Tearing down the 392 Hemi for the 41 Willys! What's Wrong?👀
To see the first episode, click the link below:
• Hemi Got Hurt! Race Ca...
If you saw the last episode, you know that we are pulling this 41 Willys out of the corner after 10 years of sitting! When DT parked it, he swore it had a melted piston. And that's the story we have gone with for all of that time. Turns out, we may have a different culprit for what seemed like only having 7 cylinders. Join us as we tear down the 392 Hemi, and uncover all of its secrets and goodness hiding inside.

The intelligence stored in the head of Dennis is incredible. His talent as a fabricator is incredible. Love this video series.

It's insane, now most of us just use Google like a calculator on a math test. I pay attention to everything he speaks on as to how he got here and his progression of business because we function better without needing the crutch(calculator) and it's nice when someone can point out some booby traps to not step in. My biggest take away from him is I need to get my ass in a higher gear. It's conceivable that to really learn from one's mistakes you almost have to just throw yourself blind into problems and learn your way out.
FINALLY, a Friday evening with the most badass father/daughter combo out there!! Awesome Willy's!!! "you may be cooool, but you're not pulling a blown, alcoholic 392 out of a Willy's... WITH YOUR NAME ON THE TIMING CHAIN COVER cool" 😅😅
Man I love the history on this race car ❤ Please tell me the man Dennis is gonna run this gem when it's brought back to the glory it deserves

Love those old willys
Crane Ignition units were also good until Harvey Crane passed away, and then I don't know if they started using cheaper components but the quality wasn't there anymore
Haha, he said he cleared his cashe and needs to bring his literal memories back into RAM. That's great!!
you could not ask for a better daughter! Alex is the dream daughter and a very neat person with a very cool and smart dad. really like the vids..
That's a Dennis Tayler original coined term, One day you will realize its 10 years later.
When I was a Kid the 41 Willys was My favorite body style. 😉👍
"It must suck to be you." 😂 True father daughter language!
As far as I'm concerned you guys can ramble anytime you want on voiceovers...it was 14 minutes of great conversation.
Dennis…you say you have a bad memory 🤦♂️ you have probably forgotten more about motors than many of us have ever known. The diary is the most valuable advice you can give any Motörhead (or anyone really). We all have projects that we don’t get back to as soon as we think…and we NEVER remember as much as we think we do or will…over document and take pictures…with todays technology it is much easier and doesn’t have to be pen and paper…zip-locks and a Sharpie plus a camera and video…I will use the “speech to text” to dictate notes even. 99% of it will never be looked at again…but for that 1% it is all worth it.
I'm so glad your Mom made one more Willys.Cream of the crop! Please keep it running!
Dennis is a very smart guy, you are very lucky to have him as a teacher and a father.
Watching this engine come apart is proof of just how well Dennis built this originally. Over the top craftsmanship in every part.
I’m really glad you started down this road with your dad and that neglected old school project car. I’m older and I like your dad, even though I still like and follow you Alex. On KZread and Motortrent. There’s still a lot to be learned from the old man, I believe. Before we put him out to pasture. LOL (I think I’m older than him)

I think Dennis is around my age ( in his 60s) but he is still kicking but and not slowing down that much but it's coming...i admire this man as a great dad first and his knowledge of building hotrods second.
North Alabama 56 yr old Love You and Alex ..your awesome and a wizard in many ways. I can fully relate to instantly forgetting someones name.
This is like watching an encyclopedia in real life. Awesome!
I've been been around Drag racing since the 70s as a kid and actually started in 1985. I really enjoy watching. Thanks.
nice to hear someone hate working on old project. it motivates viewers
I love the interaction with you and your dad! Me and my dad were like this, along with some good arguments lol, cherish these moments Alex! Lucky for you,it's recorded! I lost my dad 20 years ago and I still miss him!
“Didn’t run when parked” 🤣🤣
A great team of father and daughters
It is So fun to watch You and Your POP doing really cool stuff. Thanks for bringing us all along! Happy Easter (Resurrection Sunday) !!
Absolutely love Dennis Willies and the hemi could listen to you talk about that all day. Alex your relationship with your dad is so awesome you two deserve all the success. Love y’all.
Love the voice over! You need to do more of this. Comedy Gold!
Lot of different projects to come...buzzy and funny 2024 year for sure!
Ur facial expressions when u don't think ur dad is watching are hilarious!!
The next time you loose audio I think Dennis should speak for Alex and Alex for Dennis😂 It is so cool to see Dennis say I couldn't find a timing cover so I made a mold and cast one. That is the type of hot rodder that is from a time before... making rockers is another thing that is just too cool. Thank you for keeping us posted!

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he was successful..............many tried , failed and gave up.............serious geometry issues on those old hemi 's..........just looking at the angles is scary.............
Bullet cam! That's probably who Nolan's waiting on
Love the “that one tight too? Screwdriver over there” Alex can do it!
Can't wait to hear it run again
I said years ago Dennis needs a channel! This is good.
The voice over stuff is fun and informative. No way would I skip thru it.
I love the voice over banter. It reminds me of “Mystery Science Theater 2000”. You just the theater shot for the clip.
Alex you an inspiration not only to your fans your dad Dennis to he really didn't seem interested in the gasser rebuild. Glad you have such a great connection with Dennis love your channel
I remember the first time I pulled headers off of a 440 and coolant was pouring out of the bolt hole my Chevy mind could not comprehend what was happening!
I really love these family style videos. It’s super interesting watching y’all wrench on this old school Willys knowing what you know about race cars now.
I think I missed the old man’s catch phrase. Maybe it ends with Stay Healthy! 😊
Cannot wait to see more of this archeological dig. Love it!
I am horrible with names, i have cousins that i can be talking to and think to myself, "Who is this?". I literally have to see you everyday, for you to sit in my mind at all
I feel ya on the "past that" chapter in your life... 😂 I bought a great car from a friend like you for the same reason... He kept the engine and found the problem a few months later. It was a simple fix that he had just not expected. I was extactic because it meant my first tube chassis, narrowed rear, tilt front cap race car. ❤️ As a teenage kid, a dream come true 😊 God is good
Nothing is boring with you two, great old gasser, thanks for sharing!
lol the voice over part is gold 😂 especially the explosion 😂
Holy macaroni, the records you kept in your Das’s binder is quite impressive! I wish I could be a tenth of organized as that! 🙃 He is certainly a wealth of knowledge and that is such a cool car.
It blows my mine you don't have millions of subs yet the world just doesn't know what it's missing lol

Looks like Alex may of gotten married or sumthin?
I’m actually a huge Willy’s fan I’ve found several for sale but after I watch this I’m going digging for my Scotty Cannon killer red mater shirt
The binder is amazing!! Such a cool project!!
Traveled, wrenched w/a BB/FC in the early 80's I think. Lots of 92's went through that thing, eventually it had a couple of Donovan's were it. Lot of trips to local machine shop to mag cranks. It was around the time KB's were taking over. To get it in a Nation event show usually the blower wound up hanging from the fuel lines. it had some kind of connection to KS!
Can’t wait to see your 55 in person at Chicago and obviously all the other cool cars there. Thanks
Fine tyres on that dragster outside the shop door.
Making me miss my 41 coupe built it 91-92 with a blown 392. The only place to get hemi stuff then was from Joe Reath at Reath Automotive. Sold it around 2006 its somewhere in Oregon now.
Great handmade stuff Dennis, don't worry about forgetting names etc, I'm a 60yo musician and I have the same SPECIAL forgetful talent !!
Your literally working on my dream
Voice over is great.
This reminds me of my daughter working with me years ago.
I'm jealous of all the "stuff" Dennis has

Alex, don't feel bad: the human mind retains important info. & deletes unimportant info. 😉 Happy Easter.
41. Willys is my all-time favorite car right now I have a 55 Chevy post car and a 56 Nomad
Great watching you two reminiscing, and Alex getting dirty!! 😅😊
Great video Would definitely love to see it drive again
I have always thought one day they'll ( the Taylor's) Do Something with the Blue 41 Gasser for some vintange Race. Man, so glad to see you pump Life back into my Fav Gasser (A 41 willy's) Fav since I went to the Last Lion's Dragstrip race in Dec 72, my first Drag race ever.
Good video, glad the motor isn't hurt. Gassers and F/X cars are what got me addicted to drag racing as a kid (yes I'm old 😁) and still love it. Can't wait to see it at the track
Stoked to see this car come back together. Blown first gen Hemi's are Badass !! 🤘🤘
Videos with you dad are always great, add a Hemi and a Willy's, and can't be beat. Wow interior of that motor is nice, glad it wasn't hurt.
Moon Eyes sweatshirt on Alex. Period correct.. Love it.
What a wonderful Father / Daughter relationship 😊. You guys are blessed to have a common passion of racing / cars

That was/ is a beautiful piece Dennis.
That is so great to see the Willys getting some much needed attention. The information Dennis puts out about this build has my undivided attention. I can't wait to see more. Many thanks for this update.
Great content...So happy to just see the immediate family without any contribution from those that are not Taylor family...Nolan is like family and enjoyable to see him
Awesome car...keep living the dream ✨️
Thanks for the fast forward video tip
Really enjoyed this! Looking forward to the next chapter in the Willy’s revival. AND… the voice overs were a plus A+?😂
I have a photo of the 55's BENT spindles! That thing was pointed at the MOON!
Glad to see the old projects get some attention
Dennis, I'm 81' and I can't remember names in 10 sec and there after. Don't feel lonesome. Oh I've had this problem for quite sometime. Keep up the great video's.
I hear Angles sweet murmurings... i always hear Angels when a video drops. I heard Angels right about when Alex began to talk, you might say a coincidence but i think not!!!
Great stuff Alex - can't wait for the season to start
How's the new shop going 😀 I like any new content from you guys. What I would do is just replace engine. Work on it later. I like what you do,will stay watching 🤗

I'm in South East Louisiana and in '05 I backed my '89 Iroc Z in my garage. I bought it new in 1988 and used to drive it weekends. Well it' haven't been out since then. So I know how it is easy to have time slip away .
Hopefully we'll have a good track to run on at Bonneville. See you on the salt!
Great video. Dennis is amazing in what he knows. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.

As always, delightful❕️Alex, thanks💙, Meg ❤ thank you❕️& Denis ( teach ) Thank You, the 392 Hemi is like you said, " a thousand H P. engine, built like a 5,000 H.P engine. So very many, and all top shelf parts. So glad you kept most of your cars. And your right, you have a huge hard drive, it's the old in us that doesn't let us retrieve it fast as we once did, but it's all still up there. Thanks Taylor Family. Love yall 💙🧡💜💚❤. ✌🏻🧡 🇨🇦.
Man I can't believe you didn't want to work on that beautiful Willis you built I know you put you heart and soul in that car and I'm sure you did your best work when building that car I love gasser and 33 and 40 Willis has been my favorite cars sense I was about 12 years old I will be 63 on the 15th of April and Willis gasser are still my favorite other then a 55 post if you only knew how many people that would love to own something that nice.
