@@isarealpe Yess :) so basically the Met Gala has an extravagant theme each year (for example heavenly bodies featured a mix of borderline biblical and just beautifully stunning outfits that emphasized on everyone’s body, or camp which basically means like very extravagant and out there and just insane) and every year Shawn just ignores the theme and goes in a basic suit

Alex Turner is a songwriting genius. This is a line from the song "Fire and the Thud" that I absolutely love - "If it's true you're gonna run away, tell me where, I'll meet you there". He can pack so much emotion into words. I would really recommend listening to the older songs by the Arctic Monkeys especially their album Humbug

My favourite song by Arctic Monkeys is Too Much To Ask. The line “Would a kiss be too much to ask? When you fit me as sunday's frozen pitch fits the thermos flask” is beautiful. Also “Would it be outrageous to say we're either shouting or we're shagging? Docked in tempestuous bays, at least that's how we felt yesterday. The eyes are getting heavier and whether you're asleep or awake is a mystery”

Alex is the best of them all, even his lyrics are too poetic, I'd get him tattooed all over me if I could He wrote a love letter to Alexa Chung that goes- “My mouth hasn't shut up about you since you kissed it. The idea that you may kiss it again is stuck in my brain, which hasn't stopped thinking about you since, well, before any kiss. And now the prospect of those kisses seems to wind me like when you slip on the stairs and one of the steps hits you in the middle of the back. The notion of them continuing for what is traditionally terrifying forever excites me to an unfamiliar degree”

Alex’s writing is immaculate, not just “A choice of three” but all the of the songs he wrote (including the Moneys’ tunes and his own) are beautiful. Simply one of the best songwriters of the 21st century so far

Alex Turner has an insane talent in my opinion, Love is a Laserquest may just be one of my favorite songs lyrically.

This reminded me so much of the words of Thucydides about the change of the meaning of words (he was talking about a time of war): “The regular meaning of words changed to fit the state of affairs. i adore florence as well! my favourite poem by her is body of water ❤️ to give yourself over to another body that’s all you want really to be out of your own and consumed by another to swim inside the skin of your lover not have to breathe, not have to think but you can’t live on love and salt water’s no drink we’re dying of thirst so we feast on each other the sea is still our violent mother and like children she just can’t teach, we break and break and break and break ourselves upon the beach IT’S SO GOOD AAA

I can appreciate Lana Del Reys book strictly because the art and design was well done and wasn’t just blank pages with the words. It had pictures, Colours, Painting etc.

Florence Welch's lyrics and poetry makes me want to live a little longer. ✨

Alex turner is a genius when it comes to writing lyrics and words despite being bad in conversations.

its more like he is bad at interviews rather than conversations. his mind just goes way faster than his mouth can keep up with and so we end up with 5 words a minute but if you're patient enough and put them together, those are genius sentences. also the fact that he absolutely hates interviews which adds to the stress and slows him down further. all of the interviews in which the interviewers craft the scene as a conversation are the ones in which he is the most interactive. but if someone's just shooting questions after questions, that's a train wreck.

I think the issue is that none of these people (except maybe Florence W) studied poetry. So they think that songwriting skills can translate over when Poetry is a deceptively skilled form of wiring that needs practice and study. I think if Frank Ocean or Taylor studied a bit of poetry they would shoot to the poet bar next to Florence. Same goes for Potter, that's quite good for 17!

for me the 'reads rupi kaur once' section is poetry that used more symbolism + imagery (so at least *somewhat* poetic albeit cringe) whereas the 'worst-dressed list' category were just words that aren't very poetic at all! ope that makes sense haha

@@baileymoore1559 milk and honey is a collection of poems about her and her life and her experiences so i feel like the imagery is very strong and hits strong when you've gone through something similar. I also feel like she's very raw and vulnerable in some poems and i deeply appreciate that because I could feel it while reading. It's probably a collection that I'll never read again, but while reading, it was great. Also it's a very pretty aesthetically pleasing book if you care about it

I'd attend a dinner party with Florence Welsh, Britany Spears, and Alex Turner hands down. It sounds like a twisted social experiment and I'm here for it.

alex is a wonderful lyricist and that reflects in his work

James Franco's poem about Lana Del Ray sounded like the ones I had written for school christmas where you had to write a poem about the person who you're going to give presents to, for example: He's tall, he likes football. His eyes are green, he's great at english sort of things.

The "poet and they know it" tier is literally just a list of people I'd marry, if given the opportunity to, no questions asked. Florence, Britney and Alex Turner somehow need to collab idk how but they do. Or at least Alex Turner and Florence Welch. Imagine that

Also if you haven't , you should read Alex Turner's letter to Alexa Chung which she forgot at the bar counter. The whole simile of stairs and falling is one of the smoothest things ever.

I read ‘useless magic’ in December and it confirmed what I already knew- that everything Florence Welch has ever written is exquisite
