FIRST BREAKDOWN WITH MY TOYOTA HILUX IN AFRICA |S2EP31|
I finally left the South Luangwa and its beautiful Wildlife Camp to try a track into the wild to the North Luangwa National Park. The owner of the wildlife camp warns me a few times that I shouldn't drive it since it's not a road and that Rafiki, my Toyota Hilux, is not equipped with a winch. Overlanders and tourists normally drive from the South Luangwa straight to Malwai via the cute town of Chipata. Obviously, it doesn't appeal me, but that crazy track does.
I leave the surroundings of Mfuwe and I start to drive that veeeeery long drive to the North Luangwa. I cross tones of very small villages in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I also have to drive through a few game reserves and technical 4x4 challenges are on the way.
I drive for 9 hours and I have not arrived yet when, in the dark, and in the middle of the last game reserve, Rafiki hit a very deep pothole. I hear a massive sound coming from the load bed. I need to get out and see what's going on. But I also hear hyenas screaming and lions roaring around, so I decided to exit through the driver's window with a torch and a knife.
The load bed is completely broken and I'm in a game reserve at night........ First breakdown of the adventure.... Watch the video to see what happened next....!

Charline I liked the start of the video where you showed us where you were shopping - nobody else shows us the real life stuff as good as you. Ahh but when you started down that "road" and you were nervously talking to Rafiki, well, that made me nervous! Oh the drone views were breathtaking! It was so interesting driving through the villages, even if it was very shaky! That was so funny when you and the ladies played football with the kid's football! Yes I felt so very sorry for you when your load bed broke and you were SO tired!
