Nice job. At 74, I can't work off the floor anymore. Everything needs to be bench height. I just built a bathroom vanity. I bought a good turbine paint sprayer. Takes only 10 minutes or less to spray on a coat of finish. Good investment of$450

Love is not shown by just our words but more fully by our hands.

How you did that w/o a table saw and a thickness planar blows my mind. Mad skillz brother. I’m very impressed.

Weird thing is he has a table saw, not sure why he didn't use it to rip all the 1x12's. A planer, jointer, and table saw are shop must haves really....but of course you can do the same stuff with hand tools, just takes longer.

You done good, Brother Heath! Another amazing piece of concept and build; Cedar will cherish it forever and you have created an heirloom for generations untold! And an absolute "out of the park" home run with your son; you heard him out, gave him sweet comfort and let him know his sadness was a concern and then gave him an immediate solution and a promise to fix it, sealed with another hug and a kiss. By the way, forgot to mention the father son time is priceless. He will remember this moment more than you know. I lost my dad Nov. 15th 2014. He built me and my sister our own baby cradle which is beautiful and a book shelf I designed with him and worked with him building and detailing it. They were built strong to last and with love. Love watching your channel and love Cedar already, she is a sweet lady. God bless.

It's great that you didn't sand out all of the rough sawn, saw blade markings. The stain highlights them so well. Really gives the console, character.

My father was loving, just in his own way. I never felt unloved by either parent, they were just not demonstrative. I was the youngest of 7 and the 2nd child (a sister) past away at age 12 (I was only 2 1/2) so can only imagine (no not really) what that does to a parent. She past from asthma in my dads arms.....so maybe from that day he starting building a wall to stop feeling. He was a wonderful dad, gentle and calm (mum was the 'insane', yelling and demanding one) but not a particularly giving one. I will remember forever the day I had to pass on that my aunt had passed (mum was not home and it was her sister-one she got on with better), so I called dad and told him and for the first time in my then 16yr life I seen dad cry and he hugged me. I felt a little selfish taking the comfort of his hug that cost a life to get, I know it was not connected like that but I was young. We all learn to parent as we do, some turn what was hell for them into hell for their kids. Others coddle as they were. I made sure to show not just tell my kids I loved them. Still do now and they are in their 30's.

That was amazing.... if for some reason you ever need a sideline for income, clearly making furniture would be on the list...

Most of that store stuff is nothing but glued together sawdust and/or wood ships, a move or 2 destroys it. Nothing beats dimensional lumber built furniture. In the end it costs about the same, by the time you buy that off the shelf store stuff a couple times you've already saved by just building it once yourself LOL. I just built a simple cabinet for my TV stand, nothing fancy. The old entertainment center we had didn't survive 1 move before it fell apart completely it was made out of glued together saw dust. Don't miss that thing at all, the simple pine TV stand I built works great, and if I wanted to I could take it apart to move it or modify it pretty easily.
