I have NEVER caught this fish before

At last everything came together to give us the opportunity to launch the Excel Volaire on its maiden voyage. The sun was shining and the swell at a minimum there's only one place that I wanted to be. The boat was packed light, a couple of lure rods and boxes plus the essential safety gear and we were steaming towards the most epic of reef systems. Over the course of the day the tide pulled us in just about every direction imaginable but the fish were there and smashing every lure that was sent down. It was a spectacular day to be afloat but to top it all off the couches bream moved in on our lures to provide a really special time. This was a first for me and I was elated but this was overshadowed by the unit that my brother caught. We were both completely blown away, I didn't know they grew to such a size and what a surprise to find them so close to shore with water temperatures still sub 10 degrees.

Cheers John, it was one of those trips where we left feeling really excited for future sessions. After a bit of a hiatus it's great to be back.
Couches Bream caught when out on a boat from Newquay absolutely beautiful and lovely taste.

That bream is very much like our common snapper, Most sort after fish in the the north island by recreational fisherman . Weigh between a couple of pounds to 25 odd pounds.

I'd say a good 70% of my catch goes back. my large family and I really enjoy fish so I'll often take enough for us, after all that is the most sustainable way of putting food on the table!

@@obanonthewater7796 that’s pretty much what we do as well, in the bad old days boats were full of unwanted fish, catch and release was unheard of back then. Some lovely looking fish well done.

That's my brother, I doubt it beats the current record of 8lb but it's certainly a specimen to behold!
