@Emrullah Atlıkan again it doesn't work like that. It's a hypothetical idea that if this fighter was able to fight in other weight classes how would he do? The problem is that he didn't just run through Volk. He's the best grappler in the UFC but he couldn't submit someone who according to him and many others doesn't have any grappling even though he had Volks back for about 3min! Adding to that Volk came up to Islam's weight. He either needed to destroy Volk or he needs to go up a weight class. Either way he's a great fighter, just not P4P Number 1

@humbleservant it would be different and undeniable if the p4p number 1 was in a weight class above him. Instead a much smaller guy came up to test himself against the champ and gave him a pretty close fight. Islam is great as a great lightweight champion but he fought a smaller guy and made that guy come up to his weight. I don't think you understand the sport

His contentment is on another level despite all the haters, tarnishing, slandering and false accusation. No amount of Gym training can make him to that level state of mind. That's a real champ inside and out.

His belt & win streak. 49-46 or 48-47 in very close fight. 95% MMA expert said that Islam Makhachev is the winner for UFC 284. Wether you like it or not. In UFC 280 Abu Dhabi they said whoever win the belt are going to fight Volkanovski in his next fight. Islam just make the validation for his next fight with him call out Volkanovski. What about Volkanovski? In Abu Dhabi he clearly mentioned "P4P on the line and lightweight on the line, let's do this". UFC also advertise the UFC 284 are fight the best P4P No.1 & No.2. They said "Loser makes excuses and winner making history". After Alex lost and then came out Dan Hooker with his accusation about lV thing without bringing any evidence. And Volkanovski doing interview on Ariel Helwani show also follow up the accusations about that IV thing without any evidence. For me that's the type of loser. I don't think Islam Makhachev should give them rematch. Nothing to gain after all. Volkanovski fight only for entertainment not for P4P, because he clearly makes excuses even after he lost to Islam Makhachev.

Volk used to be 215 lbs and walks around normally comfortably at 180, the fact that he fights at 145 makes him the definition of a weight bully, which I don't believe in, but the point I'm making is that him fighting at 155 is nothing special for a man that has already established he can compete at the top of the UFC. Also being short means nothing as it actually worked to Alex' favor. He won a competitive fight and it was on agreed-upon rules and terms. He deserves what was wagered ever since he submitted Oliveira - the number 1 p4p ranking in exchange for winning the fight against Volk IN AUSTRALIA.

It's just not between Islam and UFC. It's between UFC and eagle fc. They know after these dagestani fighters get their UFC championship they will form a huge mma community and eventually drag the whole community to eagle FC.... That's why they are making it difficult for these guys to come up in general not just Islam. And new UFC signings are also very few for these Russian guys... @1:12 I made the same exact point before watching this, glad they are noticing, UFC's anti-Russia xenophobia and bias will only make a clown show of the league and open up opportunities for other promotions. There is also an overall bias against wrestling style, from both fans and the org, which is crazy considering the sport is Mixed Martial Arts. Its not just the Russians, biases are all over the organisation, its a game of favourites all over - fans, judges, senior management everything, if they don't like you or don't want to win you're fucked regardless of what you do in the cage unfortunately. You can expect fans to be biased but when the org itself play 'the game of favourites' you ruin the credibility of the league. The UFC will keep running the show like soyboys and Ngannou won't be the only talent to exile himself from the org.

its only a shorter re-hydration period because one fighter is sleeping during his rehydration hours therefore has fewer awake hours to hydrate, u can always purposefully alter your sleeping pattern prior to flying to another country to adjust for this

Islam impressed me again by defeating Volk. I don't know why the entire world underestimated Volk. I thought Volk would win easily by a knockout, Islam all full of blood, face cut to pieces. Islam is a good fighter. Now Islam has defeated 2 people, only 2. There's more to go before considering him great.

Couple of bruises and a black eye in the last minute of the 5 rn, volk also has a deep cut in his eyebrow. volk is short but full and strong people keep saying that he got beaten by a short guy making it sime like a disadvantage for volk while it's not. If u rewatch the fight u will see that the most powerful strikes where done by islam and on the ground volk just defended himself expect one round when he manage to land some shots while on his back. In the end volk is a fucking beast and soo strong and islam defeated two champs not just to people👍

He defeated Dana's #3, and #1 P4P in a 4 month period, and Dana refuses to move him into the #1 P4P.

i’m someone who put money on islam to win, and even then i personally scored it for volk. but i have the sense to know well that i am not an mma judge, and for the ufc to not let the winner of a match promoted to decide who’s p4p #1 not have the ranking is insane. the man got his hand raised and a belt around his waist give him the ranking he worked hard and traveled across the world for. respect to him for keeping it classy but i think he should turn full heel in the media after this. if they aren’t going to respect him he should lean into the joking side of him who talks about australian wrestling 😂

Imagine if he had Abdulmanap and Khabib in his corner for this fight. He could have made much more adjustment during the fight, with those two in his corner, not just from a moral pov but from technical pov
