Because I cannot speed up people in real life x2 as well. I CANNOT ever un-notice just how... SLOW.... people.... speak. But you are exactly like everyone is on x2 speed and I LOVE it so much. Never had to speed you up 😂

Murakami's book title got me thinking of Raymond Carver's 'What We Talk About When We Talk About Love', so I got to googling, which led me down a rabbit hole of wholesome articles about his admiration for Carver and the influence that Carver had on Murakami's work. So I guess the title of his book is a nod to him (they only met once and had tea at Raymond Carver's house, and when Carver died, his partner sent Murakami a pair of his shoes). This then led me on to a piece in the Atlantic called 'Who You're Reading When You Read Haruki Murakami' (based on a book of the same name, but do you see a pattern emerging) about the impact of the translators of Murakami's early novels who changed and removed some elements of his books to, they thought, better suit an American market, which might be worth a read for anyone interested in his work or the business of literary translations in general. Still wouldn't get up at 4am for him.
