    Your progress is nothing short of amazing. The biggest mental block for me has been (and is) taking the feeling from the range to the course. Frustration sets in, analyzing takes over, everything becomes tight....right into the dumpster. I'm learning from your work with Chris that I need to spend waaaaaay more time doing the drills at home. Getting good habits = less analyzing on the course!

    I've always preferred a pretty weak grip but I'll lose the ball to the right. So I strengthened my grip like you and I do the 3 part/pause takeaway that is your drill. I hit most of my irons with a slight pull draw at the range yesterday but was able to straighten them later. I pulled out the driver and boomed several. When I got too aggressive, I hooked them pretty bad. But it was nice finding the left side of the range for once and getting more distance. Thanks to you and your coach. Btw, I love Chris' swing. Dude waits forever before that club comes down on the downswing. Just hangs back there. Sweet! I need to watch it at 1/4 speed. And no more excuses. You've found out how important the short game is - practice it more.

I think the 2 top things you're doing to improve in such a short time are: 1) You are putting in the work, it is one thing to get lessons but putting in the range work is just as important and 2) Love Chris Smeal style of teaching. Been watching many of your lessons lately but this one i have to somewhat disagree with. I get you’re only hitting a short iron but i still advocate for weight shift even on short irons vs the instructor telling you to keep weight forward and never shift any back. No sway of course but there is still weight shift on full shots even with short irons. It allows a more fluid, athletic motion. What people tend to do on full shots starting and keeping weight forward without knowing initially is push off front foot and fall back during swing creating thins and chunks

  • @LightningDogg

    @LightningDogg

    Жыл бұрын

    @DIOS10 I believe you are incorrect. Probably 85% of golfers have difficulty with hitting the ball right, or a slice. If you can eliminate the factor of hitting right (for a right hander), it's much easier to figure out how to make minor corrections to work with a draw, or eventually hit "straighter" shots. I think any golf teacher will tell you that. Most PGA pros, although they can work the ball left or right, play with a natural draw.

  • @musikfranc

    @@LightningDogg yeah fair enough, but fair amount of pga pros, rather hit a fade, as if mishit the destruction is not as bad like a hook / pull , as we know the ball will hit more trouble going left as well is more controlled. But it’s all about opinions.

  • @LightningDogg

    @LightningDogg

    Жыл бұрын

    @DIOS10 I may have misstated my point. Chris doesn't want him to play using a hook or pull. It's merely the first step to correcting leaving the face open at contact. When he can eliminate that 99% of the time, then he can learn what adjustments to make to achieve a square face AND play a draw or fade by choice. You are correct about having options but PGA pros have knowledge of every facet of their swing, and correct accordingly. A beginner doesn't have those options, and the open face at contact is a death sentence until corrected. Just my opinion. Cheers
