Hey guys....today I'm covering a current thing that's bizarre and almost got lost to time thanks to the church who made it not wanting to take accountability and instead just yeet it off their channel.
If you're on tik tok, you probably know that a church in Texas put on a bootleg version of Hamilton where they tried to make it about finding religion. Needless to say it didn't go over well and the whole internet exploded a tiny bit.
Here's my Scamilton video:
• "Scamilton" Triggers A...
Then the internet discovered (and almost lost) their version of Beauty and the Beast which features the Beast having his curse broken by Jesus of course. I may or may not have gotten roped into covering that as well.
Thank you guys for letting me ramble and whatever religion you are/aren't a part of just remember...everyone is valid unless their a douche. Jk, but not really.
Thanks for hanging out in my little corner of the internet. Stay safe and have a great day/night/unit of time. I'll see you in the next video...bye! 😊

Honestly, I believe the reason it felt so much more disgusting in Scamilton is becuase the basis of the 'story' is real life. Dramatised, sure but it's depicting real people's lives nonetheless. Having The Beast become Christian isn't having a huge amount of disrespect. Making Hamilton convert to christianity and blaming him for his son's death is. He was a real man, and him and his family truly did suffer from the loss of their child.

If they want to do Christian themed shows that's fine, but do one that already has that message in it. Like, Jane Eyre the musical would honestly be perfect. Jane literally sings a song where she prays to God to save Rochester's soul. With that being said, I'm glad this wasn't as offensive as Scamilton Also, I swear I thought you were adding those punch sound affects. They are straight up showing the most abusive Gaston and Lafou relationship in their version. It's like they wanted to punish Lafou for being gay after Disney made him gay in the 2017 version
@shelbymckinney8888
Жыл бұрын
Speaking of that 2017 live action remake, I can't be the only one who thought that change was poorly executed. That movie had many flaws but that particular change was poorly done it was almost unnecessary (his "gay scene" was basically just him dancing with another man at the end, which even then could have been seen as a joke without prior knowledge). Then again that entire movie is filled with problems and changes that were poorly executed. Anyways, God bless and watch The Owl House!
@AveryTalksAboutStuff

Right?? Like I think for me the sheer act of changing material is just super annoying. Like what about doing Jesus Christ Super Star for Easter??? Could've been perfect. 😅 And yep, when I showed my brother this video he straight up thought that I had added those in and was confused. Poor Lafou deserved better and honestly that actor is low-key carrying this show. (He's also clearly a child whereas Gaston comes across like a college kid. 😬)

@@shelbymckinney8888 I will say, I did enjoy the 2017 remake, but was so disappointed by the handling of LaFou being gay. Personally, I always felt the character was gay even from the original. However, I was looking forward to his portrayal in the remake since they said he was sort of in love with Gaston. Like, I knew it wouldn't happen, but I sort of wanted Gaston to die, and LaFou got sent over the edge watching his love die and blamed the beast. So then, he'd be the one to basically murder the beast. Instead, we get him accidentally dancing with a man who enjoyed being out in drag. Representation???

I pointed out the average height, skin and eye color, and hair texture of people living in that region of the world at that time, and she said the following sentence to me: “But that’s how they knew he was really better than them, he was white!” And that just hung in the air for an *uncomfortably* long moment.

Sorry this is somewhat late, but if you're still interested in collecting versions of Beauty and the Beast, there's a 1952 animated Russian version that I would love to see you cover. I know it was dubbed in english in 1998 but there are probably english subtitled versions floating around online anyways. @@AveryTalksAboutStuff Yes, it is, I looked it up just now and was kind of jarred by the change of music, which no longer sounds authentically russian, but it's not bad, especially compared to the subtitled versions I've found so far (there are some truly embarrassing errors, translating things too literally so a soup is "friendly" instead of "hearty," not explaining certain Russian words, etc.) So I think I would overall recommend the Tim Curry dub, even if it feels uncanny to my ears, and if you have time afterwards to listen to the original's music after you've seen the story in english. There is this french real-life-movie of the beauty and the beast where they had a nice idea of how the beast became one. It was a king and his young wife. He loved going out hunting with his friends and his dogs. One day he told his wife about this very beautiful deer he saw and how he wanted to hunt it. She asked him not to do it. He did and when he shot his arrow into the deer she turned into his wife and the sky changed and with a voice of thunder the god of nature spoke of the deer as his young daughter and how he has to punish the king for it, so he turned the king into a beast. After that it is the normal fairytale. But with a little bit of this more mystical ideas.

I've seen a few videos speculate on what the "gray stuff" is in the most common idea is that it is some kind of anchovy paste/mousse
Oh! I know the answer to the question about the Grey Stuff™️ It's a white chocolate mousse blended with chocolate cookie crumbles and put on a cookie. Inside the grey mass is raspberry jam and either chocolate or red velvet cake At least that is what they serve at Disney, who knows what it was originally supposed to be

God is cupid confirmed.
I thought Christian Beauty and the Beast would have Beast accept the rose, do a tango with it in his mouth and present it to Lumier. (That's the reason Sodom was destroyed, you know.) And Belle would be uninterested in any book that wasn't the Bible. As for the grey stuff, in the time and place, it was likely a liver pate. However, if you go to a restaurant in Disney Land and order "The Grey Stuff", you'll get vanilla pudding mixed with crushed Oreos.
@AveryTalksAboutStuff

Lol I didn't know what to expect but weirdly it's not nearly as bad as their Hamilton. I heard about trying the grey stuff at Disney. Maybe someday I will. 🙂
I mean...in some ways it's definitely better than Scamilton (in terms of singing, acting, overall energy levels in the cast, not having to censor lyrics/cut songs halfway through), but in some ways it's worse since at least Scamilton never once let you forget it's an illegal piece of religious propaganda. With this, you can actually genuinely start getting into the performance and story of the thing for quite long stretches of time and then suddenly BOOM! You're hit with an incredibly forced prayer scene and you're just there like "oh yeah...this is just trying to convert me to their brand of Christianity...". Like, this seems as though it could have been a genuinely good amateur production if only they'd paid for the license and not forced in the religious angle and in some ways, that makes this hurt more than Scamilton (excluding the homophobic sermon at the end of that one) since that was kind of obviously doomed from the very beginning... And it's not as if good and popular religious themed musicals aren't already a thing: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat was literally written for primary school-aged kids (7-11) to be able to perform so it's hardly complicated or inappropriate (barring the scene with Potiphar's Wife but even that can be staged so that it's not obvious what's actually going on), Godspell tells multiple stories and parables from the New Testament and even directly quotes the Bible in many scenes and does it all in a fun way that actively encourages the cast to show off their various talents, Jesus Christ Superstar...actually, they probably wouldn't want to do that one... But the point still stands.

Haven't watched the entire video yet, but you mentioned that Gaston is quite violent in this, with the slapstick humour, and I don't know if you've seen the stage version, but there's a lot of that in there as well. (Including a scene with Lefou spitting out teeth after being punched.) Also, the whole "the staff taking part of the blame" thing is at least in the stage version as well. (And the slowly turning more into objects thing, like in the live action movie.) It is strange to watch this and not have the songs from the stage version in there as well, because I'm like. A, Beauty and the Beast on stage. Must be the musical, with those songs. EDIT: Evermore is *not* from the stage play. The stage play has If I Can't Love Her, which is amazing. It's the finale of the first act, after Belle runs away. Then, where the live action movie has "Evermore", the stage version has a reprise of If I Can't Love Her. If I can't Love Her is an amazing song and I love it so much. EDIT 2: The townsfolk getting their happily ever after was not in the stage version, no.
