Mary Magdalene. One of the original sinner-to-Christian soul transitions. When I listen to the lyrics of this song, it almost brings tears to my eyes, because the platitude of ‘love’ of which Jesus Christ speaks is completely foreign to her - mainly because she’s been beat-down & abused throughout her enormously difficult life & she probably doesn’t feel worthy of what Christ has to offer. She’s confused & conflicted about her emotions because she’s superimposing ‘romantic love’ over “agape” - the spiritual love Christ imparts to her through His grace & compassion. She doesn’t “get it” at this juncture of her life - but she will - because later on, she will witness the unfathomable sacrifice Jesus Christ endures for mankind… & that’s when she REALLY gets it. ✝️ A blessed Easter to all.

You are taking the Church's version of Mary Magdalene as true-which it is not. Not even close.

This performance was a cover, the original song is by Helen Reddy, an Australian-American singer. This song has nothing to do with any biblical meaning.

@@taropaa Actually, it's from "Jesus Christ Superstar", the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. It's supposed to be Mary Magdalene singing.

@@dmastalir Oh yeah you’re right, I didn’t bother to search it up at the time because I knew I heard the song from Helen Reddy’s movie. So naturally I had thought the song belonged to her since it was in her debut album. I’ve looked it up and it isn’t hers. My bad :/
