That's why I turn my phone off on Christmas day 😁
That was excellent. Not a gamer, no idea what you're talking about half the time but admire your tenacity and your determination to help the customer even on Christmas Day. Good on you Phil.
Thanks! I guess that PS5 blew a fuse before the Cod3r did!...Okay, I'll stop! Seriously great work, Phil. Sucks you had to sacrifice that PS5 but look at it this way: You are proud of your work and will do everything in your power to get your customers what they paid for. Plus: You just saved a Kid's Christmas. That has got to be worth something if only peace of mind!

Way to go. You didn’t let up and were working out the problem in your head. Great job.
Well done. Impressive that your care so much about work and about the clients Christmas morning. Top Notch. Hope you have a wonderful 2023.
Well done Phil for working on Christmas and for figuring out what the problem was.
You are a genius young man. Repairing peoples dreams. You deserve all the riches possible. Subbed 🤙🏼
You should make a record of everything you do to all boards you repair. That way you'll know exactly what you've done, and you're not guessing, should it come back to repair.

Definitely, when I used to repair phones I recorded serial numbers, repair, price, parts used etc. if I had one come back I knew what had been done and also helps factor price into sales or repairs.

Well Done mate Merry Christmas. Can't think on many who would give up their Christmas for a customer fix
Wow, now that's a warranty service !! Huge credit for doing it on Xmas day Phil 😮, but shows how much you value your customers. Good luck with the tidy of the workshop, hopefully you'll find lots of spares you didn't realise you had 👍
Good on you for doing the right thing, Phil. Thoughts I have: You changed the Southbridge and that fuse already prior. Both failed again. I would now boot it up and look at the heat signatures as SOMETHING took them both out twice. I don't think it's 100% yet but you're close.
Good on ya mate. Hope your holidays continue without interruption.
Its brilliant to see a fellow Yam Yam on KZread, you are far too underrated. deserve more credit for your skills. earned my sub
Stumbled across your vid and haven’t a clue what you was doing but found it extremely fascinating. Top marks for your work attitude and customer service. Great job 👍🥁🇬🇧
Fairplay mate. Just stumbled upon your channel. Amazing to watch you fix the ps5. Wishing you and your family all the best. Legend.
Gutted you never fixed it the first time but glad it came good! Also watching you reball is amazing, you make it look so easy, I have been attempting it myself recently and its really not as easy it you make it look!
Bless you man, you didn’t have to do it on that day you really didn’t but it was Damn good of you to do it. Very impressed
Good job. That often happens when you've got a problem you can't solve. You go away and do something else with it ticking over in the back of your mind and the solution suddenly comes to you.
Good job! And great that you stand by your warranty.
Well done Phil keep up the good work you do.👍👍👍👍👍
Great outcome, happy all was fixed in the end! Technology is a wonder, yet pain in the arse when it isn't working. Very cool video! Cheers from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada! I'm definitely subbing my friend!
Solved by persistence and dogged determination! Great work 👍👍👍

That’s so sweet about your boy, my exes son was autistic so I have a little idea about it, your a good good man. Bless you
Happy Holidays from Las Vegas, amazing work.
This is how a business should run. You're top tier mate
Ooof, this is a tough one, but you've got a great attitude towards customer service mate! To ensure the console hasn't been dropped in future for warranty claims, you can get small stickers (eg. ShockDot / ShockWatch) that essentially provide a measure of mechanical g-forces. They come in all different g-ratings, and basically, if the item is dropped/knocked beyond the g-rating specified, small indicator vial turns red - giving positive confirmation a certain g-force has been exceeded. They're only a few pounds each, so they could be a cheap insurance policy for consoles you're repairing/selling - just place one near your repair/warranty void stickers. As for what to do... I would give the console back to the customer, but I would stipulate that they need to either have their electrical outlet inspected or recommend some sort of inline power filter/surge protector; and that any future power supply related failures aren't covered under warranty. The filter won't protect against everything (eg. extreme low/high voltage), but may be enough to prevent future failures that might be noise related. I'd also confirm they're not running it off a dodgy power strip/board.
This guy is a genuine legend.
Really loved the video! Brilliant and very informative. Very skilful work. Keep up the good work. Thanks for uploading. Class.

Fascinating video, thanks man. Hypnotic! New sub 👍
I feel Ur pain but something good will come back to u this year for doing the right thing
For the kids !!! That's what's up good sir.thats Good customer service. 👏
Good video. Thanks for the drop. Keep a simple excel doc on what repairs/components you have replaced and cost to you. Can quickly see if still any room for refix left in a warranty return or more cost effective to break for components. Also can see quickly what issue was at first fix so can go back to that quickly to see if failed again
Great work Phil!!
I'll be honest: I quite enjoy the repairs, but the highlight is the cat. Love it.
I have found sleeping on an issue usually brings up an answer to the issue. The brain does amazing things when you sleep. Good job. Enjoy the rest of your well earned holiday.
well done recovering from that nightmare !
Any 5 year old is a wonderful test (I raised 4). Your beautiful son will be an exceptional one. I love the kitty also.
Great Job Happy Holidays

No idea why YT recommended this video. Im not that clued up on electronics, however, I enjoyed the video. I like the rawness of the video and i like the fact it shows the the readings in the corner etc. Ive also learnt about BGA chips.

Hey man. It's not much. But it's still a little something for a great person that you are. I don't know you since long but I could tell you are a good person. By the way you talk. The way you admit some of your flaws but do your best to improve as a person. And what you did in this video was generous. Nowadays it's rare.. most of people would say sorry to the customer and give the broken ps5 but you gave yours to save a kid's Christmas. Your amazing. Thanks

Thanks so much for your generosity my friend, it's truly appreciated ❤️ I try to be a good person but we all have our flaws. As long as we can recognise them and try to improve ourselves the world will become a better place for all of us ✨️ 😀
Good man. Stick to your principals you'll go a long way with them. 👍
Another excellent fix, well done mate. If it helps, im a carer and I also worked in Christmas day, it sucks doesn't it
Great work
That really sucks you didn't find the fault in time, before you sent your PS5 out. But, you are your customer's hero, as well as his kid's hero because they were given a working console, because you are a proud technician that stands by your work and will support it. This is why I follow your channel, you're smart, and have great work ethics and take really good care of the people that come to you for help fixing their electronics. The world needs more decent people with integrity, such as yourself. Great job. Hopefully this console will survive for a while, so your son can enjoy being a fireman in GTA 5. Have a blessed day Cod3r.

haha I thought you nearly said my 5 year has an obession with violence, I was like oh okay :D
I just stumbled across this channel, very enjoyable video, my little brother works as a quality inspector for icon electronics. It's give me a insight into his line of work
Never interested me until I watched your video grat thanks
I would say its possible something overheated, but you can check that with the thermal camera once you've got something working so it would be obvious if something was going bust, and also thinking about it a bit more 1 hour is a long time for somethin to be running if there was a heat issue. Other thing is maybe a component was on its way out because the technician before you was doing all manner of magic on the board, such as nuking stuff with the heat gun.
Hey m8,hope you and yours have a great time :)

You're a good bloke Phil. Very few would have done what you did. On the question of liquid metal, i see some folks put it on their gaming laptops with no barrier. Usually causing failures however i watched Sorin do it and he used so little of it on both surfaces. You've said yourself Sony use too much. The conformal coating is a great idea, but i would also completely replace the metal with good quality alternative and use as little as possible.
Dont usually comment on youtube videos but hats off to you mate , true gentleman giving up your time like that on Christmas day. If that had of been any of the "big" company's or chain store the customer would of had to of waited until the new year. Heart of gold fella 👌
Great video
Lovely to hear a fellow Midlander in full flow... I was wondering actually if you fix PS5 controllers? I have 3 that are all suffering from bad stick drift... all only a year old too (just outside the warranty.... after I had a fourth replaced still in warranty)... so annoying!! haha.
@TheCod3r
Жыл бұрын
Haha cheers bud, it's nuts how many locals see these videos 🤪 I actually don't do controllers, too unreliable for me because the only parts I can get are cheap knockoffs, but there's a guy on here from Birmingham called Uber Micro Repairs. If you get in touch with him (or her, Leigh and Tabatha) they specialise in controllers so definitely able to help. I'm not sure what the cost would be but they're cheaper than replacing the controllers :)
Feck that had me hooked to c if you got it working I was willing it on brilliant nice one 🙂🇬🇧✌️
I also had to fix a playstation on the 25th, but I had it easy. It was my old PS4 Pro I gave to my brother, and all that was wrong with it was that the disc drive cable wasn't fully plugged in.
you are really a good person
lol milo is my dog name, happy ending you did it again
Just subbed after learning about you and then next thing you appear in my YT suggested! Also a repairer, gone from mobile to shop life not far from you, and now back to on the road with a home workshop in South Derbyshire. Whilst I do some repairs at board level, I do get some that I turn away console wise. Would you be interested in B2B on those? Do you do anything else like laptop & mobile board repairs at all? Also my name is Phil too!! 😂

My friend I get it my daughter has asperger's and the wife and I get were your coming from so don't feel bad buddy, I have made my daughter download all games cause she freeked out when could not find the disc in the past, we are with you on this my friend, take care. Paul.
Great job mate. Get the console back. God bless your beautiful son.
I used to repair and mod ps4/xbox controller's and I have to agree fifa players kept me in business. Another great video btw

I hope all have had a great Christmas to start.I literally have about 20 friends who all got a ps5’s from day 1 and none have had any issues with the console or controller stick drift. Is this down to pure luck or the fact that they all look after there consoles with regular cleaning.
