hyundai/kia and genesis have been popping bottles for the last 5 years or so

I purchased a Kia Stinger GT based on Doug's review and ownership experience. In fact the first thing I did when I got the car is turned to my family, proudly flailed out my arms and yelled, "THISSSSSSS is a 2021 Kia Stinger, and in fact it's MY Kia Stinger." Thanks Doug for introducing me to such a cool car, I'm thrilled with it! I appreciate your content and how much fun you put into every video!

A three year old Mercedes is ready for the junkyard the way they're made unless you buy a longer warranty or should I say service contract, they're not warranties, When I read the title I thought Doug was pulling a Scotty with his hokey clickbait titles, like I bought the new corvette which was a recent one or any number of his bye titles, I think he has at least two or three a week and the this car or that just changed the game, the changed the game titles are almost as numerous.

I've had my 2019 Kia Stinger (Base model) since it came out. It's been such an awesome experience, that after my 3 year lease ended, I decided to purchase it. At 40k miles, it still drives like its new, still is fun to whip around, and still looks great 4 years later. Kia as a brand has come such a long way and if you are considering a stinger (new or used), I highly recommend you get one. Great car.

I actually work in sales at a Kia dealership. Before I got the job, I (like many others) thought Kia was just Hyundai's cute lil brother that made the Soul. However, since I started working for Kia, I've absolutely fallen in love with the brand! It's not just the Stinger, the redesign of their flagship SUVs in the Sportage and Sorento combined with the introduction of the Telluride, and even their new, more compact vehicles like the Seltos and Niro have done a complete 180 for the brand. I'm a Ford guy for now, but I know I won't be for much longer. As soon as I have the money, I'm buying a Kia (likely a Stinger!)

Great review. Honest review. I own a 2020 GT Limited (Canada's version of the GT2). Listening to BMW drivers talk about their better performance (when they won't go head to head) is akin to Hemi owners who get great gas mileage until you drive with them. I would encourage everyone to take a Stinger for a drive. Don't tell your friends that you did. Just take it for an honest drive. I'd did. I could have easily bought a 440 with the M Sport Pack, but didn't want to. This is better.

I saw a slate gray model of this car parked on my street about a year ago before I knew what it was and I was absolutely shocked about how cool it looked, nice to see it has the Doug stamp of approval!

Got my certified pre-owned 2019 Kia Stinger in the low $30k’s. Only had 14k miles on it and after 3k miles I got no major complaints.

I probably bought the cheapest Stinger in my region (for now). It's a GT, given, but I got it for 29,500 CPO, AWD with 12k miles.

When you said "I've already got the E63s replacement, and you'll never guess what it is", you were right, I never would have guessed a Stinger.

i had a 6yr loan too i paid it off in 26months. and i still have it, having a almost brand new vehicle with its factory warranty still and all paid off is the best feeling ever. should just pay that loan off as fast as you can plus it saves you a ton of money paying it off early

Something which I remember from Top Gear when Clarkson and May were making a commercial for the VW Scirocco. The guy who they were working with whose profession is to make commercials said "instead of saying it's a great car but they ruined it by putting a diesel, you should rather say they improve the diesel by putting it in a Scirocco". This is the attitude we should have towards this car. We should be saying they improved Kia by making this car and not they ruined a great car by putting a Kia badge.

A month ago I almost bought the Stinger but went with another older cheaper option to save money. Really making me regret it, but thankfully I don’t expect to keep my car for over a two years so let’s see what Kia does with it. If not, pull a Doug and get a 2020 in a few years. Until then, I think people will learn to appreciate Kia and the Stinger more.

@spicy tomatoe And I've had mine for over 2 years now, coming up on 35K miles. Only "major" things I've done have been oil and filter changes. Paid less than $40K OTD and I've been pretty happy either keeping up with or beating other cars that are $20K - $30K more. Currently at around 460 HP and 520 lb-ft of torque.

I got the same one and I couldn't agree more! I have a 1994 Lotus Esprit and the Stinger is better handling and performing. Considering that the Lotus still holds up to most of today's sports cars in regards to performance and handling than that makes the Kia one hell of a sports sedan. It puts a smile on my face every time that I drive it.

I hope there is at least a somewhat noticeable bump in sales, they are amazing, a dealership I worked at for a couple years had a few stingers and I drove a blue GT3 AWD around and it was super nice! I think if you got at least a bare 19 gt3 it would fix everything Doug had an issue with bedside the badge

I sell Mitsubishi’s and I sold a lady with a Lexus who was cross shopping with Lexus. She was between the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL vs the Lexus RX350 and I got her to take the Mitsu lmao. It was mostly an economical decision considering a fully loaded Cross is almost half the cost of the Lexus lol.

just sold my Audi A5 Sportback to buy Stinger GT2. I am really impressed, rides much better than A5.

I'm so glad Doug bought the Stinger GT, couldn't fault him from any angle. It's the best Kia BMW ever made. This chap is the real-est car vlogger on YT. I'm just here because I saw one pull up at my job, it looked so cool and exotic with its shape and brembo brakes I started wanting one.

Nice! I actually have the same car except for a 2019 model and Rear Wheel Drive. My boss couldn't believe it was a Kia when I told him what it was. I would agree, but as a daily driver? Not sure. He already has two SUVs, and seems to prioritize efficiency and cruising for his daily/work vehicle. But he did say in a previous More Doug video (several months ago before the Defender came out) that he would potentially be in the market for one

He drives from San Diego to LA and back all of the time. A distance of 240+ miles... before you actually go anywhere.

I've had my gt1 for about a year and a half and its been amazing, especially with the mods that I've put

I love my 21’ GT AWD - I’ve modded it and it made me start an actual channel - I’ve had a lot of sick cars too.. last 3 were Lexus and by far the Stinger GT is hands down the best

Hey Doug, love your videos but have a comment on the 2018 Kia Stinger. You mentioned that people laugh at you buying a Kia. I have owned 3 Kia's. First a 2011 Optima 6 speed stick, loved it. never gave me any problems. Switched to the Kia Sportage S Turbo in 2013 which got totaled in an accident but also, never gave me any trouble. Then purchased the newer 2017 version SX Turbo. It handles well, is quieter than many other cars in it's class and came loaded with options that weren't even offered in other cars, even if I was willing to pay for them separately.. So I just wanted to say that after 3 Kia's, I am very satisfied, they give you a lot for the money. My son bought a Honda CRV SUV, 2019. The car was around the same price as my 2017 Sportage but came with only 1 engine choice. A weak 1.5 Liter 4 cylinder, he has to use the passing gear just to get on the highway. When I slam the door on my Kia, is it so much more solid than this Honda. My ride is so much more planted on rough roads and doesn't rattle at all. His Honda gives a much more bumpy ride. I have the 2 liter turbo and I used to drive for Uber. I never had a problem with power, even with 7 people in the car. So say what you will, The Kia gives you a lot for the money and has proven reliable. When you compare them to their sister cars, the Hyundai's, all the options and accesories are more expensive on the Hyundai's. Like the rear cargo mat was $90 on the Kia, a rip off I know but it was like over $120 on the Hyundai, for the same mat. So please be a little kinder to the Kia's. Thank you. I paid £50 for my previous diesel ford modeo. And fixed it for £0.50. Then a year or so later scrap metal value for it was £175.

I suspect the Kia Stinger is doing okay in Australia, as it's been released just as the rear-drive Holden Commodore was discontinued and this slotted directly into its spot in the market. I really hope they don't discontinue it

I love my Stinger and when I went shopping the Kia badge was a plus and not a minus for me. I like the relative anonymity this car brings. Most enthusiasts know what this car is capable. In Canada they were a hell of a deal too (similar pricing to a relatively basic 330i or C Class) and the engineers tuned the car really well. The handling is confidence inspiring but without a punishing ride. With winter tires and all wheel drive, this car is easily the best car I have driven in the snow. The practicality of the hatch should not be underestimated. My fiancee works at a Permanent Supportive Housing building and we get coffee supplies for her tenants. When we go to Costco it raises eyebrows when we load flatbeds of coffee, creamer and sugar into the hatch. Almost fit a BBQ in there too but the ceiling was a couple of inches too low.

J m176 I haven’t driven a Charger GT but I have rented a normal Charger before. Based on the rental experience I think the Charger feels a lot bigger and less nimble. The steering for the Stinger feels much though this is really comparing apples to oranges since the GT probably has summer tires where as my rental does not. I picked the Stinger because I wanted AWD and more practicality. In Canada, any Charger with the v8 is also more expensive.

The model 3 has a major nit: driven normally with traffic in fair weather the practical range is only around 230 miles. For commuting this is perfectly adequate. But if you drive a lot in a single day (like Doug) then range becomes a big issue. The stinger can go over 400 miles despite its “small” tank.
