A lot of people have said just what you said - that you felt safe with metres away. I have known people who have naively said that about hippos and other wild animals and been killed by a hippo and other wild animals. They can change in a second. Don’t be a fool and die as a result. You are a lovely person and I don’t want that. Remember, I have a lot of knowledge and immense experience in the wild of Southern Africa.

I see the Katie weigh bridge ( at the end of the video) is still as busy as ever.

Now you know why herd animals roll in the dirt-to get rid of a few things including smell or body odor. Even birds take a sand bath! Humans have many parts that help produce body waste, thus, without constant attention, hyenas would look more neat than humans. All to say that while some of that is expected on travel like the one here, that maybe why there are also giant rivers: to indulge the tattered body and free it from the toxic-like smell😁

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me saying this: I was raised South Africa - Born and bred. I served in the army in the Angolan bush and have spent a lot of my life in the bush. . Trust me, be very careful around Hippo. They are wonderful animals but besides malaria, they are the biggest killer in Africa.They are very aggressive and change in a moment, even thou they look so cute. You need to be in your car or tent when they are around.No such thing as a tame Hippo. Someone in SA had one as a “pet” (I hate people keeping wild animals as pets.They need to stay in the wild) and the Hippo “pet” eventually killed him! Have a good trip.
