, can take water splashes from any angle (for 5 min), but is not submersible/"waterproof". Newer model is IP67 rated, fully dust-proof, essentially waterproof.
picking up on Zach's Ellie comment at the end I bought the black version of this flashlight a few years back and used it for a James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2 Halloween outfit, was a bit heavy in my breast pocket but worked well for the costume, plus it's now just been lying around my home so i've gotten some use out of it since with dealing with the attic and similar jobs
Nice
Lol I recognize that from work 😏
Zachy do vids on some of your gun builds please.

Now I want one for work to replace the headlamp I use that dies after 5 hours of use. My only question is do they make any with magnetic bottoms like what a Milwaukee rover flood light has or anything I can add to do the same thing.
