I Found a Dispersed Campsite down a Horrible Trail.

Ойын-сауық

Welcome back! This week I headed out as soon as I got of work Friday. I drove a few hours north to a dispersed campsite that I had come across on the travels in the past. I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend on the lake. The area looked different from the past, logging crews were cutting trees, but I knew the forest road deadened at a lake. And that lake has one single campsite with a fire ring!
I shouldn't have been surprised to see someone had found my secret spot. I hope he enjoys it as much as I wanted too! By this time, it was 6:30 and rain was starting to fall. Of course, I didn't make a second plan and my phone didn't work so I couldn't look at all the pined locations on Google maps. I decided to search with help from my Garmin. I ended up on an old trail. I couldn't see any tracks on the road and grass was growing in the ruts, so I knew no one had driven down it in a while. I was contemplating turning around, it was about 8pm at this time which meant I had been driving for over 4 hours. That is when I came across this honey hole. When I first pulled in, I thought ''this was one of the best-looking dispersed campsites I had ever seen!'' Maybe it was because I was desperate, maybe I didn't want to drive and hour and a half back to Grand Rapids to sleep at Walmart, but this felt perfect. After spending an entire weekend all alone in nature I realized this was as close to perfect as a dispersed campsite could get. I appreciate you coming along for the ride. I'll see you again next week.

I made one camping trip with my Arctic Fox 992, the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. It ended 5 days early due to the suspicion that I broke my wrist, so I packed up, headed home and went to get x-rays. Yep, it’s broke, so my camping trips for at least the next 6 weeks are all canceled. This means I will be relying on other people’s adventures to get my “camping fix”. Keep the videos coming!

Awesome as usual, Kenny! That tomahawk looked the size of a roast, maybe it rested too long in the microwave and continued to cook. That was a beautiful spot, no doubt, save for the bugs! The fogger is a great idea, but then you get covered in it, too, necessitating a shower for sure. But the view and no people, just can't beat that!

Thanks Doodles! I was thinking the same about getting covered in the fog. I also think you are right about letting it rest too long. It was in the microwave for an hour or more.

It smelled so good! The fat in the ribeye rendered down and made the ribeye so tender. I wonder if I let it rest too long in the microwave. It was in there for an hour or more. I know meat will continue cooking as it rests. I was disappointed until I had a bit!

Kenny, you have really knocked yourself out the past couple of weeks filming, editing. Really have enjoyed the product review video.....a common sense review that can be trusted. What a killer site you found Kenny....as usual! What a great location on the lake. Too bad the fish didn't cooperate Kenny. Might have to bring Mandi along to confirm the lack of fish population. Refreshing to see a site that was in good condition. Hope nobody else finds it and trashes it. The drone footage was great....always enjoy it. Thanks for bringing us along Kenny....You're the BEST!!!

Yes! You found it! I knew that campsite was there, and I figured with the recent rains and horrible tail conditions, no one would be back there. If it wasn't for this campsite, I would have ended up at Walmart for the night. I have about 80 pinned remote campsites on my phone. This is the furthest north I have pinned in the state.
