I'm a mechanic in NZ. We had a decommissioned International 1970s fire engine to fix and then i got to deliver it to the owner 20 miles away. They haven't been used for years in the NZ fire service, but people still recognize it as a fire engine so on the motorways people see it and get out of the way for you. It was the best run i've ever had on the motorway. And no I didn't use the lights and siren.

my mate said he works on fire engines that are still in service. that red bar is for strengthening/support rod. that is not used to hold it up, it's being compressed up with cylinders, pumped up manually and for to release you let the air out :D

@@oneway_sting You can clearly see it is bolted to the chassis in the front end and the back end is secured only with a pin. Pull that pin and the red bar can move. I don't think you would support anything with a loose pin... you can see it clearly at 10:43

The ladder is a LACON 13.5 metre ladder, it weighs 100kg, and is usually removed by 4 men! Its a great bit of kit, really strong. Ring your local fire station and ask them for advice.

To get the cab tilt to work remove the ladders first not by the line 😂 turn the cab tilt button on then put the cab lock into the raise position, go to the near side front locker. Should have a non latching switch near the top of the locker and that will raise the cab electronically. In the engine bay is a big red bar. That is the safety prop and I would definitely use it. Drop me a message if you need any more info.

Very painful to watch oh lol. As I know by experience every UK Emergency vehicle has a engine cut off switch that is what that buzzer noise is , you have to switch that switch then it should then start up. Also there are many different switches that do things normal vehicles do not have like power inverters , generators auxillary lights scene lights , Two tones , whalers whelpers and warning horn etc , also many UK Emergency vehicles had uprated more powerful engines and drivetrain than standard vehicles as well as extra alternators and batteries and recharge systems for the extra power that the additional equipment uses and to save the batteries going flat but sometimes these recharge units can fail. This Dennis fire engine should have a decent sized water tank and pump system and if you have the equipment that came with it can also link up to a external street water supply via a manhole cover on the pavement and I think you pump water out of places that have flooded too. Hope this helps. Our family have owned and ran many ex emergency vehicles one we had was ex London Ambulance A custom UVG Laserline bodied LDV 400 Convoy based with a 4 speed Automatic and a Rover 3.5 engine with two alternators for the additional equipment that was used during service , to say it was quick was a understatement lol , it was all original including working blue lights , scene lights , two tones and air suspension inside was very big and spacious with cupboards night heater everything still in place and original and with power steering for 3.55 tonnes was a hoot to drive. We purchased it because we needed to move house and could not find anything else for the money and we paid 625 pounds and went to Essex to get It in 2015. when we were cleaning the inside out the next day we found the estate keys for unlocking the barriers on housing estates and new unused needles and other medical stuff from 2005. We welded in new fllor pans and steps and fixed the leaking windscreen rubber and After a year of owning the Ambulance we did some research and found out it was on scene in the 2005 London bombings and we also found out that as of 2018 when we had it there were only 22 left in the UK! , so very rare indeed. we sold it in March 2019 and the new owner loves it.

If the hydraulics fail the cab won't come down slowly it will be instant. Use the red prop.

Just love the way you tug on the ladder extending line as though the ladder will then roll off the mounting. That 464 has not been off that gantry in a while and just needs a damn good tug whilst releasing the two rear catches. There should also be a safety chain you haven't released which is why the top extension extended as you pulled the ladder back. We had to fit central locking on all the lockers as 'mummys little darlings' had great fun stealing life critical equipment..that's when they weren't lobbing bricks at you.
