I got to interview Adam Block at AIC 2022!
@AdamBlock was kind enough to chat with me at the Advanced Imaging Conference in San Jose, CA this past weekend. Check out his instructional videos here on KZread and on his website at: adamblockstudios.com

Adam Block doesn't get nearly enough exposure for his expertise compared to the other more popular astrophotography youtubers. Thanks for dragging him out front and center for your viewers, he's a great next level resource for amateur astronomers.

Love the part where Adam says astrophotographers don't like to image bright stars 😎 True
Thanks Nico and Adam!
Adam is the man.. His PI skills are on another level and he's really helped me to take my imaging to the next level- The whole community really has, yourself definitely included, but Adam is just a natural teacher.

You are the best astrofotographer in the world Nicooo!!
Great interview! I greatly admire Adam's videos and it is awesome to hear him talk at length about process, not just processing.

Ha, thanks David!
That style, of that betelgeuse photo is by far my most favorite of all the different types of astrophotos out there. I think those beautiful star fields just blow the nebula and galaxy photos out of the water.
Thank you Nico for your presentation at AIC this year, great stuff :)
nice seeing you in person at AIC, and great little interview! nice job. i'm the guy that sent you the picture of you doing this interview :)

Awesome! Thanks for that Greg!!
This was a really great interview, Nico. I’ve thought a lot about how I might tell a story about a nebula or galaxy, vs just documenting it. I’m so new in AP…I’m in the learning stage, so I think I’m consigned to merely “documenting” my targets. But I have in my mind, strongly, this idea of “story”. So this interview really held my interest. I wish I could have heard that presentation and been there. Thanks for this great interview and introducing Adam Block.
Haha. I was there on the steps watching this interview in progress.
Nico, you are awesome bro! I'm amateur when it comes to astrophotography and loving learning all new stuff. And thanks for doing interviews like these. Hopefully one day soon in future I can own some good equipment and tools. For now, I'm just using my camera and tripod.
Decent information. Love Adams’s work
Fantastic interview. Thank you to both of you!

No one teaches AP better than Nic. Way to go. Dim Lightyear way to go.
I'm glad that you did this interview! Great topics and questions. I admire both of your work!

Very interesting interview. Thanks for sharing this.
Awesome interview! Thank you 👍👍👍
Fantastic interview, Nico! The intersection between professional astronomy/astrophysics and amateur astronomy is rich, and filled with numerous opportunities for growth and learning. Really appreciate the effort here. Cheers!

Pretty sure adam was our host at the mt lemmon sky center for a skynight about a decade ago. An amazing experience and the nicest guy
Great interview! Thanks!

Hi Nico, very interesting interview and great to hear Adam Block’s perspective on astrophotography. I was sitting outside with friends and were about to come over to say hi when we noticed the microphones 🎙

A belated Hi Rick! Glad you liked the interview. Hope you enjoyed AIC as well.
really enjoyed the lectures at the conf.
Awesome interview but my OCD is going crazy with Adam's microphone being upside-down in the holder.

Thanks! Yes, the Shure SM7B is meant to be underslung like on a boom arm, which is why the writing is upside down in this config.
The best *deep sky* astrophotographer, perhaps.
Great interview Nico! I liked that dip into the mind's eye, as it were, during discussion of the creative process. Do you have any more AIC content coming? Because that would be totally awesome.

Thanks Al! I might have one more interview. I have to review it and see if I can edit something together.
The question about perspective with the moon and Andromeda galaxy is great. When I was beginning astrophotography it was so hard to wrap my head around what these objects looked like to my eyes frame of reference. I think pictures like that which show size perspective are invaluable for beginners especially w/o GOTO mounts!

Yes, several years in I'm finally getting a feel for how these huge nebulae and galaxies would look in the sky if we could see them better with our eyes alone. Truly hard to wrap your head around!
👍👍
Pre-visualization is used by all high end photographers: Yousuf Karsh, Ansel Adams, etc.
Now looking for an interview with Tony Hallas 🙂
what are Adam's gears, if I amy ask?
Is there a 2023 AIC?

I guess "best" deserves a definition. Especially since this sport is time and gear dependent.
