Hi Lisa! Fun fact- the reason you feel that “vibrating” sensation when you eat spicy foods is because it triggers the same pain receptors in your skin that react to heat, called polymodal nociceptors. These are pain fibers that exist all over the body. The spicy food excites those receptors and we feel the sensation of ‘tingling’ or ‘vibration’. 🙂

As a child I was afraid of eating those spicy noodles coz my spice tolerance was severely low. I admired the kids my age who willingly asked to have spicy noodles and foods for snack time though. Now I love spicy foods and I often look for spicy noodles in grocery stores. Younger me would be proud, though she'd be disappointed at the same time coz I only started eating spicy stuff before I finished college, which wasn't that long ago.

Mint is also spicy but prevents your mouth from bad breath and its also cold so shes basically tasting 2X fire
With so many people trying the spicy challenges I was trying to do as much research as I could about what works best for spicy food to calm the spice & this is what I found. Basically once you reach into these higher scoville ranges you're pretty stuck with the spice for about 20 min. The bread will help absorb any surface chili oils out of the mouth & everything remaining is only fat soluble so whole milk & ice cream will help break it up. The reason for the 20 minutes is because hot peppers cause a chemical reaction in the brain & the higher scoville brings a longer reaction because your brain thinks something is burning you which is why you make a ton of saliva, snot & tears to try & flush it out & it takes about 20 min for your brain to decide you're safe.

One time I tried Carolina reaper beef jerky thinking it was regular beef jerky and it was the worst experience ever. She definitely built up a spice tolerance to handle that lol.
This reminds me of the time I made noodles at my grandmothers.. went to add some pepper flakes, and used to POUR side instead of the SIFT side 😭 I tried not to waste them (not knowing that noodles were dirt cheap as a child) and by the third bite, the heat coming off the noodles mixed with the heat from the pepper flake was unbearable. My grandma laughed as she found me dying from the heat 😂😂😂

Love to be able to taste other flavours but love these videos!
I know it’s hard to find full fat yogurt but the reason yogurt isn’t a long term spice defeater is because there wasn’t enough fat in it. My best spice defeaters are Peanut butter mixed with a liberal amount of honey Highly concentrated sugar syrup or a thick maple syrup Full fat yogurt I’ve been a long time spicehead so I’ve got my methods down. 😂
