We are a family of avid hunters. Here's a funny story for Matt. When my granddaughter was little and learning the seasons she was asked to tell what the four seasons are. She didn't miss a beat...deer, fishing, turkey and squirrel. Lol..stay safe.

We had venison, roasted potatoes and Riesling at Christmas in Bavaria. I mistakenly set fire to my menu...near candles, but the band played on.
The two of you compliment each other, what a wonderful thing! It’s nice to watch you interact with each other. The love you share for one and other is special and emanates through the video. I think Matt is going to enjoy his new toy! It’s nice to be able to buy the things you’ve wanted for years. Enjoy, you’ve earned it! Thank you for inviting me to into you homestead! 😊🇨🇦

Hail to Matt for helping out in the kitchen. You go boy‼️
“Matt likes to tease the children!” “That’s what they’re for!” That had me cracking up Matt’s got a funny sense of humor 😂
It's so good watching and listening to the two of you, living your best life, growing food and living off the land as much as possible. At 72 years old, healthy and take no meds of any kind, I attribute my good health primarily to having big gardens every year, eating fresh vegetables out of the gardens and freezer, and having unprocessed meats to eat, in the forms of fish, venison, chicken and beef. I love the country life, and being self-sufficient, to a great extent.

How cute us it that Matt cooks for you. And that you gave him that grill . Supper sure sounds delicious. Matt has some culinary skills...you know some men are really amazing cooks. They just don't advertise it as much...great job Matt🙋♀️❤❤❤🇨🇦

Yes sir, Mr. Pressley. You grilled that back strap to dang near perfection. I've got a hibachi just like yours and you got it figured out just right. They burn hot and half the charcoal than you initially used exactly right. God Bless you both and thank you for sharing this with the rest of us... I'm now craving venison and vegetables on the spit!

Matt is going to really enjoy that cast iron grill. The more you use it, the better it will get. Allowing the grill to season just like your favorite cast iron skillet, will ensure that food doesn’t stick and actually presents the grill from rusting. The manufacturers instructions should detail care and cleaning. I always try to let the grill itself heat up rather than overload with coals. Using some good hardwood can add to the flavors as well. Play with it and have fun cooking. - Tennessee Smoky

That looked like a mighty fine meal there! Kudos to Matt for providing the deer and cooking it up for dinner. I love grilling meat.
He's so cute loving what you gave him! He's trying really hard to make sure you feel as awesome as he does. This is a very special video! You are both awesome!
That was a feast…looked so delicious!…thank you for letting us sit with you for supper…it felt like I was right there…Matt is a hoot…lol…I made poppyseed chicken casserole & strawberry short cake …fresh strawberries here in Florida & they are so sweet….I ordered my calendar yesterday when Corie first showed it, not because of the almanac for planting but because you had them made❤

Enjoyed this! Now that's a feast! The deer meat was perfect! That is a fantastic grill ! You can't go wrong with lodge cast iron... that's the way I fix my light bread too. Matt is an awesome man , husband and father . He can fix and repair anything! Y'all remind me of my family here in the mountains. Appreciate y'all always...God bless...🙏❤
Matt's new grill is really neat! It seems he likes it. I know it will come to a lot of good use. The candy I ate as a kid sure isn't as good as it used to be. I guess they started using crummy ingredients. I loved PayDay bars but i bought a couple in the past five years and they taste really stale. Same for hershey's candies. You eat baked potatoes in such a civilized way compared to me. LOL. I put butter on the skin when I'm done with the potato and eat that too. One of my favorite things! Have a good night. take care.
That venison looks PERFECT! It might be a simple meal but it's really a classic dish, meat, veggies, and a nice baked potato.
Matt once again, thank you for giving Tipper a night off from cooking. It looks delicious!! Two of my sons got a deer each this year. It sure helps when feeding growing kids.
My husband and I watched this just tonight. You guys are so great together. We laughed at Matt “smiling” at the end. You enjoy each other and it’s evident.
You are both sweet to watch and listen to. I am just salivating over the venison. Yum! You're a great cook Matt.
Tipper you are so inspirational! Thanks to you I have started making kefir water. It has benefited my health in so many ways. I have started fermenting a few vegetables. And I have always thought of myself as a city girl, but you make me want to be a homesteader. Consequently, I’m going to try to raise some of my own vegetables starting this spring on my deck at my duplex, in the middle of Dallas, Texas. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your whole family is so authentic and lovely. That’s so refreshing. ❤

Just love you all thank you
I had a cast iron grill just like that and used it out on the porch for many years. I bet mine would have lasted for ever if I would have kept it safe from the weather. It was a perfect grill for 2 people. Keep a small spray bottle of water near by to keep the flame under control. Congratulations on so many years together, looks like your doing it right. Love from Ohio. ♡
I use leftover hamurger buns or sandwich rolls for garlic bread when I have them and don't want to waste food. It always comes out delicious lol. My husband loves to dip his in Bruschetta
Tipper, this video really hit the spot. I had gone to the store, and picked up fast food to take home so I could eat as soon as I got groceries put away. I felt like I was feasting in the company of family as I watched your video while eating off the TV tray in my lap. Listening to your and Matt's casual talk and banter is always balm to my soul, but this conversation was especially enjoyable. I didn't join in verbally, but I sure did smile a lot. Behind on watching your videos, so about to get caught up while eating dessert. Thank you both so much for sharing your lives. My husband was like Matt. When you would tell him to smile for a picture, he used the smile muscles, but that was all. Maybe you could tuck away some comments that you know will elicit a smile, then use them without him realizing you're trying to get a smile for the camera. :-)
I just found your channel. I love your simplicity. And providing your own food.

Matt said a lot of people.. and he’s right and it’s definitely not crap it’s good wholesome, loving, fun moments you share with all of us. And I’m thankful you do. Thanks for the videos and sharing your time with us all .God bless
I agree with your Mom - your cooking videos make me hungry, too and this one was no exception ! Loved watching you and Matt eat the delicious meal he cooked, and just enjoying each others company. Being from near the Appalachians and living in the country my whole life, the way you both talk makes me feel so at home. Raising a garden, canning food and my brothers bringing home game they hunted, was a way of life for us when I was growing up.
I love good old country cooking. Better than any restaurant.
Nice visit with y'all. Like sharing a meal and conversation together. A little picking on the kids is fun too. 😉
What a feast and that rare meat looks wonderful!......hold on, I'll be right over!
Boy, that sure does look fantastic! My husband was a really good cook, too. He used to grill for us all the time and made great steaks and pot roast. He used to make some of his Mom's recipes that are more common in western PA where he was from that were some things we don't usually eat in southern Appalachia. Thanks for you and Matt inviting all of us to supper at your house!

I doubt he is shy. Southern men like Matt do not feel the need to say more than is necessary. It is more of a silent confidence. He makes me miss southern men like him.
Matt's eyes literally roll when he takes a bite of deer meat.
Y'all are just lovely, kind, beautiful people.
FINALLY! We get to see the tenderloin that Matt gets to prepare and I am excited to see it! Thank God that you get to provide the commentary and back story while filling in the who, what, where, when, why, and how. Matt is not a talker and definitely a doer!
Loved the video! That backstrap looked perfect! Corey’s reply that it looked better than her food at the steakhouse was awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thank you both for sharing your meal with us. It is such a joy to watch you two together!
It's my understanding that the back strap is the loin muscle and the tenderloin is on the inside of the body cavity underneath the backbone. I have that same grill and I love it. I have had mine for about 10 years and it's just like new.
Matt, that’s exactly how my late husband started charcoal for the grill! Fast and efficient.
I love listening to you two talk! Your supper looks so good.

Lodge has been in business over 100 years, starting with heating stoves. Every spring they have a day-long Celebration with the whole community participating. There are many events such as a Cornbread Festival. Also. they have special pricing in the store plus visitors are allowed to go through the foundry and see how skillets are made. It's in Tennessee. near Chattanooga.

lol… these memories of old like the ice creams, gardening, and these wonderful down home cooked meals are wonderful on this Christmas Day 2023! 😊 A perfect couple and family, living the simple life! I truly loved this Video! I’m Starving 😂❤ Merry Christmas and blessings to you and your family! Love The Grill!!! ❤👍🙏
Even though that grill was filled with a bit too much charcoal, the meat was cooked perfect. Matt, that’s a sign of a cook that knows what he’s doing. Great job.
In the sixties and seventies our families would meet at our uncle's house and make homemade ice cream. My aunt would put fresh peaches in and all us kids would take turns cranking, those were great memories.
Matt teases them because you both love them oh so very much!!!😊
You guys make me smile. Even when times are tough. Then it's not all bad.
What a terrific gift you gave Matt. He made a delicious meal. Bet he never suspected that he may have to make a habit of making meals. Lol. God bless you both.
That looks so delicious making me hungry that’s some more mountain goodness. God Bless y’all Tipper and Matt
I sure do love watching y'all its a pleasure to see y'all true love doesn't exist in this world much anymore 🥰🥰🥰💞💕💟💜
Enjoyed this video. You are and awesome couple. Thanks for sharing your time with us all. God bless you and yours.
Awe Tipper, the way you were looking at Matt in the end parts, the love for him just lit up your face, so sweet!🥰❤❤❤
The cast iron Habachi stoves work amazing! If you use lump charcoal you can grill up all thicknesses of steaks, chops, food, cast iron baking! All good.
I love the togetherness of your family
You are all such a sweet family. Thank you for keeping me company while I binge watch your videos and lulling me to sleep when I have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Matt you can see how much you love and adore your wife, Tipper and girls. Tipper, you can see how much you love and adore your husband and family. I would say I would love to meet you all in Appalachia but heck no to snakes and lizards! Yikes! I cringe at a house spider! Love to all and extra love to Katie and pending baby. ❤ Meanwhile, when I’m not working I hangout with wild mustangs here in Nevada and stay far, far away from the rattle snakes in summer! 😂
So happy seeing you'll cook again
Have long wanted a cast iron grill like that and I'm glad Matt can enjoy his . Range fires are a constant threat here in rural central Texas so I am reluctant to have any outdoor fire . We can just enjoy Matt's cooking . Enjoyed the family time . Good show .
Tipper you need to tell folks like me who has never cooked or eaten deer meat how to do it. Someone gave us deer steaks one time years ago and when we opened the package to try to prepare them they stunk very very bad and we threw them out. Later an uncle told us that it wasn’t prepared properly from the kill. Matt makes it look so good!

My mouth is watering now for that tenderloin. I used to use Italian salad dressing to marinate deer tenderloin.
I like Matt in his time off! Enjoy!!
I absolutly love both of you , you two kids make one another a whole!
The dinner looked delicious. We have the same green glasses y’all were using with your meal. They belonged to my husband’s granny. When I was growing up my family had the amber colored ones my grandmother got them for my mom for Christmas and she got my aunt the blue ones.
Can really hear the crunch of the garlic bread,🥰 ,
How nice to have suppertime with Matt and Tipper, I couldn't enjoy the food, it looked delicious but I sure enjoyed the company. You both are awesome, and make me smile, I laugh out loud when Matt starts cuttin up, don't ever stop. I'm looking forward to more suppertimes when you feel like inviting us all. It's a crowd. 😂 😁 😊
I would love to see a video on growing Shiitake mushrooms! Especially if you harvest for years. I love mushrooms. That BBQ looked wonderful.
Boy, every bit of that looked delicious. I hope y'all get the snow you're wanting. I'm from central TX and it is unseasonably warm this winter. I don't care for it. We need a good cold snap to knock back the insects. Well, that's enough griping from me. Y'all have a good evening.
Old folks always said if you got a late snow to plow it into the soil. They called it poor man's fertilizer. I've heard that human hair gathered from a barber shop spread around the the edge of the garden kept deer out. Also a man that worked at the zoo gathered some of the animals poo and scattered it around the outside of his garden. It's good fertilizer and he didn't have trouble with deer after that. It won't be long until garden time! Enjoy the calm before the work begins. Also enjoy seeing you guys. Stay safe and GOD bless
Y’all are the most adorable couple!!! It’s such a joy to watch you together.❤️❤️❤️
Great looking peppers! Matt is a real cook…I can almost smell that dinner.
