I worked for a company that used a motorola very close to the CP200's.. they are good, we found getting the longer antenna helped with range immensely. Also, the Li-On batteries worked great, but keep in mind if your using them in winter time outside, you'll want to try and keep them warm, we found they drained pretty quickly when the winter really got going in Vermont... Awesome!

Great video. I was just re-considering my flashlight collection last night (which sounds very similar to yours) and came to the same conclusion. As a former volunteer firefighter the Streamlight we carried was rock solid and simple but did the job well. Decided that would be the right light for the right price for my general needs. Going to put one in my vehicle and have a couple around the house.

I've got 2 of those lights already. They are pretty good. They are also certified haz low. And, I use the side light function a lot when working in tight spaces. I've been using them in the led form since they started offering them. I use to use the regular bulb type, but they kill batteries in about 8 hours. I've forgotten the led one in cabinets overnight and they where still on when I went back for them. Great pick.

I like the anchor rechargable lights. We do multi week hiking trips and the reason I like it is because 1 it's water proof 2 it has a quick interchangeable battery incase we can't charge it. It does have the 3 standard modes of dim bright and strobe but it has a memory that turns it on to the last used setting.

I agree with the Streamlight as a solid flashlight manufacturer. I used Pelican for a while, but the Streamlight has been a fantastic light that I used as a mechanic for a dozen or so years. I think I went through about 3 batteries and 3 light bulb replacements during that time period. I love this model, my wife is always shining the light at her feet when she walks outside at night with a flashlight.

I have 3 of these lights, they are the best flashlights I've ever owned. The dual beams is genius, we just go back from a camping trip and I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to see everything around your feet as well as what's up ahead while you are walking on a dark trail. I too have noticed that all of my flashlights with "modes" (and therefore circuits) have a much higher parasitic drain that those with simple switches. I can't tell you how many times I've reached for one of those other lights and it's either totally dead or has a very short run time. I have none of those issues with this light.

Yeah, I was half kidding around but I can see a scenario where you want to shine your light at a coyote or something in the distance quickly and you hit the wrong button and then you are fumbling around trying to flip the light to find the other button. This reason alone is why I chose the Mini Maglite AA Pro. Very simple operation, not even a switch to go bad. After watching this video I decided to test how durable my little maglite was so I took it outside and threw it at the concrete garage floor for 10 minutes straight and then took it apart and poured brake fluid all inside it. I let the brake fluid set a few minutes and then I cleaned it all, put batteries in it, and guess what... when I turned the bezel, the light came on...just like it was supposed to. Nothing more needs to be said about maglite durability. And unlike streamlight, it’s 100% Made in USA!

I do find both a spot light and flood light in one flashlight very useful. For up close work the spot has too much glare and the flood is light better. Besides with both lit you can see out ahead and the ground is nicely lit. The spot light button is on the top and the flood light on the bottom. As noted these are single function buttons, just on and off. After trying it out, I bought a second one.

AA and AAA's are a must for a flashlight. If the power goes out for longer than a few hours, I don't want to have to deal with a rechargeable flashlight that needs to be recharged. I am always gong to have AA's, AAA's, and 9V's at my house and every backpack, suitcase, etc. that I have, I always keep a few AA's and AAA's. I will never have to worry about my flashlight not working because it ran out of charge, especially when the situation does not allow for me to charge them. I 100% agree about the unnecessary modes. I am only ever going to use one, maybe two modes, and I don't want to have to cycle through fifteen to get to the one that I want, only to accidentally go passed it and have to start again.

Once when I bought it, once before I went camping this last year, still charged, and I use it ALL the time. Small enough to keep on my person comfortably. RECHARGEABLE. So many solar capable chargers these days I don't think it's a bad option personally. We'll see how it holds up. Thanks for the video.

Headlamps are my preference for so many tasks so I can see what I'm doing while using BOTH hands. Good luck finding an alkaline battery that won't leak in three months - It's become epidemic around my house (no more Duracells for a start). I use flashlights that can use rechargeable lithium-ion cells, alkaline, or NiMH.

@@aaronj08ar Batteries + would only sell me a box of 144 so I got the Werker industrial AAs, 8 for $3. A co-worker just opened a Duracell pack of 25 AAs from Costco he had well stored for a few months - 8 were unusable (dead and/or corroded). Thanks for the update.

I have close to a dozen different Streamlight flashlights. The only problem I've had with any of mine, was when I left one in a hotel room, and had to buy another to replace it. Never had one fail me.

Former cop, I trusted my streamlight stinger HPL DS for 5 or 6 years until I left the force. By far the best flashlight I've ever used. My backup was a 2c LED Maglight. Also really good light and really affordable. My Streamlight has so many battle scars on it- I'm so proud of that flashlight. It still gives me the fizz to this day. Streamlight was also always very easy to deal with when something went wrong with one of their lights.

I recommend those dollar flashlights that are the size of a roll of quarters. I have a ton of those lying around, and they all came with batteries. They aren't bright, don't shoot a beam far, nor are they %100 water proof, but I've taken them out in rain plenty and they do fine. They still put out more light and are more reliable than what we had as kids.

Right? I have a number of Olights. I've carried the same S30R Baton II nearly everyday for probably 5 years and never had a single issue with it. Hell, it still has the original battery in it and although the run time is probably 70% of what it was new, it still works fine.

I bought a 2 C-Cell MagLite that is roughly the same size as that Streamlight. I put in an LED bulb that bumps the brightness up to 200 something lumens and is plenty for what I need and costed me around 30 bucks as well. I also have a 2-D Cell LED converted MagLites in all of my vehicles. I have one of those same LED Streamlight Survivor lights on my turnout coat for work and really like it as well!

I have ordered already. I haven't seen the sidelight feature very often. I won't be copying the whole plan, but I like this content stream. The higher price for without batteries is similar to ther Amazon oddities that entertain me. When I buy something important to me with low-end batteries included, I replace them with reliable batteries and use the doubtful ones in other, unimportant devices.

  • @Survival-gyver

The important part of that flashlight is that its intrinsically safe. That's why emergency services use it. Its made for places where explosive gases and dust are normal conditions. The streamlight dualie, is inert. It will not produce a static charge, and its sealed, so it cannot ignite unsafe environments.

I have recently gotten rid of the double A battery requirement. Unless its the "edc" flashlight that you can monitor its storage, useage, and current standing. The issue is the new alkaline battery production is garbage. They leak after sitting on the shelf for 3-6 months. I may look back into them as a lithium replacement.

What do the battery contacts look like on the lamp section of the light? We use the 2AA streamlight dualies in a heavy Equipment shop and I’ve found that after changing the batteries several times, the spring contacts get bent just enough to make the light flicker if you shake it.
