You know in most stories the Guild would have been the ones to screw him over. Here it's simply a result of the "good guys" not thinking their plan through.

The pacing, the music, the build up and the climax between a clever plan coming together with just one tiny detail slipping his mind. It makes this scene so genius, so powerful.

This was probably one of the most tragic scenes in the series, for me. Billy's so desperate to have things in control, but everyone's always dragging him around. "I cheated!" is so heartbreaking. He just wanted to be heard all his life about what he wants, instead of people always telling him what he isn't. Also chilling how Phantom Limb's origin was practically his own doing.

I always thought limb saw himself in Billy. Billy wants to be a boy adventurer like Rusty, and Limb wants to be the sovereign like his grandfather. But they both couldnt because of Pete white or OSI in Billy’s case, or being disinherited in Limbs.

It was a fake robotic eye, it's not connected to anything, just wirelessly synced to his hand as a capture device.

You know what this means? In some regards, Billy Quizboy was responsible, at least in part, for the creation of Phantom Limb!

He did lose the eye in the dogfight, it was a a prosthetic eye that flew out at 1:58, which is why the eye freaking exploded, it was a spy-eye that he got from the OSI

Some people are saying part of the creation of Phantom Limb is on Billy, others suggest it was the Guild's doing. While, yes, theres a few drops of blood on their hands, but its mostly on Hamilton's hubris to egg on further and further pushing the envelope. The rush got to him.

It was a fake eye.

Personally I don't think anything Billy did caused Phantom Limb to get Phantom Limbs. The guild likely manipulated things so that he would get Phantom Limbs from the very Beginning. The accident would have always happened because the machine was set up exactly as the guild wanted it to.

It’s called Plucked. It’s in the Venture Bros volume 2 soundtrack. I know because I embarked on the same journey. It can be found on Apple Music, or purchased independently on vinyl, CD or mp3
