Took my mum to buy a Rolex for my sister's fiance. There were 15 sales people, and the sales rep laughed at my mum asking the price of a simple Datejust. Went over to JLC. Nothing is worth sacrificing self-esteem over. I get my watches from boutiques, and the Sales Reps who actually treat people like humans. Congratulations to you!

@@callmedru The problem is Rolex's business strategy. They don't own any boutiques - hence the staff is not Rolex staff. Their model of only doing business through a B2B Strategy has led to this astronomical inflation in the market - giving rise to unscrupulous characters destroying their brand. When you go to ALS, JLC, or Cartier - you're dealing with employees of the brand, they're trained to treat their customers properly. The AD's know they have a product anybody will buy, so they don't care.

Was in Vegas on Labor day and me and my buddy passed in front of the AD, Popped into see what they had and there was 5 pudwhackers paid by Rolex to tell me they didn't have a single men's peice to sell. They had like 6 peices on display... one tiff blue that were already sold and only on display so they said. Me and my buddy were thinking then why show them. Matter of fact why and the Fuck are all 5 of u standing around when all u have are ladies peices to sell. I'm wearing a vintage DJ 2 tone buddys wearing a Plat day date. They looked at us like we were idiots / bums. Guess Rolex ADS pay very well in Vegas. Lol, these guys looked like total idiots too.

I'm getting mine too in this exact spec, so excited. Left my enquiry for a year at an AD in Zurich. Your video is spot on, I think purchase history is very important.

Congrats, Marko! I got mine (36 as well, but the Tiffany blue!) from my AD 3 months ago. I'm a just a basic customer there with only 1-2 purchases during the last 5-6 years. But we had a good relationship and I was told that they will get one for me but it will take some time. That was fine for me. This was in fall 2020. I called them two times until June 2021 just to ask friendly about the situation. One month later I was told that they had one in stock for me! So I had to wait 9 months in total. Maybe it's not that easy to get a steel Rolex at retail but if you really wanna have one you will get one in the end. Just look for an smaller AD with not that many customers compared to big cities and be polite. If you show enough interest and ask from time to time you will probably get one eventually. Most of us just don't wanna wait... but it's no rocket science at all imho... Therefore I will never understand that the cheapest 36mm OP's are listed at 12-13k+ Euro at the moment here in Germany.

even though the oyster perpetual is the entry level Rolex, I love it more than all their other models (the milgaus is a close second). Somehow its design language speaks to me more than the rest. Vintage submarines are also nice but I think there it's the "vintage" part that's doing it for me as I have no desire to ever own a new one. in short: cool new watch man, it looks fantastic on you.

I'm not normally that big a fan of the colorful OP dials, but this yellow one actually looks great in the video. I'm all for the 36 mm myself, think it fits such a simple classical timepiece much better than than the upscaled version. I'm biased though, since I got the OP 36 Bright (classic) Blue myself. :-)

I got myself the same model in 41mm and I love it! The yellow dial just pops and the loom is incredible! Worth the retail price but definitely not the prices going for on Chrono24/secondary market in general.

Bought silver champagne dial 41mm in our AD and in waiting list for Tiffany blue dial and so regret missing green dial which I had in my hands and didn’t get few months ago… waiting for few more watches which are in my waiting list and having lovely person from my country in AD who I know around 17 years and who always notifies me what model is in store.. I love this model and one thing which I noticed that a bracelet on both OP 41mm was exactly fit my wrist ( previously it was longer and needs to set up in AD)…. That’s a great looking watch. I bet it looks better in person. Many years ago I was looking to buy a torch lighter, the salesman showed me a yellow torch lighter and I love it. I still have that lighter. I like 36 mm watches, I prefer 38 - 39 mm but I a have a couple of Omegas that are 42 mm. Very nice video. Thank you.

Yea, in person this watch. dial behaves a bit differently, you can also see it on the video when I change the angle but it´s even more visible. in person. It´s a nice everyday watch.

awesome video! i love the yellow dial and the red dial ! i got lucky and got the call for a blue dial 36 126000 i love it!

I got a 41 red. I was also on the list for the yellow, but of course you take the one you are offered. I love it and 41 works really well on my wrist. I think the best would have been for Rolex to offer it in just 39, like the old OP. But I am very happy with it. The red is actually not as flashy as i thought it would be, even in 41. In these times of teleworking from home, it has become the watch i wear most: the perfect casual wear, and the perfect summer watch.

@@Kreisy1510 you need to know how to read : i said i was ALSO on the list for a yellow, meaning i had put myself on the list for the red as well. Meaning i had ordered both but could not be allocated both. I had put both to increase my chances of getting one of them and would be happy with either. What is it you do not understand?

it is still at its core a basic watch, that can be used everyday and can also be worn in a formal situation. the yellow dial does add a bit of funk to it though. OPs are those simple understated sophisticated watches that only work in conservative sizes in my opinion. it does look very classy on you. congrats!

Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing. The yellow is really quite beautiful. Knowing that Federer was seen wearing one already indicates why they may be harder to get or fetching higher prices. Luckily he was wearing the 41mm, and like you I would want the 36mm. It is not a “women’s size” as I’ve heard before. What more proof do you need other than the 2021 Explorer went back to being a 36mm case? That watch is also high on my list.

Great details on this watch! I will prefer the 41mm size and maybe a dark blue color for the dial, but the price is so high, I will rather stay with my Japanese ones. I still can appreciate the mechanical precision of the movement that doesn't have to be so expensive (even to mantain) to be a workhorse. I will wear my cheaper ones with less fear to scratch them. Anyway, this timepiece is really gorgeous.

nice review! i personally like the OP36 very much, back in 2020 i wanted the blue version with the "explorer dial". unfortunately the watch got discontinued and i didn't get one. the new OPs are obviously better, better powerreserve, easylink in the clasp for only a few francs more. however i don't like the fact that you only get the watch in different dialcolours and not with different indices. even if i wanted a blue dial watch, which imo looks best (talking about the sunburst dial) i'm now looking to get the new Explorer in 36mm. hope it won't take too long to wait.

Fantastic video of a fantastic watch. Base model or not, this is one of the most beautiful / cool watches Rolex makes. Waiting for my AD to call for one that will be a surprise gift to my lovely lady. I’ll get her the Tiffany blue hopefully in 41mm so I can wear it or better to say steal it 😂

One question I have, do you think your profile, being a part of the industry, knowing so many people in the industry and watch collectors plus being on KZread/ IG/ social media helped you get it? Appreciate the video Marko, great choice! I'm going for the green palm dial DJ, smooth bezel/ oyster and I'm going after it hard. I'm hopeful but I have no purchase history so there's no telling if I'll ever get it. I will not pay secondary prices.

One would think so but unfortunately not because on paper with the retailer I am just a profile and as you see I didn´t mention them anywhere so they have no social media push because of my purchase. Sometimes it does work but not with the big hyped brands and models. I bought a few watches from them and they were also different brands + one pre-owned watch which helps.

@@Nefville That's a good way to go about it. If you think about it, they also have to win as a store right? So if you only get Rolexes and they "reward" you as stupid as it sounds it's good ti reward them back sometimes by taking a watch off their hands that they can't move right away. Of course that watch also has to be to your liking but you get what I mean.

I’m not sure if I would buy a Rolex with a yellow dial but this one does look good, congratulations!!! 👍🏽

Such a shame Rolex discontinued the 39mm size, as well as the black dial and especially the white dial, which is hands down the best OP Rolex has ever made. 39mm is the sweet spot for the OP. The only Rolex I like in 36mm is the Explorer

I like that yellow now that I see it on your wrist (and Roger’s). Didn’t’ think I would. But that turquoise dial would be my #1 choice in this watch at 36mm,

I read somewhere that people can change their dial colours at Rolex for 700 ish euro starting from next year and they send the original dial back too. I think that certain colours will fall in prices at the grey market if people start knowing this. Loving the 36mm btw!

I own one Rolex, previous 39mm black, similar it's an entry level and bought other watches, Grand Seiko, Omegas etc..Paid list which a bit more than the OP. Love that color, if I could I'd get they yellow but it 41mm. I understand the presence of a dial is more pronounced then on a diver or other similar bezel. The retail is fair, but it's not worth the price you'd pay on the secondary market. Slightly off topic, there's not much difference between my Ball Fireman and Explorer in looks. Of course the Rolex has a superior movement, but there is something to be said for tritium indices. Got a good deal on the ball $890 to the door from an AD is Singapore. I'm happy I found your channel. Lots of good common sense.

My DJ41 arrived as well earlier then expected and I just collected it 2 weeks after I got the call after I told them which day I would come to pick it up. Wasn‘t a problem at all.

Do you think the 34mm would still be a more or less "good" investment? Maybe this purchase will also help me to get my Air King faster:)

Hey. 34 is an excellent size and they're still pretty much all over retail at this point, 31mm too. The black dial is less rare than the color ones but I don't think you'll loose money, you just won't have a big rise in price increase. My cousin's wife wears a 31mm green OP and it suits her great, depends on the wrist size obviously. I think you might get the Air King faster, although retailers might limit how many Rolexes you get per year but since it's a small one I think it should be fine. If you're looking for a 34mm, there are some nice pieces from their Pre-owned section and they will value you even more if you buy that versus a new model.

It looks like Rolex has learned from companies like Supreme or Hermes and is toying with its clients artificially cutting supply to create exclusivity and demand. It is a double-edged sword.

Beatiful watch. I would love to get a OP myself. But i think you should go for the 41mm which is actually closer to 39mm

Heres how I did it. I went to an AD in Asia and asked about the watch, got the usual waiting list BS. Went back a few weeks later and spoke to the same AD. He apologized, sorry no stock, and looked embarrassed that I was back so soon. The next week I get the phone call. Persistence pays off.
