2:57: "Sand is sharp. Especially if you're a balloon." Keep in mind that they make _glass_ by melting sand until it fuses. Sand is basically a bunch of super-fine glass shards that have been polished by erosion to take the worst of the edges off.

This is the most relatable thing I have EVER seen. It ESPECIALLY sucks when you swim and then you have to some how traverse the ground of sharp, shards of earth, which stick mercilessly to your moist skin, providing such great, great irritation and pain. So yeah. Surprisingly, I think deserts are cool tho lol.

I wish this video existed when I lived in Florida years ago so I could show my parents why we should NOT go to the beach on their days off. Daniel, everything in this video sums up my feeling about both the beach and sand and sYruP. Thank you. I needed this. This is something that I have already thought about angrily after going to the beach, while trying to get the sand off of me (unsuccessfully) and pouring water on my burned feet :D Fun times, fun times.

This whole vid (except for the balloon thing) is so freakishly close to home I feel kinda comforted and unsettled at the same time

Honestly, I SHUDDERED at how accurate your description of the beach's numerous discomforts was. I always used to think that I was the only one who found the beach annoying but NOPE, it just comes down to how much the "positives" of the beach outweigh the negatives in your mind. For most people, the beach is "strangers, swimming, volleyball", but for people like me (and evidently Mr. Thrasher here) who DETEST those things, the beach is nothing but a hot, gritty, slimy torture chamber designed to suck the living soul out of introverts. A quiet, icy tundra, SURE! A serene, rainy forest, YES PLEASE! Lot's of people like to say "oh it's the sand lol it's coarse and rough and it gets everywhere" but no, NO... The Beach. Air. *S T I N K S* !!! Seriously, do you REALLY think I wanna sit on a damp towel and sniff the sweet, sweet aroma of decaying fish and putrid body odor? Why is the water so darn murky? Am I swimming in sewage? It sure smells like it! Whose job is it to clean up the freaking bathrooms because honestly they make the sandy hellscape outside look lavish in comparison AM I STANDING IN SWEATY SEAWATER OR PEE!?!? And honestly, people have None, ZERO MANNERS when they're at the beach! They let their kids run amock while they drink beer and cook, getting smoke IN MY EYES!!! They don't wipe their kid's noses so they're literally eating Sandy Snot and getting it all over my dog! The teens play volleyball and run like it's a sick game "How much sand can I kick into the faces of strangers?" My sunglasses get all smudgy just from EXISTING near the beach. PEOPLE ARE LOUD. THE TEXTURES ARE TERRIBLE. *I. HATE. THE. BEACH!!!* I'm sorry I just really needed to vent, years of being forced on beach outings against my will have taken a mental toll. Excellent Video! :)

It sounds a lot like your main problems are 1: Other people. Which is fair, I too would prefer to be alone with my group on the beach. and 2: whatever beach you're going to is on a crap body of water and most likely IS full of sewage. I promise you there are many beaches throughout the world that do not smell awful.

My mother hated going to the beach too, so you're not alone. She was mostly disappointed though, because media made her believe sand in your toes was a good thing.

As an avid beach lover I can appreciate this video for the accuracy of the struggles of the beach experience. Stunning. Unfortunately Daniel, I will not be disliking the beach.

Everyone around me (my mom included) becomes so surprised when I say the same thing. FINALLY someone shares my opinion! It sure is a lot of hell and trouble to get in and out of there. The worst part about getting sand everywhere is that it’s so f***ing hard to wash off no matter how many showers you take. Not to mention the wind; if you do bring stuff with you, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get out all the stuff because of the goddamn wind! Why is all of this SO FREAKING AGREEABLE!?!? Whenever I got to Florida everyone says "ohhhhh, let's go to the beach!" and I'm like "NO! sand SUCKS and it gets EVERYWHERE, and then our WHOLE car is FULL OF SAND!" The same goes for syrup, every time we eat breakfast anywhere everyone uses syrup but me because I know that no matter how hard I try it'll get everywhere!!!

I understand and I hate the beach too. The sand gets stuck in all those places it's not supposed to be like your shoes or sandals or your car and sometimes it's really stuck to you, and if you even touch the ocean it feels really gross. The water gets all over you and then once you come out of the water the sand gets stuck to you. Gross! Some people even pee in the ocean, and it's honestly just so gross! Not to mention numberous people are always there and you just wanna be alone with your own group. Beaches suck!

We have found Anakin Skywalkers child playmate.

The is such a great story. Seeing the story through the main character's eyes, you can feel the annoyance, the disgust, the pain of dealing with these major obstacles in life. These small annoying little things that a lot of us has experienced which connects us and makes the character relatable, piling up gradually, eventually becoming such a huge obstacle in the main character's life that prevents him from experiencing joy, is something we're all familiar about. It's something many of us can relate to. Then the story diverts your attention from sand, to syrups, to balloons, to whatever annoying little thing it is, using their similarities; the annoyance, mainly the pain of having to deal with their stickiness, which is the core theme of the story. And when the biggest conflict arrives, when the precious balloon animal pops, *BOOM,* _sand._ All along, it has always been about the sand. The sand is what ties everything together. It's where the disgust from feeling stickiness started, it has a main similarity with the syrup which makes breakfast and beach hard to enjoy, and it's what popped the balloon, pushing the main character to redo the balloon animal, and pushing him to go through the pain, the AGONY of dealing with the kid's stick hands again. It might even be the reason why the kid's hand is sticky in the first place, because how would the kid get sticky sand on their hand that popped the balloon in the first place? That's right, it's from the beach. With the final conflict won by the sand, the sand effectively stopped him from moving on, stopping him from trying to enjoy the beach anymore, making him hate the beach for the rest of his life. That's brilliant.

I have never related so much to a train of thought as much as I did with the syrup bit 😂

We never went to the beach when I was a kid. The only time I've ever gone to a beach is a woman who has said "I *love* the beach!" but I think it's more she loved the attention from wearing bikinis at the beach. So whenever I get approached with anything having to do with the beach, I feel like 0:44 .

this reminds me of a time when I was young:my feet were super sandy, I went to the water to get the sand off, Walk back over to the sand, they got sandy again, go to water to wash off, sandy again, water, sand. same cycle over and over. Eventually my mom called me and I did the same thing, but I had to just deal with it, and walk back to the car with my feet covered in sand. The beach is nice, its just the sand that is annoying.
