Definitely worth there status.. own 2 vfrs and have no desire to part with them ever. The 5th gens are exceptional value at the moment, £1500 can get you a real beauty

That gear driven turbine whine is just amazing. I just took my 6th gen on a 6 hour trip around the lakes and my head hurts more from the helmet than than the rest of my body. I can say that its not so fun on bumpy back roads, but that's perfect for the Himalayan.

Fantastic choice bud l had an early 6th gen and loved it, keep an eye on those downpipes for corrosion unless its had stainless fitted and some of them had fragile electrics. Looking forward to seeing you out on her take care 👍

Thanks. It looks like stainless steel to me. I paid a bit more and got 3 years warranty on parts and labour, mostly for peace of mind.

I’ve had 2 Gen 5, still have one, 20k, great shape and great ride. Updated suspension a bit, re-greased and retorqued str.hd bearings, did the brake system, wouldn’t trade it.

I'm making a few changes to mine. I put bar risers on, and I'm still not sure I like them. I'm sure my suspension has been upgraded.

Very nice bikes they are Adam, congratulations. If I ever get around to selling the Mercedes, I could be tempted to get one for myself. Always liked them. An excellent choice even though, admittedly, it will lack the neck snapping shove of the Himalayan, so there's that 😂

True. I rode the himalayan to work today. That's my still my daily bike. I did around 200 miles on the vfr in rain and wind on Sunday. My body aches a bit but the bike performed well.

Nice bike, I look forward to seeing it and you at the Socialbags ride. It's the perfect stepping stone to a CBR1100XX. I bet it doesn't overheat, I bet the previous owner panicked at the normal running temp. Fan kicks in at 102°C on the Blackbird, it does go higher, this is normal.

It wasn't anywhere near over heating today. I always thought I'll never get anything above 1000cc but never say never. The vfr800 isn't intimidating.

Despite these being far rarer than the Richy Vida model,I remember reading a while back that the 5th Gen is the 1 to buy & nowhere near as heavy or wide! 😬👍 Now you take it easy for the first 1000 miles or so & don't be pulling any wheelies either! 🤪✌️

The 5th gen is meant to be the best version. I'm already looking at mods. New silencer, possibly new screed and bar risers. I think I few more mm will help with my back, as long as it doesn't affect handling.

@@EpicAdamMotovlogs Yes. I have both 5th and 6th gen VFRs. I prefer my 6th gen although they are both great bikes. I'm not that keen on the whine of the gear driven cams of the 5th gen. The 6th gen feels lighter and better suspension turns easier, has better brakes, better headlights. It feels faster because it is. When the V-tec kicks in at 6,800 revs it flies. The 5th gen is still a great bike. As I say I have both. My 5th gen, red like yours, has only 6k miles on the clock and is still like new the day it came out of the showroom condition. My 6th gen has 17k miles on it, silver, still mint condition and purrs like a Swiss watch. They were both one owner bikes. They are fantastic bikes. The only downside is that they are quite thirsty on fuel 35-40mpg which isn't great if you are on a longer tour. They are pedigree race horses compared to a Himalayan which is basically a donkey. Btw as a matter of urgency you need to upgrade the regulator to a Shendingen FH020 or 027 MOSFET if yours still has the original Honda regulator or indeed it has been replaced with some cheap Chinese crap. You can fit a Shendingen SH847 series regulator as fitted to say the Suzuki V-Strom but it is very expensive and an FH020/027 is a much more cost effective option. Check the connector blocks under the tank and seat that feed to regulator and generator if there is any corrosion, burning or melting then do the upgrade ASAP and hard wire in the new replacement regulator with power straight from the battery with a 30A resettable fuse. Upgrade the gauge of all the wiring. Also check the rear eccentric hub hasn't seized because if it has you can't adjust the chain also check the condition of the bearings to ensure they are not corroded or worn out, clean thoroughly and re-grease with marine bearing grease or replace with new. You might need a puller to separate the cush drive from the axle as if it has never been apart then the axle splines will be corroded and they will be impossible to separate without a puller. Penetrating fluids did nothing for mine. I had to use it on both my Sprint ST1050 and VFR800 6th gen to separate the hub axle from the cush drive Enjoy.

Awesome all rounder, have had a "few" and still retain a low miles 99 bike which gets rarely used. The VTec is also a monumentally good bike but opinion was always divided 😉

You don't need a fan on the rectifier just a rectifier that's up to the job which the std Honda one isn't nor are cheap Chinese crap ones. You need a Shendingen FH020 or 027 MOSFET or an SH847 series rectifier. The latter is very expensive where as the former are very affordable and plentiful costing about £50-60 second hand on Ebay, low mileage and in excellent condition. They are pretty straight forward to hard wire in and ensure your charging system is working as it should and won't leave you stranded when either the bike starts running rough, conks out or won't start as the battery is flat or fried.

Hell yes it does deserve its rep. I had one as a commuting and weekend tool years ago when I was less financially capable. I was forced to sell it when the exhaust rotted and I couldn't afford a new one. It's a bike I always missed. Apart from that it was comfy, sounded mega, had good performance, good fuel range, always started on the button, fuelling was spot on and it shined up wonderfully every time. The VTEC was a big step back, felt bigger, heavier, the engine didn't feel any torquier or more powerful, the VTEC kick was irritatingly placed, it introduced the need to look after Honda's shite CCTs and it just didn't have the same vibe.

I heard that vtec can be a bit dodgy, especially the earlier vtec models. I'm glad I got a gen 5 before vtec. I like it so far. I'm filming a vlog about my first 200-mile ride soon. I am also getting a new end can soon.

Did you actually own a 6th gen VFR or is this the sum of all the misinformation you have found on bikes forums about the 6th gen VFR? I have both 5th and 6th gen, each in excellent condition, low mileages and well looked after. The 6th gen feels more modern, has better std suspension, turns more easily, feels lighter, has better brakes, much better headlights and is easier to ride all day in the saddle. It also looks better imho. It is also faster. When the V-tec kicks in it flies. I find the whine of the gear driven cams of the 5th gen slightly intrusive and irritating although the induction noise on full throttle is great.

Slow control is surprisingly easy. Maybe because it has a low centre of gravity.

VFRs don't over heat if looked after. The manual fan switch would cause me some concern as to why it had been fitted. Has the thermo fan switch failed or do the fans still switch on as they should? The Haynes manual indicates that the fans should come on between 98-102C then off at 93-97C. IIRC the fans on my bike come on at an indicated 102C and off at 94C I can recommend a high level Delkevic stainless steel 350mm oval rear can. Not only does it sound a lot better it is so much lighter than the very heavy std Honda silencer. Be sure to use a rubber bush when mounting it though otherwise you will get lots of vibes through the seat from the engine transmitted along the exhaust and through the mount to the rear subframe and seat. The std silencer has a bush mount but most aftermarket cans have solid mount which is not good.

Mate I bought a Honda four hundred four supe f our 91 model Ladt dec but unfortunately broke my stump ,used it twice as rear sets are to high it causes me to much pain .Looking to sell it and pick up a supermoto drz etc .fingers crossed .Two bandit 600 aswell all minters .lets hope it’s a good year for nice rides .😂

I had a green VFR750 R36 and they are great bikes except that servicing them is a pain with the fairing needing to be removed even for an oil change, but they are reliable and very nice to ride.

I saw one vfr750 for sale locally but it needed a bit of work. This has some cosmetic issues but nothing major. I'm not looking forward to the service. Luckily it's just been done so will be a while until it needs doing again

​@@EpicAdamMotovlogs an oil and filter is not that difficult, I do my own on the 800 and I am by no means a competent mechanic. You just take your time, its only the left fairing and bottom that comes off for the filter and its a good opportunity to clean and wd40 things when the motor is partially exposed. Just use good quality semi synthetic as the book states

Lovely bike, Adam, with gear driven cams before Honda boo booed and went over to chain driven cams. Until very recently I owned a 2019 VFR800X which isn't a lot different to you bike so if you need any advice, etc., please let me know.

Fabulous 😍 You could go down to Plymouth to have lunch at MacPhersons Motorcycles, pop down the road to J & S and buy a Scorpion XO 1400 in red carbon to go with the bike 🏍 and be home in time for Emmerdale. Should only take 40 minutes each way on that thing 🤣

I had the black one. It is a very nice helmet. I'll be doing a bit of more riding this year now I have a faster motorcycle. I'll always enjoy exploring the lanes on a more relaxed bike though

That's a lot of bikes. I'm very happy with the vfr800. I woke up at 5am this morning and would have ridden to Wales if I didn't have work. The sun was just coming up. I reckon I could have got to North Wales by 7.
