I owned one I got cheap and went thru the whole bike. The only part I didn't like was the fact that those engines need shims to adjust the valves, which is a real pain in the ass to adjust. Other than that, they are fun as hell to ride with plenty of power.

Trash those pods and make a air box as close to the oem as you can, the battery box is in the way but it looks like theres room for a box. Awesome build man, Keep it goin!! My favorite bikes are the XJ series, the Secas are fun and the Maxim is such an awesome cruiser/sports bike. Im on my 2nd Maxim 750 right now

I have a 82 xj 750 maxim. Only thing left on the bike is the pod filters and trying to jet for them. The bike will idle and rev good. But coming just when you first blip the throttle, there is a stutter and then will rev after that. Maybe jets aren’t big enough, running 126 mains and 43 or 45 pilots can’t remember. Any suggestions? Your bike is coming out beautiful. Love the content. Good luck with the build!

I want to put forward controls on my xj700. Where'd you get the linkages?

I bought a kit from TC BROS. It comes with the linkage but you have to cut it to size and assemble it aswell.

If you ever want to you can swap out your swing arm extend it out with fat tire it'll also give you extra room to work with.. I new the bike motor had a problem.. Some good advice to no so you no you getting a good motor and bike.. is to watch front of motor and frame behind front rake... Watch for cracks, rust and loose exhaust.. If loose and muffler looks messed with skip buying it's sign of internal work and bad valve issues more then likely. But I'd think about swapping swing arm.. Also those motors are very inexpensive to replace get a swap for $600.
