    Just had this problem last week on my E38. Took a few tries to turn on. Replaced the switch and all fixed immediately.

    Hi Nathan. Thanks for your video. I was tried to fix an airbag light and shortcut the obd port on my bmw and now I have no crank no start condition. I checked all the fuses, and relays and seems alright. I appreciate your help. Best Regards!

    Hopefully this helps I replaced starter twice idk what is going on checked the terminals n other common issues, plus weird battery drain

    Hey Tim, have you checked the (IVM) integrated power supply module? I've been hearing alot about these going bad due to corrosion inside the IVM and causing all kinds of electrical problems including a intermittent no crank no start.

    I experienced a no crank no start situation yesterday on my 2017 X5. Also got a warning for starter/ignition malfunction. It was -38°F outside, then later it warmed to -13°F and it cranked then started.

    Hey mr Nathan really enjoy your video and do appreciate you taking time to make these videos I’m sure it’s time consuming I just picked up a 2002 4.4 X5 for 200 bucks 106k miles from a coworker who bought it new the problem is it cranks and starts for 5 seconds it’s giving codes po123 po223 and I believe po103 throttle body high circuit would you be able to point me to the rite direction I’m thinking fuel pump or relay or needs new throttle body what’s your possible fix thanks for taking time out to read this

    I have a question not of a cranking issue but a weird no power in my front passenger door issue? Check fuses in glove box and all are good. Just no power at all going to that door, any suggestions. 05 x5 3.0i

    I clicked your link for my 2006 X5 ignition switch, removed the old one but the new one did not fit :( I'll have to order another one and hope it is the right size and solves the problem. I wonder if the switch can be tested in case it's not the problem?

    I had one go bad. In the 2000’s A national bmw Tech/ engineer named Krouse told me to change the Ign. The first sign was if the passenger sun visor light was on. The radio sound went out and the steering wheel position went up. Followed by trans codes the following start up. The good old days. I moved on to bigger junk now. 2 n63/64 My 3rd 7 series and 1st 6 series. That is my low mileage #1 turd of all. Question when you have a minute: have you ever or how often do you have ZF(26) trans fluid come out the breather while driving medium to hard. “I’m assuming “ internal pump pressure leaking into the vent passage?? @ 40k on a 08. The 6 has a tampon cover that soaks it up so the DNA isn’t everywhere but my 745 keeps my garage floor from rusting every time I park it. Reason for the pump though is that sometimes after start up I get a system bleeding wine noise. At one point I had the 7 trans out for repair(converter,seals, bushings and 1 solenoid) but I never split the pump.

    Hello,i have e53 3.0i m54,no crank no start,but if the car is pulled and put into 2nd gear released thed start (starting when you don't have working starter) also no alternator charging.What can cause ,no working starter no alternator but start when put into gear and pushed the car?

    Really surprised it's taken Nathan this long to try the switch.. and to think he started going after the starter first! Either way he got there in the end One thing to note, these all have the MS43 DME and personally had this issue where it was taking like 5 tries to get an M54B30 MS43 car to crank, even got this switch and was ready to install it but for whatever reason I thought maybe it's an ews issue and so just cleared adaptations and wrote an ews delete tune and guess what it starts every time now Before never had messed with EWS except when first got the car to make an extra key - reading ews with ak90 not writing to it. This crank issue was like months ago and just the other week wrote a non ews delete tune because was thinking of selling the car and it still starts every time! In the end never installed the replace ignition switch!! Very odd that reflashing dme fixed an intermittent no crank condition ! Reflashed with MS4X Flasher and later the OEM WinKFP euro1 tune ZUSB 7552618 iirc

    Hello, I have the next problem with my e46 316i : I was driving the car and suddenly the engine was running very badly ( like it wasen't enough fuel coming to the engine) and at the first stop light, the engine died. Since than, the engine is not cranking anymore and also, when I turn the key on the 2nd position into ignition, the fuel pump doesn't engage ( I Don't hear the fuel pump working). I replaced the battery with a new one and it's the same. When I try to start de engine, the starter makes only click click click… Can you please help me with some ideas? Why my car doesn't get power at the starter and at the fuel pump? May a bad starter cut the power to the fuel pump also? Thank you for any advice.

    Just got my 335 back from the shop after a no crank no start and of course within the same day im witnessing the same failures from before. They installed a BRAND NEW alternator and starter(BOSCH), New IBS Cable, and also repaired my harness that leads to the leak detection pump.

    Prior to this my car would randomly not start until it attach the battery tender to give some juice. Or unless i would wiggle the IBS neg cable, or the positive. Any ideas nate??

    Sounds like the starter , i had a e90 doing that it would start from a jump pack but not by itself and it was the starter, but hard to tell really

    Are you able to use many beck arnley parts on your BMW's or are they just an emergency if you can't get OEM parts?

    I am having the same problem on my 1998 540ia. I have changed the ignition switch like you did, sent my EWS and DME to be checked, they checked out good, then went throughout the all fuses and wires. No start after all that. Battery voltage 14.2 volts. The only thing left is to replace the starter which I have new one now!!! Which is the only thing left that I have not done! I relied on my Creador 310 scanner and PASoft scan they basically stated an open cable or circuit. So the last thing left is to R&R the starter! Wish me luck!!!

    E39 no crank no start or crank but no start will be the fuses by the ecu , or unplug the MAF and see if it will start

    Theres a few forum posts of people fixing these switches on e46fanatics but it's the same part across all the e38, e39, e53, e46 maybe prelci e83 x3, e36, z3/4 as well It's an issue of oxidation eating away at the contacts or cam/contacts becoming misaligned

    Sup x5 world. 03 x5 3.0 no crank no start. After i diagnosed the x i found out the ecu see the its in D but its in Park tho. Also i can't communicate with my tcm at all So with that say 1. Do i need and ecu ( guessing yes) 2. Does the ecu effect the tcm in anyway 3. Where does the cluster get its indicator for the shift indicator

    Had ignition fail on E39 528 Touring. Cruise control inoperative! Happened twice. Switch made by Valeo, a French company.

    What were the symptoms? I feel like I might be having a similar issue, when I turn the key the ignition will turn on but sometimes the starter won't go, after jerking it in and out for some times it will start.

    I have the same issue, occasionally it turns over but won't fire, then a week it will run fine then it won't fire again, just siluper random, already replaced crank sensor and fuel pump

    FYI When you remove your pcv system from a BMW you compromice your exahast system for corrosion The pcv system removes the moisture it does have more then one purpose. I also am having the intermitant no crank on my 04 3.0 X5 256000 miles I will check my ignition thanks It's a love hate relationship with a BMW

    Hey there ! I have a big issue on my car, its a bmw e90 320d from 2006 and i have this error : 003EED DDE: Power management, closed-circuit current violation. If i delete the error i get it back in one or two days. I have no clue how to fix it.... I changed the ibs cuz a lot of people said that its ibs and its not ! Help please ! Nice video btw

    Looking for a little advice from anyone who might have experience with this problem. I recently picked up a really nice E90, holy crap, I absolutely love that car. Anyway, the adaptive headlights are crapped out. Pulled the codes and it shows the footwell module lost communication with the control modules of both headlights. There is some moisture in the one headlight, so I was guessing that the servo got wet and croaked. The other headlight is still well sealed, though I've read that even a good knock from a pothole can knock the servos out. I just thought it odd that both headlights are spitting out the same code. Is it likely the footwell module stepped through the pearly gates, or should I just go straight to pulling the bumper and headlights off and replacing the servos? I realize this is a six of one, half dozen of the other kind of situation, but though I'd ask anyway.

    I tried 2 times to watch your video. Hell I even tried to READ the transcript. You need to just repair the vehicle and Only talk about what you are repairing. No one cares about the weather ect...It could have been even shorter video with real helpful knowledge. You sound is excellent and quality is good. IJS.
