Me too! There's not too many more things that are more satisfying than building a new shop, especially so when you have years of ideas and cool things you've seen in other shops that you want to do. That lil'Gal won't be getting too much sleep for the next year or so! ...😜

Alex, make sure to get a really good fire suppression and alarm system put in. You're going to have your entire life wrapped up in the place, protect it as best as you can. i.e cameras that work aimed properly and backup off site to the cloud.

solid suggestion, is something easily overlooked! and i agree, just not with cloud, it isnt entirely safe, my friend has a job just helping companies that have been hacked/ransomed , most of the time their cloud account. loads of easy back doors to even 'secure' cloud services. best practice i think is back up to your own server off grounds instead of third party cloud service! and sorry if this is what was meant in your comment just wanted to clarify incase they watching and go ahead.

You have to get a company to sponsor you a hub Dyno. That's my first idea. Build yourself some lofts like your dad has to store your carbon front ends and parts. Great job girl. Everyone looks excited and I'm happy for you.

Outstanding idea! (a -50’s ~ -60’s service station or auto dealership theme) I was cringing when she started talking about all the black painted ceilings & walls she wanted...that place will look like she took over a failed discotheque!

I'd build an open loft overlooking the center shop space for the ultimate office, lounge, and chill spot. I'd also consider using that back space as a divided dirty space for all the general cutting, grinding and welding, it would make a tremendous difference in how clean the shop stays for prep work.

A series of large space renovation videos (time lapse ?) would be interesting for those considering a similar project, plus your fans will be excited to see the transformation 😎

1st, check if zoning allows a guest suite, then check if insurance would cover mixed use. You'll need an electrician to put light switches in, breakers shouldn't be used like that. Re use all that wood you plan on removing, or sell it on. Epoxy floor only the public areas, grey or red concrete paint is way cheaper. Plan & build like the t.v & youtube $$ will dry up next week, and renovate in stages, pay that morgage off quick. Get a real good cctv & alarm system, & have the hvac looked at by someone you trust.

Congrats on your new shop! It’s a beautiful place to move forward with your career. Your family must be proud of your accomplishments! You are truly Blessed to have such amazing Parents to be beside you in your journey!

Congratulations you deserve this. On the apartment you should definitely consider a two story floor plan with a full kitchen / dining area, bathroom and small hangout area downstairs for you mom who keeps everyone going in crunch time and your daytime crew. Then upstairs include a full size bedroom and a living room that has several couches that can be a comfy hang out room but double as additional sleeping space for your when you have extra help, the upstairs can’t extend further into storage area than the downstairs and you can continue the upstairs part further as upstairs storage with access by the forklift from the door side of building. Definitely need to work with the city to make the ditch a driveway to your dads shop ASAP. Also consider making the entire storage room two stories or part of it a two stories and open a doorway by roll up door into storage area so the forklift can be used to place things up top to utilize your space the best you can.

Congrats on the new shop!!!! Recently (last 2 mo) purchased a new home with land and a shop onsite; best feeling ever to have your own space for creativity, while trying to grow my KZread following. It's so cold where I'm located that I've not been able to setup my space but looking forward to Spring/Summer '23. Congratulations on your new shop I know it's a big step but and a remodel is always a uphill battle but this is truly going to be great for your family and for you to be this close to your folks place you've got a watchdog on site which is even better. Can't wait to see what it turns into. Looking forward to the Grand opening too. Also you said something through the video about wanting to make a Fab shop/welding shop that extra back room would probably be an easier spot to ventilate and not have crap settling on everything in the big area if you've got cars in there you want to keep their finish as fresh as possible and keep the dirt down in that area. And considering the back door is so jacked up you might put a garage door in that spot for getting materials in and out of easier. Just something I've noticed from running grinders and my welders in my own shop.
