@@joelt8887 I dug through these comments specifically trying to track down that Speedo.
Please respond and tell me about your tach/speedo and how you wired it. I'm doing a Maxim now and need to know

I thought the bike came out nice i have one now I just wish u took more time in showing how you put the engine parts together in slow motion. I have some parts on my bike that I’m trying to figure out

Thanks! I didn't rebuild the engine at all, just swapped it... what are you having trouble with?
Trying to do the same to mine…where did you get the exhaust…? And the odometer….? Cheers

What would you say the cost of the entire build was? Ball park. You killed it! I've been looking at getting one of these XJ's.

It was a budget build. Just about $1000 total. Including the cost of the bike.
Looks good, but it's not a cafe racer. The seat is all you have in that direction.
Any chance someone could pay you to do another with a 1983 Maxim xj750?

I'm not a pro by any means. I wouldn't feel right taking anyone's money. I worked on it for about 6 months, so it wouldn't really be cost effective. It really has to be a labor of love.
What did you do in order to get a title ..??

Kind of a long story, but in short I was lucky because it was out of the dmv system so I just had to make a story about how it had been sitting and the paperwork was lost. Then had to do a chp vin verification
Can you make a list of the parts with links?????

Just title swap at that point. Cops won't know the difference
What jets did you use? Or did you buy a kit. Nice build though 👍🏻
@joelt8887

I bought a couple of micro drill bit sets for the jets and made inserts for the pods out of a brass sink drain pipe. I didnt have it tuned properly in the video but it runs great now! Happy to go into more detail if you want.

@@joelt8887 Hi Joel. When you had the sweat bands on the filters were the jets untouched and if so how did it run?
@joelt8887

@@philiphempell1435 the carb jets were stock. I just put the sweat bands on to get it running. Ran ok until about 6k. I've drilled out my jets and have it running much better now.

@@joelt8887 Thanks for the reply. Do you think that the bands were still letting too much air and that their length would need to be longer to avoid drilling or rejetting? I'm thinking of trying this approach on a new bike project because I don't really want to get involved in dismantling the carbs.

@@philiphempell1435 I actually cut the bands to allow more airflow, then folded them and adjusted them equally until it performed decently.

Motorcycle Cafe Racer Seat... www.amazon.com/dp/B07H27VCHT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The gaps between the seat and side panels are ugly as fuk, another classic butchered,not running right either,sputters in high rpm bad coils or bad valve maybe.
