This is literally exactly what my teacher told me to do with the turn down from the top. It helped give me more confidence in my instructor. Your lesson has helped me realize that all my own bright ideas to accomplish this easier are garbage because I started doing this turning down action from the takeaway and it wasn’t working. Your lesson also taught me that my grip might be a little strong for this action. I had already tried it on the last round and the smallest tweak in grip resulted in much straighter shots. Finally, I realized how different the technique of full shots vs wedges and pitches was. This is the most valuable episode yet. Thank you Jerome.

Over these last several lessons your spine angle has been getting better and better. Dana also explained why you had the problem which was closed face and not enough depth. Great stuff! I would add one thing to what he said; you now have the club working with the turn back to create more depth instead of working up in the early backswing as you were swinging deeper. This creates a better shallowing pattern of the club on the down swing and gives you more control of the clubhead. Cheers.

Jerome, I just love these sessions you have with Mr. Dahlquist! The sessions are the best in-depth swing instruction I have seen! The positions at each stage of the back swing, from chest extending, to depth and club position at each stage is unparalleled! I have one question on the grip. This exact grip is what I have been working on! Does Dana say the thumb on the lead hand is shortened? I have been taught to have a "short thumb" with this grip. I can't wait to work on these keys in this and the other videos. Keep up the great work on these! Much appreciated!

Great info. Your vids have shown me the lesson I should have had with the side bend. Seems you learn something and forget something. Are you keeping your side bend? We make the mistake of trying to follow the ball without keeping the forehead on the "DoorJam". Side bend, strike the ball, momentum pulls you and your head around and ball should be going where you're aiming within 40sq since there's no real "straight shot". Most ball flights have a shape even the seemingly straight ones. Make sure ball is forward or you'll always hit it right.

I’ll focus on a dimple on the top of the ball but my focus is where the divot will be (in front). There’s no one correct way, as long as you can make ball first contact but a majority of great players had their eyes on the ball but used their peripherals and minds eye to focus in front.

@@simsjamal I see, it sounded like you were agreeing to kinda the opposite lol, my bad. The thing about actually staring in front of the ball is it may help someone who tends to hit fat shots as a drill to develop that feel but doing it all the time can take away from the actual precision of the strikes overall. You can direct your focus in front while still keeping direct eye contact with the ball. But If it works for you, it works, I’m not saying it’s wrong to stare in front of the ball, just that it can affect the precision of your overall hand eye or strike. Speith looked at the hole on short putts for a while which isn’t typical at all obviously. By the way I played and taught professionally from 2006-2018, have apprenticed multiple pros who’ve been in the game a very long time, went to school specifically for golf/business, studied the game my entire life, had my own golf camp for years and have given hundreds of lessons, still do occasionally but also run my own business so golf isn’t my main gig anymore.

Jerom save your money (overdo) on the lessons / golf cart / vids, instead get membership to any course that is within budget and play 4 times a week (at least...).There's no combination of lessons that's gonna "fix" your swing, because the shot(s) you practice with your coach in 1hr sessions (hand grip an adjust inch here there, stance an adjust an inch left right, backswing this / that, elbows a little rotated...) goes out the windows on uneven lies, ground stance, obstacles / wind / slope / rain / morning dew / green speeds / hazards / tee box alignment / hole positions/ stamina / your focus and temperment from hole to hole. Sure get taught the fundamentals... but unfortunately there is no miracles buddy, the reality is... 10,000hrs range time and 10,000hrs course time in order to level up gotta balance the budget $$$ and time coaching and course time (on home and diff courses)+ messing with the equipment... sometimes your on course and the visual surrounding give an illusion and you think your aligned but not..

Disagree. You gotta learn the fundamentals before you take on varying situations. By the way, you can do playing lessons where you can get coaching to adapt to different lies. You can learn how to “save it” and rely on timing if you just learn by playing. You may go low once in a while but your spread of scores will go from 80-105. Proper fundamentals dials that in. Find one coach and stick with them.

A part of that journey is finding a coach you align with the most, and that has brought me to have Dana has my full swing coach, Rick as my mental/performance coach, and a new coach going to be introduced soon as my full time short game coach. I don't have typical lessons, they are going to be with me for the long run (this is a multi year journey, we arent trying to break scratch in a few months), and we train and strategize my development like how a PGA pro has multiple different coaches. We aren't training toward being a scratch player, we train to be a player that is better so that worst case scenario I become a scratch player. I feel like this is a recurring comment throughout my videos, so hopefully this answer provides better context.

@@GDotLevitate I personally believe I'm not going in circles and constantly learning how everything works properly and may not show it yet but my confidence around my game is 10x. There will 100% be a lot of more course vlogs soon! To put it all into perspective we are building for the future and we are still month 10 on the journey. The timeline is 5 years so very very slow and steady in the start but will allow for a much higher ceiling in the future. Thanks for the support and being part of the ride!

@GeorgeGankas - Please help this guy understand how the club face works and the definition of "Find your match". Tomorrow is Valentines day!

To add. The concept is reverse of what this coach is suggesting. Yes, the depth is imperative and it does look better when the grip was weakened. But instead of seeing the clubface as dead shut and weakening the grip (which may still have been necessary) and then squaring the clubface with early hip rotation, think of firing down with right hand release from an inside path without focusing on hip rotation to square the club. You retain much of the space created by the depth in the backswing and it allows the club to come into the ball from a decent inside path. As someone who has failed too many times with early rotation, this is a golden queue.

Way too many people focus on this concept of rotating the hips to begin the downswing. It creates 2 way misses, poor contact and inconsistent flight. The point about the backswing is to create space so the club can move down into position from an inside path. As soon as you over focus on early rotation you are effectively removing that space and you either get stuck and have to overwork the hands to close the clubface or have to rush the hands in front of the body, hold off and pivot without ever releasing the club properly.

Why the f#$&k are you getting your marble’s confused by all these coaches. So far I have seen you go through at least two dozen coaches. Just go to one good coach and work on what he teaches you.

Dude, that face on part showed evertything I needed to see. Watch your head on the backswing, it's MOVING!!! STOP IT!!!! DO NOT MOVE YOUR HEAD BACK WITH THE SWING.... leave it still over the ball!!!!!!!!. Second.... Put your right hand more OVER your left.... it will keep you from hooking or over drawing. Your right hand will effectively keep your left from rolling... TRY IT!!!

I’d watch more of your videos if 2 things happened #1) your all over the place with different instructors. No wonder your so confused #2) your videos are too long. Keep the to 15 min or less otherwise many including myself won’t bother watching.

I loved watching you go for a round as an amateur golfer and beginner but the last few months your videos are of no interest to an average golfer are you ever going back on a course again
