I didn’t give my mother a diamond; but I did go buy some facet grade aquamarine rough, which I hand faceted into a 4-5 carat heart shaped brilliant crown, barion pavillion, set it in a 14k gold ring, and gave it to her for her birthday or Mother’s Day. Aqua is her birthstone. She loves it, says she gets compliments on it all of the time. I did similarly for my mother in law and grandmother. It’s a great feeling. The ring you made for your mother is just stunning, I’m sure your mom stared at it all the way back to Hong Kong, and is getting complimented on it all of the time. It was very thoughtful of you to think to do this for her. BTW, I LOVE your original, cushion cut engagement ring that your mother helped you design, with her advice. It looks like a million bucks, fit for royalty. I also love it with the new, heavy gold ring, also.

Being able to give such a large gift to your parents is an amazing feeling. I’m sure it was even more emotional for your parents knowing you are at a point in your life that you can provide this for your mom. Beautiful video and congratulations!

Being in a position to give your parent(s) something big and special is such a wonderful feeling. This is such a wonderful and stunning piece, and most importantly it's personal and embodies what your mother should be proud of you for stock > sawing, bending, soldering etc. It's just really interesting to me on a jewellery nerd level, and if any of your pieces are created that way is would be super cool to see, especially for people who don't understand why quality jewelry costs what it costs, and why it's important.

😂 that is GREAT question my dear! I was born in HK, growing up, my dad did a lot of business in China. For the longest time, I would just sit and listen to his business conversations in Mandarin. Over time I just picked it up by listening. My parents speak Canton to each other and to us. Occasionally, I prefer expressing certain emotions or words in Mandarin! It just came out like that in the context I guess? 😂 My dad sort of just smiled and walked away 😂😂😂 and said "Come eat some noodles" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you ❤ I had to get her fingersize right 😂😂😂😂 And at first I wasn't exactly sure what shape she would like. So when I first showed her my office, I pulled out a bunch of rings and was like...look mom! (I was going to give her a bigger ROUND diamond). Then she won't stop looking at the Pear shape!! I had to take a U turn and curate Pear shapes and made the ring happen before her flight. It was a bit chaotic but it was well worth it ❤❤❤

Jesus Christ. That’s like a $30,000 ring. 😂 What was the price?! 😍
