    The fact that it's for kids is exactly why it should be held to such a standard. As a kid, movies can and will shape you as a person. Hell, some of the most machure, emotional, and thought provoking films in recent years have been for children. Everyone deserves good movies, especially kids.

    @@jessicamartin1160 Well, the biggest problem with the “don’t like, don’t watch” argument is that it silences criticism. Sometimes you have to learn to watch something you don’t like in order to form an opinion. If you want more information on that, then I suggest you watch PIEGUYRULZ’s 2-part rant video on the topic.

    I think this argument is an impulse that comes out when someone is scared that they can't argue against something and they just want the other person to stop arguing and accept that they're wrong when they haven't proven otherwise.

    But that's just it. When people use "it's just for kids" excuse, it's like they don't want to admit that because something is made for children, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by other age groups as well. I mean for Pete's sake, who they think makes these kids products in the first place? Exactly, ADULTS! So that argument is already invalid. Not to mention if a kids show or a movie is bad, but people still use that excuse, they just feel like that making something for kids, it means you have to become lazy as possible to make something for that demographic, but that is 💯 precent BS!

    Usually it's not the fact that it's *for* kids, it's the fact that it was *made by* adults, and adults are much more capable of making higher quality media than most of the "entertainment" the people usually defend with this "argument".

    It’s not nice to criticize someone for something they like but you don’t. You should never hate on someone for liking something that you don’t. My brother just can’t understand how to accept my lifestyle. He doesn’t like any of the things I like, and I’m fine with that because I actually never wanted him to join me for it at all because I know how he will act. Throughout all these years, I’ve been paying zero attention to every single thing he said about the things I like. He even used rude words like “little 5-year-olds,” “You’re 21,” “it’s meant for little kids,” “We’ve grown,” “it’s for kids,” “Why can’t you watch something that’s more for your age?”, etc. Due to all of these mean things he said to me, I will never listen to him at all. He needs to respect me for who I am.

    I definitely agree with you man. Kids deserves great quality entertainment stuffs like shows, movies, video games and even toys, but here’s a another thing, even if there was a great quality content intended for kids that it appeals to everyone of all ages, for some reason, there are literally adults and even some teens act like it’s “only” for themselves and not for kids or for not everyone of all ages, as if those same people who say kids media should be great and can be “mature” now act like kids don’t deserve great quality content all of a sudden. Like for example, Gravity Falls, a cartoon intended for kids that it’s appealing to everyone of all ages, yet some adults and teens say it’s not for kids and that it’s “exclusively for older audience” just because.... it’s deep and has some “maturity” in it. They think that amazing shows like Gravity Falls should never be viewed and enjoy by a younger audience/kids, which is pretty pathetic and they do the same thing to other kids content that appeals to everyone, but say “IT’s NoT fOr KiDs”, like star wars the clone wars, Transformers Prime, samurai jack(1-4), Pixar movies which are literally family oriented movies, yet there are adults who that pixar is not for kids. And another thing, kids can literally view and enjoy entertainment content that are intended for an older audience. When I was a kid, I watched South Park which an adult cartoon, dare I say this, I’m “not” ashamed to enjoy something for adults, South Park may not be for kids, but it was definitely appealing to kids and I was mature for my age to view it, just like kids cartoon shows that are appealing to an older audience. People really should stop treating any kinds of content or media as “only for them and not to anyone from different age groups”, people should not feel ashamed for something for a specific audience that they enjoy and a majority of adults should stop treating all kids as nothing, but disappointments when kids are not. Kids entertainment media can and should be great, deep, mature and appealing for all ages. Thank you for this video mate.

    I've never watched this video before to be honest, but your rant is really understandable since these annoying excuses like "it's for kids", "act your age", "grow up", "you're acting like a child", and "you're too old or too young to be watching/playing this and that" gets really old, stale, repeated, and so irritating quite fast completely; including the "that show/movie/game is for girls or boys" crap too. They may even use some of those cheap excuses as insults just to "justify" themselves and to make you look like the bad guy and as if you're in the wrong in particular situations and that said mean person or bully is in the right! >:( 🤦‍♂ I rather be a child than a big bully or a pure evil jerk. Like gimme a break! Who gives a damn about a person's age?! We're all still human beings regardless of age, gender, race, nationality, and sexual orientation included! Just let the person do their hobbies already dude! The age of someone shouldn't matter that much to anyone either. Video games, cartoons, animated series', and even anime and animated movies are for everyone and what Walt Disney would say, "adults are just grown up versions of kids anyway." Kids can also be surprisingly smarter, mature, and more competent than what people give them credit for and for how they're misjudged and misunderstood, even if some kids don't look smart or mature! So kids really shouldn't be underestimated! Nice ringtone for your phone btw. That's Hero by Skillet! :)

    Thank you for understanding! Now days, I haven't done new videos on KZread lately, because I have responsibilities outside of KZread. Now my family has a new puppy and I have to take care of it, so I can't leave it alone for one second. Another reason is that in today's world it's much harder to share your own personal opinions thanks to certain individuals making life more difficult for those who aren't part of that particular community. When I criticise kids shows, it's for a good reason. I want kids to have entertainment that is actually good. Giving them bad or mediocre shows isn't gonna cut it, but the problem is that some people want to defend mediocrity, because it has same sex couples. No need for criticism, just consume product and then get excited for the next product. It gets really annoying if you ask me. Kids really do deserve better then this. Normal people don't care about sexuality, race or whatever when it comes to entertainment. Normal people just want actual good stories with good characters. That's it. If people think that the only driving force for a good show is just to have gay/lesbian characters, then those people really need to get out more and shouldn't be the people that western entertainment tries to appeal to. But that's just what I think. I hope my reply wasn't offensive to you.

    It's especially annoying that people now days try to defend bad or mediocre animated modern shows, just because they are made for kids, while in reality they are made for people who only care about stuff that kids don't even care about. I was a kid, and thankfully I ended up watching animated shows from 90's & 2000's that didn't treat kids like morons. Even to this day I love watching shows like Batman Beyond, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, Megas XLR, etc. Because those were actually good shows to watch. I highly doubt anyone's going to remember or talk about modern shows a few years later. Kids honestly deserve better material then what we keep on getting in today's entertainment. People should stop using it's just for kids excuse to defend mediocrity.

    What if we change directions on a children's movie? Would the same excuse apply to the Emoji Movie?

  • @Asaylum117

    @Asaylum117

    Oh hell no! The Emoji Movie sucked HARD! The movie basicly says that every person on the planet can't have ANY sort of social conversations and somehow Emoji's are the answer to all worlds problems. And let's not forget the stupid feminism bullshit they threw inside the movie. My main issue, especialy when it comes to animated movies is that they use re-used plots and are treating every single kid as an idiot. I am not saying all movies are like this. Dreamworks, Disney and Pixar animated movies always are the best. But kids don't know any better and would rather see a movie from Illumination (because Minions) and from any other low buget animation studio, then anything else. And a lot of the adults nowdays don't know any better either. When they look at animation, no matter if the movie is bad or not, they will take the kid to that movie regardless, because animation is *just for kids* apperantly. In my country, people don't even give a shit about animation.

    Even if I could make a kids' show, I would also make it enjoyable for adults, because my future show would teach children what is like when being a grownup instead of treating them like idiots. My show would feature mature themes of violence, carnage, destruction, tyranny, and war that aren't too disturbing for children. I know children are not stupid, they can learn faster and tolerate something new more than adults can, so I decided to educate them and behave more maturely.

People should have parents in mind as well as we’re the ones who have to listen to it & often watch along - Looney Toons perfected it - as I enjoy as an adult for different reasons 😂 All of the older cartoons really - a lot of the kids stuff is shit now - Bluie is cute - Ride up and kids will rise up - he’s a good point. It’s like teachers who baby talk 😂 Barf 🤮 People can make intelligent things for kids & not dumb them down - I think the “just for kids” should imply that there are not inappropriate topics and language - but not the intelligence -
