Hyundai Santa Fe Rear Brake Replacement

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Wife's 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe was desperately in need of rear brakes so in this video I change out the rear discs and pads with new Juratek ones from Micks Garage.
This is not a DIY video so any learning or empowerment received from watching the material contained is purely coincidental. This video is for entertainment purposes only. Leave all auto repairs to a qualified mechanic.

Back off the hand brake adjustment before trying to remove the rotor makes it come off much easier. Great video!

Thanks for the video. I do brakes about every ten years or there about, so I came here for a refresher. My 2013 Santa Fe Sport made it to almost 100k miles before needing the rears replaced. So tomorrow I’ll give it a go.

Great video! I'm about to do the same job on a 2008 SsangYong Rexton RX 270 XVT. Same brake setup on the rear. Very straight forward. The only thing I could not understand with the audio was the TORQUE in Newton Metres for the brake caliper CARRIER (sounded like 17nm. This seems very light for a 14mm bolt. Should it be 70nm ?). Same goes for the CALIPER retaining bolts. Suggestion: On the video put a visual overlay of any numbers, particularly things like TORQUE specs. Very important. Or alternatively, quote the numbers in the description below the video. I also query the use of Copper grease directly where the brake pad meets the piston, regarding temperature ? Why not use high temperature brake grease, in little sachets, supplied by BENDIX etc. Excellent video, thank you. Robert

Great vid! One thing I do before screwing the caliper to the slide pins is pushing the pedal to get the piston out and seating the caliper in it's final position over the rotor. Sometimes the slide pins don't slide evenly on first installation and when that happens you end up with warped rotors (I found out the expensive way). Thereafter you can move your slide pins to where the caliper is and release any pressure by squeezing the slide pin boot.

I had the Tucson and the handbrake on that was always needing adjusted. Asked the main dealer to adjust it during its first service and they adjusted it via the cable which is the wrong way to do it and they charged me an extra £45 for the privilege so after that I'd adjust it myself via the drum. I got rid of it when the warranty ran out and went back to a Mini Cooper

Good you don't need locking wheel nuts in NZ or is that just the area you are in? I wish I could dispense with them in Blackpool, UK. No chance! Great video. I have enjoyed the Morris Minor restoration.

To release the tire is a little secret, just kick on one side and it might pop loose, to remove the disk the screws can be rusted in there, they make a impact screw driver you hit with a hammer to get it loose, if replacing the parking brake pads you will need a long screw driver and a vice grip to get those springs back on
