    Very helpful! Just bought a 2023 Kona Limited 1.6 & had no clue about that awd lock button until this video! I'm used to driving AWD vehicles that are always AWD i.e. Audi Quattro & Mazda CX5 so no buttons to push for awd. My take on this car is that it's in "awd" automatically as needed WITHOUT the awd lock button on. So AWD LOCK is only for driving thru deeper stuff that one cannot get out of. Thankfully I saw this as I thought I could just push the awd button & have awd on all the time, not knowing it already is! FWIW, I think Hyundai should put yet another hang-tag on the steering wheel to explain the awd lock for those of us coming from awd vehicles as this is something totally new to many. I'm reading the owner's manual & looking at KZread & forums to learn more. But I was dead wrong thinking the AWD LOCK was how one turned AWD on. NOT SO!!

    Hey! I have a quick question. For someone in a snowy climate, what do you think is better? An used audi quattro (around the year 2019) or a brand new kona AWD? Both options cost the same....

    Your Comment here Thankfully answered my question!! I thought the same thing. I love the Sport mode too when I need to pass someone. I do miss my Toyota RAV4 and it was almost paid off🤦‍♀️but never had AWD hoping it does well this winter. Be safe! ❤

    Did the dct transmission give you a warning or heating problems? Some say that this transmission is not so good for off roading because it heats up quickly, and I was surprised by how good the Kona did in your test. thank you in advance I am considering buying one.

    Nobody ever shows these all wheel drive vehicles getting sideways and sliding. I really wish somebody would start doing that in their videos. I know it does not matter to 99% of the people out there, but for those of us who are racing enthusiast, it absolutely determines whether or not I buy the car. It’s why I have a cross trek

    Kona's awd is pretty fwd biased, I guess it's much harder to drift than Crossterk

  • @ianfairbanks1318

    @ianfairbanks1318

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@zzzgarage2704 it also depends on the amount of bias. the crosstrek in cvt form is 60:40, and even then i can hang the rear out pretty easily. but some awd systems- Honda, I'm talking about you!- are a joke and disengage above 15mph.

    Cornering lights. Looked like the high beam was turning on when the wheels were pointed left or right. By law you can't have high beams and fog lights on at the same time, so when the high beams came on as the cornering lights, the fog lights have to turn off.

    I have a 2018 Kona 1.6t. It now has 9000km on it and I have been averaging 8.0 L/100 km with winter tires and it has been very cold here (Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦). I drive mostly highway to work 100 km each way and I track my fuel with the Gas Buddy app. I expect once the warmer weather comes and I put the all season tires back on I will be getting much better consumption. Just a side note: this vehicle is a beast in the snow. I can get up my driveway which is now a sheet of ice (120 ft. uphill)with minimal effort. My wife has a Jeep Wrangler and I feel safer in my Kona to be honest. I love my Kona! Cheers!

    2020 kona i noticed if you set it to 55mph -60mph on a perfectly flat highway no ups, it can get between 45-50mpg. Country side if you allow it to slow quite a bit going up hill and gain speed slowly, you can get over 42mpg even with hills. If however you force the car to do say 55 in county, you will see the numbers drop dramatically down closer to 34 even 30mpg with hills. This is with the 2.0 litre awd Sel trim. I was shocked at how good it does with gas.

Are they factory stock or all weather, or winter tires or full on winter studded tires? Big difference. Please include this information like this "Hyundai Kona AWD / LOCK Demonstration (Winter 2019) using ???? tires" Fill in the ???? with the missing information.
