    I genuinely went out and bought two car dash cams last night because of this happening, for my wife's car and mine. If you're interested, Halfords has a brilliant deal on the Nextbase 522GW bundle, with rear camera, 32GB Micro SD card and pouch for £169.99. If you're a Bennetts Rewards member, you get 10% off that too. For motorcycles, I've only tested the Thinkware M1 and the Techalogic DC-1 in this video so far. I've resisted reviewing dash-cams in the past as I was worried people would see it as an insurance company trying to force them on people, but attitudes seem to be changing, so I've started covering them in my editorial role. I have the Viofo MT1 waiting to review (I was about to fit it to the Interceptor), and will be covering the Innovv soon. Sorry I can't help more right now! The Techalogic, Viofo and Innovv all have discounts on Bennetts Rewards: rewards.bennetts.co.uk/rewards/discount-on-techalogic-dc1-dual-helmet-camera/ rewards.bennetts.co.uk/rewards/discount-on-viofo-dash-cams/ rewards.bennetts.co.uk/rewards/discount-on-innovv-k2-motorcycle-dash-cam/ And you could win a Thinkware M1: rewards.bennetts.co.uk/rewards?category=competitions Here's the Techalogic review: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/motorcycle-technology/techalogic-dc-1-front-rear-helmet-camera-review And here's the Thinkware M1 review: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/motorcycle-technology/thinkware-m1-motorbike-dash-cam-review Hope that helps! but would the dash cam footage make any difference, a rear end shunt will always be the fault of the person behind in the UK.

    @@iandouglas451 Generally rear end shunts are the fault of the driver behind. I can think of a scenario where a vehicle pulls across into a different lane and takes up the braking space of a vehicle behind. If the vehicle behind hasn't had a reasonable amount of time to increase the gap to the 2 second rule then they can not be completely to blame if the vehicle that has just pulled in front of them then does an emergency stop. They shouldn't have to brake sharply just to increase the gap, they should be allowed at least sometime to increase the gap safely, after all someone is likely to be behind them. For this , and many other incidents, dash cams are very useful to work out who is to blame.

    Just imagine the driver's face when he's told he's written off a bike being ridden by an insurance company's employee & as a rear-end shunt its indisputably all his fault, and what his insurers will have to say about it.

    The guy just made a mistake. Yes, a stupid one, but who of us hasn't on occasion? I did something similar once, almost 30 years ago (on my 25th birthday, which is usually when auto insurance becomes more reasonable). Waiting to turn right (North America) onto a street, I see the car ahead of me start to move, I look to left and see no traffic coming, and start to move, only to find the car that was in front of me was still there. Don't know why he hadn't moved. Totally my fault, of course, but I'd like to think it didn't make me a "complete knob", lol. I've also been on the receiving end of this scenario, although in a car. The car in front of me started to move then stopped for no reason, so I had to stop as well, and the driver behind me hit me. Again, careless, sure, but people do make mistakes. I didn't get mad at her.

    I work in motor insurance claims, drivers do it all the time and I am of the belief that people guilty of such are not apt to drive period. If you cannot focus on people directly in your path then you should not be driving. There is Absolutely no excuse.

  • @karlosh9286

    @karlosh9286

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@annon-ski7985 "Drivers directly in your path" . I do mainly agree with this, there are a group of drivers that will jump into a tiny gap in front of you, usually on dual carriageways or motorways, and then you might not have enough time to safely increase the gap to 2 seconds to the car in front before an incident happens. So it does depend on context.

    I was rear ended on the freeway in January this year, a rare time I was in my car. Traffic was at a total stand still, I even turned on my emergency flashers. I looked in the mirror and watched a guy change lanes into my lane at full freeway speed, I knew that even if he braked right then he wouldn't stop in time. I put my head against the headrest, foot on the brake and clutch, hands at 10 and 2, and waited. My cat was half the length it was before (Ford Fiesta). He said he fell asleep, I think he was on his phone. If you can't pay attention to what is right in front of you, you probably shouldn't be driving.

    As this bike's owned by Royal Enfield, they'll want it back to sort out. Looking at the front, there's definitely something going on there too, so the total cost of repair will be pretty high.

You say that your Airbag would not have protected your ribs, given that comment do you think the Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 would have? I ask because I was thinking of buying the Ixon IX-U03 but am now wondering if the Alpinestar would be a better bet? Any thoughts?

  • @bennettsbikesocial

    @bennettsbikesocial

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ltanetwork9123 I honestly can't see it being a problem as it's very low - the standover height means you'll most likely be able to get both feet down easily, and then any bike can be held up with your little finger, as long as it's balanced upright. It might be that you have to pick it up then step onto it, but all I can suggest really is to give it a go, sorry! As far as I know, the exhaust would be the main area you could lose a little weight, but the steel frame and big (lovely) lump of an engine make up for a lot of the mass. Good luck! Cheers, John

    Just goes to show no matter how careful you are doesn’t mean everyone else out there is going to be doing the same. I recall reading a science paper on why we’re not designed for driving our eyes seemingly and out with our control take 1/5th of second images of different areas around us. Our brain makes judgements again quite involuntary on what’s happening based on the images not always correctly of course and if you add in other distractions and a bit of speed easy to see how some accidents happen. Anyway glad to hear no really serious injuries hope you’re feeling better soon and back on the bike, different bike of course.

    The frame bends against everything it is attached to so all connections will be stressed I doubt the swing arm is in alignment anymore. If you could see the damage happen in very slow motion you would see the entire bike assembly flexing horribly and then returning 'almost' to normal...trust me you do not want it back it cannot be fixed. Keep in mind when assembling they never smash parts together. Send it to the boneyard and start over do NOT get it fixed.
