Many times while watching you tube videos we begin to get a bad feel or vibe if you will. Just seeing this now, but I'm from MN and I travel in a tiny house promaster van. I bought a Tucktec Kayak for just these situations. It's really cheap and fits the size of a travel golf bag. thanks for showing mn in a great light.

Sometimes we try too hard to catch fish. Mandi’s got the touch though! Patience has its rewards in finding campsites and that is your gift, Kenny. The clarity of those lakes is really spectacular! Paper plates! You’re a man after my own heart! All that and some gorgeous stuffed peppers! Whoa! What a sunset to wrap up another great video. Thanks yet again. You guys be safe and have fun!

Hi Kenny and Mandi, you both remind me of when my Mom and Dad went fishing 🎣🎣🎣 but my Mom beat my Dad and he never took her again. When I got told about this story I said when I was about 10 years old when Dad had a day off I wanna go fishing with you Dad, and I got 22 tiddlers and he only caught 3, and I didn't go again he e never took me again which was ok, it just goes to show that the fish prefer ladies smell than men's, a friend said at the time perhaps the fish liked the smell of either our perfume or something that we was wearing scent wise to my Dad. My Dad when wasn't working always used to go fishing when not at work mostly the weekends. And won alot of matches, I have the memory of him looking so proud with all his fishing cups and trophies that I took as photo of, it's a pity I can't send you the photo. Thanks for sharing

Man that looked like an Awesome weekend. Supper looked good, but I kept thinking about Mandis Panfish covered in cornmeal and fried in Peanut oil . Made me so hungry, I'm having Fish for Dinner. Excellent !

Another amazing campsite. I can understand why Mandy was worried; that road looked questionable at best. But you did very well with it! Thanks for taking us along.

Wow, what a beautiful site, and that sunset! So glad Mandi went with you, she definitely is the fish whisperer! Amazing how clear the water looks, by far the most beautiful site of your recent stays! Probably a good decision getting out of there before the rains hit, I'd imagine the climb back out would be much more gnarly in those wet areas. Can't wait for the next week's installment!

I believe I commented on this one already 😆 🤣 😂 I was doing some Dyr for next week scouting with my bro. And this video came up. I have to say after re watching this one again out of all your video thus far this is got to be my favorite. I had to put winterize and put our camper away for the season this weekend. Now it's back to our Mini Van with a mattress for the rest of fall. We are actually going to scout out these locations next weekend. Bring a chain saw for limb removal if we get down some old logging trails. Debating if I should bring the 12 footer for a little fishing. Can't wait for this week's video

Absolutely amazing Kenny!! All of the lakes in that area plus free camping right on the water. You may not be able to catch fish but you sure are reeling in some great campsites. Mandy did fantastic and I was so happy to see and hear her in the video. I hope she is starting to get more comfortable with the camera. I love seeing her reeling in the fish and letting you know how she was out fishing you. On a side note I finally caught some fish on Sunday. Just a few rock bass but it did help boost the confidence.

I really like your setup. What camper do you use and what truck do you recommend for the truck?

The camper is almost 20 years old but still getting me out on the weekends. It I a 2004 Arctic Fox M860. That line was discontinued in 2005. It was replaced with the 811 model. My truck is a 2015 Silverado 3500 HD. There are so many different opinions on trucks and campers. Here is mine...... Buy what you can afford. If you have the money to buy an F-450 or F-550, that's great! I don't think I would ever say, " I wish I had a lighter payload capacity." My thinking was I wanted a truck and camper that would allow me to explore forest roads and find dispersed camping without having to work overtime or a second job to pay for the setup. I like my one ton single rear wheel short bed setup. If money wasn't an issue I would look at the Ram dually short bed. I think they are the only one manufacturer of a short bed dually. And I'd go with the Arctic Fox 811 or Northern Lite 8-11. I think that would be an awesome setup for my kind of traveling.

Hey Kenny when fishing plastics try a vertical flick of your wrist. Nothing violent just flick it let it rest flick it let it rest. You could soak your baits in some garlic or anise. Good luck.

👍🏼🎣 Way to go Mandi! Looks like a catch and cook night to us, compliments of Mandi.🍳😉 What an amazing find for a camping spot.The views were amazing. We could sit there and watch the water over the campfire all evening. Did you know throwing dried herbs on the fire will help keep mosquitoes at bay? Lavender, sage, lemon balm, and mint. We use Lavender or sage the most. The peppers look awesome, will have to try your recipe for sure. It would be a hard to campsite to leave. Mary💕Fred

Its funny you mentioned that. Adelle took off the 27th and 28th from work , just so we can go camping! I'm really excited and looking forward to that trip. My older daughter also has said she wants to be in a video, but she's shy like Mandi. Maybe after she see Adelle in another video she will want to go. Adelle called Mandi a few days ago just to tell her how excited she is to go camping.

We'll look forward to seeing them! We're camping at an area lake this weekend with our youngest daughter and her family. Her 2 young sons enjoy RVing, especially with my wife who spoils them rotten! The other grandparents have purchased an RV, so we'll have 3 sites. This will be our 2nd time together. Keep up the good work, Kenny, and continue to enjoy your loved ones and exploring. It's funny though......I have been fishing all my life. I've been in fishing leagues, been in many tournaments, I have always been able to catch fish.....this year though, I can't get a bit to save my life. It's not like I'm new to fishing, I've owned many boats and fish houses. I've been a fisherman my entire life... it's Minnesota, we have a lake every 5 miles in any direction around here. I cannot explain it.

Same here. Fished so much I kinda got out of it but was into saltwater last. Toss a HotnTot for largemouth if you get a chance. I think they still make shallow divers for shore fishing. I use to use a float tube to get into deeper water and drop offs. Requires getting wet though

When we go backcountry we always find the journey enjoyable, but the adventure is what we cherish, btw, that fish was on for two jumps, I’d consider that landed 😂

Mandi kickin butt with those sunnies! You are right though. It’s tricky catching those walleyes/bass/pike. I was always much more proficient catching the sunnies. They looked delicious. Y’all should’ve pan fried some up! I am envious. Only thing we have out west primarily is trout. And trout is not the best tasting fish, IMHO. Also, that is most certainly the best boondocking spot I’ve ever seen in Minnesota!

I'll have to make some fish tacos. I love them. I agree with the trout. My dad would take me up to the mines as a kid to go trout fishing. I always thought they were fishy tasting. I'll take sunnies or crappies over trout.

I’ve taped my eyelids open to try and push it into this night because the stars up here at 10k feet are spectacular and wanted to get some long exposure shots for my next videos. Of course the one time when I spend 30 minutes prepping my campsite, the clouds roll in and they’re not as spectacular as they were last night. Ughh!

Hi Kenny there are fish out there what I use is a a canoe with a fishfinder hooked up of the bottom of the canoe haft way so you have 360 25 feet out from canoe you will see fish and terrain of the bottom hope it helps you out just a tip ❤😊

It was an awesome find. This was one of the best dispersed camping spots i have wondered across. Mandi said she wished we could have stayed longer, and I agreed. It was a challenge to get to but well worth it. It reminded me alot of High Rock on Copper Harbor in Michigans UP. Such a cool spot.

Mandi and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary together. One day I'll ask her to marry me. (She won't look back at these old comments, so it's ok that I dropped that here) We started dating when we were both raising our kids. She had her home, I had mine, and I worked out for both of us to have our space. It's actually worked out nice because 10 years later we are both still in love and enjoy our time together and miss each other when we are apart. Mandi will say she is better at fishing because she grew up on a river......I just let her think that!

I have learned alot over the last year. I had no idea there were so many dispersed sites either. North of Brainerd to Canada theres so many options. The central and southern part dont have the same opportunities. I once thought I'd be moving to Montana or Wyoming when the kids moved out of the house. But my eyes have been opened to the endless outdoor activities this state offers.......if the taxes weren't so darn high, I would say Minnesota is one of the best states.

Every Kenny I have met as been pritty chill. If your getting a truck camper I hope you find as much enjoyment in it as I do! I love the freedom with not having something to pull behind me.

Bitchin spot. Best part of all is that Mandi didn't have to HEAR about it. Good going Mrs. Mandi for someone catching fish in the empty lake. Haha. Jonesy

That week at work was draining! Im not a full-time youtuber like alot of these content creators. I still do the Monday through Friday grind and staying late stacking up overtime. I still got out and recorded though...I stayed in a rest stop Friday night, then made my way to a power plant Saturday morning. I found an area up here that has a rare rock formations called ferry stones. It on the Mississippi River. I started editing the video that Sunday. I could see in the video I was tired and the whole thing felt forced. Monday night I deleted the whole thing. I wasn't happy with it. I'm still gonna go back there and share it with you guys. I was thinking of mailing out a few rocks to any viewers that want one.....there only found at 5 or 6 places world wide. Good news is Mandi and I had a great time exploring Paul Bunyan State Forest this last week. The new video will be out tomorrow at 5pm!

Mandy is using a Telltale ring Zebco, 202, maybe a 404. Lol , she has caught dinner!

That was a real nice surprise to come upon that spot. I find my far share of remote campsites here in Minnesota, that was one of my favorites.

Yay! Kenny caught a fish! lol Dang I wished I had known you were going there. I am nowhere from there. I would have loved to hook up with you.

Hay lake is full of crappies, fished it a few times and camped there. It is why I kept my canoe strapped to my van

Great Video Ken WOW what a spot that was. Was curious if you have tried any top water lures for bass? Jitter bug or something like that. I have had great success with them and they woukd make great video. Toss it right along the weed edge and slowly reel it in. They come flying out of the water lots of fun.

Thanks. It was beautiful. One of the most peaceful and quiet sunsets I have seen in a while. I should have recorded the loons and used that audio in the background. Their calls are beautiful but haunting at the same time.

try pre-rigged night crawlers, three hooks on one. i've caught a ton of bass next to the weeds with them.

Wow is all I can say about that site Kenny! Now if you could only get your fishing talent to catch up with campsite locating talent then you’d have a perfect weekend! I saw ya sneak the camera shy Mandi, via your mirror, into the vid…good for you. Hope that doesn’t put ya in the doghouse once she see’s it lol She was nailing those sunnies that’s for sure. Buuuuuut as far as the small mouths go…hmmm…didn’t see any on tape…think she’s telling fishing tales on ya to get under your skin haha Anyways, as always, another great vid and weekend for ya (glad the skeeters left ya alone) and thanks again for sharing your adventures with us!!! Next weekend, yep, for sure, I feel it…your weekend to land one that makes a man a legend!!! 👍🏻

Try a bagleys golden black striped back bangolure i think it willl give you good results.. just let the ripples settle then chug it... its a top water plug and swims great...even when trolling.... good luck LA

Thanks, hopefully Mandi gets more comfortable on camera over time and will make more appearances.

Mandi is going to have to have her own fishing channel! That was awesome!!! That has to be one of the top three spots I have seen you camp in......that was perfect! That was the perfect fishing spot....the fish are surely going from lake to lake in that narrow strip. QUESTION: Kenny what app do you use to find these dispersed sites? It's sure working for you. Thanks again for bringing us along with Mandi and you!

The App I use is On X hunting. It shows public lands. From there I zoom in and try to follow forestery roads untill I see an opening along the trail. I pin possible camping spots in Google Maps. Then I go scouting on the videos. I spend my lunch breaks at work on Google Maps. Lol

The bugs were almost nonexistent. Just a few horse Flys. We could leave the door open with no problem. Once it got dark the Mosquitoes came out. But not to bad! The temperature was about 72, the due point was maybe in the 50's, absolutely perfect conditions.
