I bought a $500 Portable GameCube

Ғылым және технология

On AliExpress I found a modded, portable GameCube made from a real Wii motherboard.

Yeah, not everybody wants emulation. Many people want authentic hardware. So, no. You didn't buy a portable gamecube, you just bought a PC powerful enough to pretend to be a Gamecube. There is a big difference. This was handmade by someone who actually has a passion for gaming. the hardware and the retro community. This is far cooler and more interesting than a person who buys something just so they can cringey youtube comments. But sure, act superior for owning a mass produced brick that's really good at playing make-believe. Even my phone can emulate GC, you don't see me bragging.

@@PloopChute that's exactly the point. This is a $500 waste of space. You can play gc on just about anything these days. To pay $500 for a chopped up wii board in a shitty 3d printed case is just ridiculous. I'm not bragging about my handheld I was pointing out the ridiculousness of this as a purchase. Also news flash my guy this thing is technically emulation as well LMAO.

I remember seeing these portable consoles as early as 2011-12 (back when NES & SNES portables were the easiest to make at the time, before portabilizing Wii’s got as easy as they did) but I was a kid so I could only dream of ever having one. Now that I’m an adult & I’m in a position where I could get one of these, albeit with months and months of saving up, there’s so many better options & honestly playing consoles on the go isn’t that much of a need let alone a want for me anymore.

I love the product and all, but one question. What about it being 3D printed makes it better? Everyone praises 3D printed things and im not sure why. 3D printing generally is pbvious by looking and a printer cant mass produce anything well enough to make a profit at a fair price. Not dissing anybody. I legitimately want to know what makes a 3D printed item great if it can be made otherwise. I understand there are some things that can only be done on a 3D printer, but this would look better if it was made in a silicone mold. The whole thing would be smoother and the seem would be much less noticeable. Not to mention it would take less time and you could reuse the mold to make more in even less time than that. 3D printing is great, but I personally dont see the point on most of it.

3d printing is a fad for people pretending to be creaters. the truth is 3d printed products look like absolute shit because most of the people making these products dont even know how to sand them and finish them or paint them properly

@@ebs777 not to sound cliche, bur I was really hoping I wasn't the only one who noticed some issues. I would like to have one. I just wouldn't use like everyone else does. Maybe to make replacement parts for things. Parts I can't buy without getting some kind of kit. Yet I'd still be trying other methods a lot of the time.

The 3D printed shell leaves a bit to be desired. I’d see if you can figure out a way to get the specs for printing a new one and maybe hire someone that’s actually good at 3D printing to make you a new one (don’t ask me how). Just a thought though. Besides that, and if you can look past it, it looks cool.

If My Faction had a story instead of just matches and allowed CAWs to be featured and for you to freely customize your Faction's Logos, Backgrounds, etc (outside of what they give you to put together, i.e. Custom Logos), then I think it might attract more people to the mode. I think WWE 2K Players basically see it as a Card Collecting Mode with just playing Exhibition Matches. We have WWE SuperCard for card collecting. Also, with how it cuts to matches and doesn't have entrances at all is a little bit of a drag. I'd rather have the option to watch or skip at my convenience. As of now, i tend to only login to the mode when there's a code that needs to be entered or if I'm wasting some time.
