Nope, in 1949 kissing was reserved for when the relationship was starting to get serious (i.e. thinking about marriage) which a couple of kids wouldn’t know if they’d wanna do all that after just one date. Also, back then, it was pretty common for someone to be dating more than 1 person at time, you wouldn’t be exclusive with someone until you’re pretty sure you’d wanna marry them.
