I bought a 2022 Ioniq 5 Rear Wheel Drive, SEL trim $48,000 sticker (I would not pay above sticker - they tried to get me to pay $4000 over sticker and I told them to pound salt) in late January this year. I was One of the first of 800 people to own one in the good old USA. 303 miles of charge and my gesso meter showed me 359 miles of range the other morning. The transaction price was $52,700 and I got a $7500 federal income tax credit. $45,200, the most I’ve ever paid for a vehicle in my 46 years of driving and owning vehicles. The sticker was too high to get a Connecticut incentive…… $2250 bummer. The wife almost divorced me - but two days or so later - after I bought the car, she was talking to me again. Imagine the price you pay for a car will be paid back to you every year until that car cost you a net of nothing. I’ve driven 16,000 miles and saved approximately $3000 in gasoline. I have solar panels on my home since 2012 and my “gallon of gas” cost $.32 for the rest of my life. (25 miles of go…….BTW: I am not only frugal but drive like a very old 60 year old man and get 4 miles/kWh) The acceleration in Eco mode is more than I would ever need in any situation. I think I have a seven second 0 to 60 in sport mode. I only have one motor on the rear wheels and 225 horse. It is bar none, the best car I have ever ever ever bought or driven. I get free charging at electrify America, 30 minute sessions, for two years with the purchase of the car. I have four 350 KW 800 V charging pumps within 6 to 8 miles of my home. Seven 150 KW pumps. My brother who had a stroke and I check on him all the time - lives right next to one of the stations. In the winter the highest charge rate is about 40 KW. In the late spring through early fall I easily get 256KW and it takes 17 3/4 minutes to put 225 miles of range on my vehicle, faster than any Tesla!!!!! :-) Again, my winter speed is .22 as fast. Five times longer to get that same distance in range, One and a half hours to get 225 miles of range….ouch. I have had to call Electrify America and reset charging stations. One electrify America charging station - like the one that you used and automatically started - has a problem and that’s why you don’t have to log into the app or pay anything. I think Volkswagen and electrify America are going to do fine, and they are building tons of new stations and they are making sure those stations are working. In your video I wanted to reach out to you and ask you to plug-in to the charging station that says it’s not available or not working, I find the screen is wrong or it charges you for free and you don’t even have to login. I will be driving across the country soon and I will really get to Test Electrify America besides the two near my home. I also heard that Elon was going to allow me to charge at the Tesla superchargers???? I don’t believe there’s any problems charging today and the future gets brighter and brighter. That being said, I am retired and old and my time is worth zero!!!!!! That hour and a half nap in the winter is probably required for a male of my age!!!!! :-) The autonomous driving is impeccable and I basically do nothing as I wiz down the highway, perfectly in the middle of the lane and situated exactly how far I want to be away from the car in front of me……… There’s like four settings. It will come to a complete stop if it needs to all by itself and it will go back to the 65 mph setting that I set, all by itself. The ride quality is great and the no noise in the cabin is great. I would have never ever considered buying a Hyundai and now I own one.

Another cool use for the sliding console is for working in the car. If you sit in the back middle seat with the front seats all the way forward and the console all the way back, it makes a great place to sit a laptop. Pair that with the plug under the seat and all of the space back there with this setup, and you've got a nice mobile office. Aside from being able to work from anywhere, it's good for taking Zoom meetings in the driveway (with virtual background) when there's too much noise/distraction in the house.

Great review! My parents just picked up an Ioniq 5 in July and they love it. About a year ago they never thought they'd be driving an EV, but here we are and they are charging it from solar! Great car for the everyday person that doesn't really care about all the latest tech that Tesla's have. Also, for EA, they actually use like 4 different companies stalls. So my guess is the first one (Signet I think) has the tech to be able to basically plug and play, whereas the second one you used probably doesn't.

Also you have the 150Kw vs. 350Kw charging stations. On the last charge, he was plugged into a CHAdeMO charger so limited to, I believe, 150Kw. His charging experience might have changed significantly if he'd found a 350Kw charger and seen the 200+ Kw charging speeds that the Ioniq 5 is capable of.

Hey Mike - great video, thanks. I’ve seen a couple of these around on the motorways - usually passing me in my Model 3 LR lol. I had HUD in my old Merc & I thought it was a great feature - although can be distracting too. Look at all that apple pie you had to eat lol ❤ Can’t wait to see the Cybertruck!!

That was a great review. It was my number 2 car of choice but luckily my Y LR showed up in June. Since I have a CCS adapter for my car, I usually run into Ioniq 5 when charging. Every owner that I talked to loved their car. Still the Tesla Supercharging experience is much better than all of the other Supercharging services by far.

A very enjoyable, personable, down-to-earth review. Thank you! I would gladly relinquish my 2018 Model 3 RWD for a Limited Ioniq 5 IF… I could get one. They are, unfortunately, so very scarce that the sole Limited model I can find with my preferences is all the way across the country on the right coast. Tsk. Yes, the DCFC networks need improvement to match Superchargers, but this will happen over time. My only real complaint with the Ioniq 5 is that it doesn't have a rear window wiper, a necessity for SUVs.

I’m waiting since I got in line in August - I live on the Right Coast but am a Californian in my heart (once and future?) - seems like Hyundai hit a difficult patch with supply to the USA and never made enough Limiteds to meet demand. The upside of this is that I’m going to get the 2023 with the slightly updated handling. So that’s nice. Love your comment. Comparing a bunch of EVs, none of which are actually available is annoying and there are far too many videos on KZread that don’t acknowledge the supply constraints

I love the car so much I ordered one back in November last year, just last week I was told it is on a cargo ship heading to Vancouver, so I am very excited to say the least, and it is no longer a 2022 Ionic 5 (top trim) it is now the 2023 with the much desired battery preconditioning (a feature especially useful here in Canada to warm up the battery during your route to the charge to insure maximum charge speed). By the way those 350KW chargers would have taken 5-8 minutes off your charge times! Great video, that Tesla Long range RWD was one of the Tesla's I was looking for a couple years ago. By the way I also reserved a KIA EV6 top trim and it came in in Mid April, but back then my Ionic 5 was to have been delivered in May so I let that one go (they told me 2 days after that it was going to be the fall), but I think I still made the right choice, the head room, light interior make the Iconic 5 much more desirable to us.

Hyundai did *not* use battery pre-conditioning on the original 2022 Ioniq 5 models. How to penalize your customers! Thanks, Hyundai. I would give up so many "features" of the Ioniq 5 to get the pre-conditioning since the majority of my driving is done in cooler/cold weather. It would make a *huge* difference.

@@ScubaSteveCanada There are 2 TSB's that you can installed at the dealer on 2022 models with Winter mode to upgrade to pre-conditioning. I had it done in May of this year on my 2022 RWD.

I own the SEL trim level Ioniq 5. Like you, it is the second EV in my stable and I chose it because of the affordability. Its a great car and my Electrify America experience has bee a positive one.

Thanks for the review. My wife is getting a fleet car for work and has the choice between the ionic5, model3, I’d-4, and a machE. She is picking the model3 but this was a close second. The more videos I watch of this car the more I like it, the styling is great I just with the interior was a bit more upscale.

Looked into ordering one earlier this year, dealers wanted $6-10K markup her in southern CA. The only model they would sell at minimal markup was the one with the smaller battery.

Great & un-biased report. You have confirmed my first thoughts & impressions of the Ioniq 5. A good choice because of the quality, features & price when compared with Tesla. I've owned Hyundai autos & they always seem to offer the extras as standard that you pay more for as options with other manufacturers. This gives Hyundai an edge every time...& they come through once again with this EV!

love this review. i went into my local hyundai dealership, they said the wait is 3-4 years for the top trim model and price can jump. So going to put in a deposit. Also placed in a deposit on a ev6, thatsmin2 years wait inmy area also. Apple pie judge,that's awesome, love the feel of this video! newsub!

The feature I like in the Ioniq 5 that I miss most in my Model Y are those grab handles above each door.

Great review...no Ioniq5 but we do have a 2023 KonaEV Ultimate trim and we love it. Only issue is charging speed...we put on a load of miles and do lots of road trips so having faster charging speed would awesome. I also love the look and design. Future feel without being futuristic.

No rear wiper is a negative in some climates, like where I live. I test-drove an i5 and couldn't see a thing out the back. Not a problem where you live though. Looks nice a sunny.

Great objective car review, if all the Electrify America chargers performed as you experienced I would consider either a Hyundai or Kia equivalent. Seem like really nice cars. I have a Y.

Great review @frugalteslaguy - the only thing that bothers me, is the steering wheel blocking the speed display. It would make more sense to have the speed displayed in the middle of that screen.

You use the HUD for seeing your speed, but true if your don't have a HUD that would be annoying with the wheel in the way

You look very fit for an apple pie judge. Great video

I now own an Ioniq 5. We looked at the Tesla Y but did not want to control everything through the screen. Even the glove box you have to open with the computer, or adjust the air vents. And if you want to see your speed, you have to look to the right. I like having some manual controls like volume, air vents, glove box, etc.

A really good review. However I can’t see what is so great about the volume knob on the dash. Every Tesla has one, the only difference is that theirs is a scroll wheel located on the steering wheel, which is far more convenient and you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to use it.

I like the Kia EV-6 because of it's better range due to better aerodynamics. The big drawback, compared to a Tesla, is the sparse CCS DCFC network.

On a 2019 Tesla model three SR plus and purchased a 2022 ioniq5 AWD back in April. Nicer ride than the model 3 but for long road trips I still prefer taking my model 3 due to issues with EA

@frugal tesla guy I believe you had to pay for the second charge because the "free" charging is limited to 30m per day. I still haven't purchased one but it's something I believe I read on the Hyundai or Electrify America sites. Thanks for the great review btw!

pretty sure you got lucky with the first EA charging...they were in the process of upgrading some backend software/hardware which took they're payment system offline for a lot of locations for a couple of weeks.....so everybody was getting complimentary charging....plus those units you used looked like the newer units which operate a little more smoothly...

Excellent video. Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an excellent ev. with comfort ride experience, spacious and also powerful. I own a SEL trim level which I really enjoy. However on the software side the navigation system is rather useless, so far there is no a good trip planner which can plan your charging stops during a road trip. Not even able to estimate your battery level when you input a destination. Hyundai doesn't frequently release software updates like Tesla does. Mine is 2022 and doesn't have battery conditioning to have it at optimum temp for charging at low temperature. hopefully 2023 will have that feature standard in all trim levels.

A bunch of really good points here - have you tried ‘A Better Route Planner’? I’m still awaiting my delivery (scheduled for Feb but they think they can make a January delivery, perhaps) - but this week I downloaded and tried ABRP on a 10 hour drive in my Diesel pickup for comparison. Of course, the battery pre-conditioning won’t work if I’m using ABRP - so I’ll have to fire up the on-board GPS on colder days when I’m in a hurry just before the stops. At the same time, I’m seeing others complain that the summer charging is fast enough (one reviewer said ‘too quick’ as he didn’t have enough time to eat his food and take a bathroom break before the car was ready to go again…). The trick will be finding the super high powered DC chargers working and available!

Mike, great video like all your others. Here’s a frugal question. Although you inserted a credit card on 2nd charging session, did EA recognize this vehicle has free charging? Does EA recognize vehicle through cable like Tesla or must you use an account number/password combination in phone app. My survey of over a dozen EA chargers on the east coast confirms greater than 1 out of 4 EA chargers defective. I’ve never seen 25% of Tesla chargers down, but that’s partially due to more than 8 at most Supercharger locations. Tesla chargers are significantly more reliable.

No, EA do not recognize the VINs. Mike may have lucked out on the first charger and received a free charging session.

I honestly don’t know how it works with EA. If I had the app installed under my friend’s account then it would have been free. Otherwise, it was just like a gas station. Pay then you get the “fuel.”

Professional presentation. The Ioniq 5 is not my preference but it wouldn't bother me to own one.

Having owned a base model AWD Ioniq 5 for over seven months, I am a very satisfied owner. It is our first EV and I had never driven any EV previously so I don’t have a lot to compare to. Teslas have a lot to offer but the cost difference was substantial. The more options the better for consumers.

I own a 2021 Model 3 SR+ and I'm looking at replacing my 2014 Mazda CX5. This Ioniq 5 video is perfect timing as this car is on top of my list. Not that I do not want the Y, it's about $20K less LOL.

Those wheels were on the press cars, every time I look at dealer inventory they come with the ugly ones. Are these wheels only available on specific trims?

Why not consider the Kona EV? Regarding Electrify America, I went to the only station in like a 76 mile radius that had 8 chargers and ALL were down except a single one, with 2 people in line so I had to wait about 2 hours just to charge mine. Unreal they don’t have faster support for such a large array.

I've driven my model three now for just over four years and love it! The Hyundai looks as if it would be a great family car with with a few of the old school buttons that make the transition a little easier. I was a little shocked to see $.43 per kilowatt at that charger. The highest I've seen in the Denver area is $.29

San Diego county is like 44 cents at HOME. 33 cents in So Cal. Tesla SC 57 gasp! cents. Electric does not save you money, it costs you TIME! Calif. we are being told to not charge at night ROFL because the solar farms are not on-line at night. Buy electric, but do not charge it.

I own a M3 (in the UK) but would seriously consider something like the Ioniq if replacing it because (a) I have a dog, and not having a hatchback is daft, and (b) this has a significantly larger towing capacity than the M3. The Model Y is more comparable on both of these counts, but I'm not sure if I can afford a second Tesla in one lifetime :-)

In my opinion, they should have some kind of way to display the charger is not working visibly before you pull up and get out. At the gas station, you would see a yellow cover over the hoses to let people know they are out of order. Maybe a yellow light could be displayed on top of the charger.

Good video. One question: Did you determine the efficiency, ie kWH per 100 miles. (I suspect you are seeing about 24 kWH per 100 miles on your Model 3.)

I glad that your first time charging at EA was positive. I think they need a PR boost after so much negative coverage about broken chargers and connection issues.

Picking up my new iconic five all wheel drive drove the rearwheel drive honestly amazing car if you have not driven one please take a test drive

I really liked that you were open to a non-Tesla and didn’t come in right off the bad bashing it for not being a Tesla. Also I’m glad you had a good experience with EA. Honestly it’s much better than the horror stories that you hear, mainly because negative items get clicks and views. I think your first session was probably at a station that was complimentary because I believe you need to use the all with the Hyundai to get the free charging.

I’m not sure if I missed it or not but what kind of auto cruise does the Ioniq have? I use Autopilot all the time in my M3P and it has turned into one of my favorite features. I had a Bolt before my current Tesla and one of the things I disliked most was the charge port as it was difficult to plug in especially in the dark. The Bolt was a fun easy to drive car and I miss it sometimes.

Have you had many issues with phantom braking when using autopilot. Apparently it can be a huge problem in many situations.

@@FrugalTeslaGuy Tesla rules when it comes to this technology. Hyundai's system is by no means "bad" but on freeways you must touch the steering wheel about every minute, on Interstates about every 4 minutes. It depends on traffic. I use it all the time and miss it in my Ford van.

@@ScubaSteveCanada That would be annoying. I think the driver attentive "fail safes" in all cars make these driver assistance features more dangerous. Just when you think you can relax and depend on the driver assistance technology, it abruptly tries to turn itself off.

Maybe I missed it, but what is the situation regarding tire noise? My only complaint with my M3LR.

Nice balanced review from Tesla perspective! The Hyundai and Kia EVs are both very efficient, near Tesla, and actually if anything charge FASTER than the Teslas, at least this new generation.. BUT, they are stuck w/ EA and other CCS networks... at least plug&charge, usually, works :) and 3 years free is pretty nice. I agree w/ your summary, they are good, solid affordable EVs. I wasn't very impressed at all w/ that map display, both laggy and very lacking in detail... I am SO spoiled by Tesla's huge Google maps including color sat photos, nothing else comes close. Tons of street and POI detail, super responsive, clear display of route & traffic, etc... it is useful for me to see and discover things of interest around me, NOT just as a "drive this line" navigation tool. Tesla's acts like a MAP, showing what is around me. The Hyundai HUD is a nice addition, but if it had a better map also,... Also, wasn't clear from your review, how the trip charge planning & search works? Is it as easy as Tesla's nav, just put in destination and all charge stops incl time are auto-added to route? I heard the previous generation Ioniq/Konas had NO charge/trip planning AT ALL! You have to use an app to plan charge stops... ridiculous. (VW's charge planning exists, but first iterations were very poor, not sure if they improved since few updates.) Easy charge/trip planning is a *critical* feature for any EV I think, at least ones you might roadtrip... and very few can touch Tesla w/ their vertically integrated supercharger network, since they know live availability and uptime for every one of their chargers... something other EVs can't easily do w/ all the 3rd party charge networks eg EA, Chargepoint, etc. Rivian seems to have SOME info on them chargers (how many, power etc), but don't think it has any realtime info re working or free.

For most of our driving the public chargers and route planning is not critical. We rarely travel far enough from our home charger to matter.

Excellent argument, Colin. Ev manufacturers must know how important it is to have a reliable navigation system with a good trip planner, unfortunately Hyundai- Kia is behind on this matter. even when their EV bright in other aspects. We hope that they improve the navigation system with software updates in the future.

I just got this about four days ago, rather have this over the model 3 . It’s a lot easier to get in and doesn’t seem plain like the model 3.

In comparison with model 3 & Y, which one is better especially in terms of cabin noise and smoothness of suspension?

I From the test cars I drove, both the Ioniq 5 and the EV6 are quantifiable quieter with much better suspension. Both the 3 and the Y are extremely noisy. I'm not sure whether that's because of the frame less windows. But there is a great deal of road noise on highways.

Wish it was available in every state. Can’t buy it In Wisconsin as far as I know.

They are still having major supply chain issues causing, not only manufacturing delays but lack of spare parts. Tesla are not having the same issues.

Looks like the bottom of the headrest is torn at 7:57... yikes!

The problem I have is the Hyundia dealer in my town is they want over sticker price with add-on over $2500 and all the crap in finance .

I have never had a problem with EA. Some of the complaints that I see are because they never used it before and don't use the app.

i think this is good review.. that said, I see this as Apples to an Apples comparison.(car vs. car features). After getting my Tesla, its more of an Apples vs. Orange now -- similar to iPhone(a computer) vs. Regular Phone (phone w/ some basic compute). Similar to moving to iPhone, my way of driving ("using a phone" is not the "traditional way" anymore. The new way of driving for me included 1.) Extensive use of Autopilot features while driving 2.) Use of SENTRY mode 3.) Just walk into the car -- No keys and no start /stop button 4.) Watching KZread TV, Netflix and others while on Park ... I'd continue to wait until there is a true Tesla computer competitor out there.. like the Android vs. iPhone

with tax rebates model y beats out this car. also good luck on getting msrp for this car. dealers are notorious for charging 10-15k over msrp for top trim like the one you drove. i keep reading that ea charging network always has broken stalls and no one repairs so that is a bit disconcerting, but i know all this because all last year been looking for an ioniq 5 to buy but couldn't find one, or couldn't find one without a 10k+ markup

Hi everyone, I have a 23 ionq5 limited Have owned the car about 10 months. I’m on my first long road trip. Things have been going fairly smoothly. You can’t be on a time dead line, which I’m not. The onboard gps does a good job on finding chargers, very accurate directions on getting to a charger. The big draw back is finding chargers that work. I would say without a doubt Tesla charging system is lite years ahead of all other EV,s. I don’t believe teslas are a better car, only their charging systems

EA has been upgrading their network. Some of their chargers are free while they upgrade. That's likely why the first stop was plug and charge. Also, the 2nd EA stop, you used the station that had the chademo on it. I try to leave those open in case any Leaf owners show up. Overall, it's easier to charge my model 3 than our other EVs. Especially, with the integration of available chargers and length of time to charge. Non Tesla, you need to know where the chargers are and how long to stay.

Nice to know. I will be charging at home 95% of the time but it will be nice to know that Electrify America will keep improving their charging Network.

Didn't you see the "Time to Charge" and live updates on the charger?? It's in the video, look again. The Ioniq 5 on the inside shows the same information. The Hyundai app shows the location of chargers as do many better apps. The Hyundai app is a piece of junk; many complaints.

@@ScubaSteveCanada Let me clarify as I didn't explain correctly. On a roadtrip, Tesla will say charge for 10 mins to reach next destination and also how long to stay at each additional destination for the duration of the roadtrip. The CCS chargers just tell you how long to charge until your desired %. It's up to you to know how long to stay/charge to reach the next stop. This is punctuated more during the winter, bad weather, or elevation climbs. Also, Tesla has integrated into the car letting me know where the chargers are, how many stalls are open, and will update directions/reroute real time when a location is getting busy. With our non-Teslas, the apps don't always say how many are working. The EA app attempts to. But, I've seen where it includes non functioning stalls as being avail. The chargepoint app is pretty good. Plugshare isn't actually tied to any real time updates. Overall, you need multiple apps and be good at planning with CCS/Chademo. We love all of our EVs. But, our Tesla is the easiest to travel long distance with.

Not a Tesla fanboy, would much rather have a Kia / Hyundai, or even a EUV. Prefer a FWD ev over RWD and or AWD

If you want to get a truck, the rivian r1t is expensive but amazing.

With recent price cuts to Model Y and 3, IONIQ 5 is no longer a good buy and you have to deal with stealerships. Went to quite a few in my area and the lowest markup was $2000! No thanks!! Charging experience with EA is a huge overhang, especially with recent price increases for EA. Regarding your truck purchase, why not consider Rivian?

The difference between the Ioniq 5 and the MY was 5K 2 weeks ago.out if the door after rebate on the MY. Now it's 3.5K. For what you get over the MY, that 3.5K is nothing. If I had to buy the MY, I'd definitely had either bought the Ioniq 5 or the EV6. But the difference with the M3 is 15K. I'm picking up the M3 next week. But I'm going to check the prices in 2-3 years and if the 2023 Ioniq 5/EV6 have depreciated faster than the M3, I'll upgrade to one of the Korean cars.

I think the way the Japanese would try to boost sales of a model year that was going to be replaced the next year ("Special Addition", ....), I think they need to make a "Sport" version of this car even if it is just cosmetic. I would love to see the car just like it is in gloss black with more sexy wheels. The got the interior and exterior styling right on!

Hyundai have an "N" version which is the speedy and ride tuned model coming to Europe but not necessarily North America.

you only hear the bad things online anyways, I love my EV6, so far no issues with EA.

I really don't like the screens. The bezel is gigantic and they are so square and in your face. Does seem like a great car allround. Seats look nice.

you need to drive a model y performance. it completely smokes this car with regards to performance, range, and charging network. having said that, I love the heads up display, the roof shade, and the style.

Lack of an HUD is the biggest issue for me in my Tesla model 3. I don't understand why this was omitted, it would not have impacted the styling or packaging of the car at all. Maybe it's a cost saving measure, which is very poor form for a car as expensive as a Tesla.

Why no HUD or driver’s instrument gauge panel in the model 3/Y ?? Simple! Elon Musk has a streak of Seinfeld’s “Soup Nazi” in him! “You take what you are given - no options and no arguing” 😳😳😬😬 Seriously though, most Tesla purchasers don’t realise that they are buying into “the Mission” upon buying a Tesla vehicle! The company is not like other car companies, that try to provide as many features and options, so as to gain a competitive advantage in the market place. No, Tesla are on a mission to electrify the world’s car fleet, and they will do that in the “cheapest” way possible, with the fewest options and most spartan interior possible! When you buy a Tesla, you ARE DOING THEM A FAVOUR by accepting a vehicle that is as cheap as possible to make, to advance Musk’s cult like mission. If want to buy a car where the manufacturer is falling over itself to offer you the best features and options, you’ll definitely need to bypass Tesla😏😏

@@Nicholas.TElon's business model sounds more like Henry Ford. "You can have any colour you want, as long as it's black." Those days are long gone but the reality is Tesla vehicles are expensive and rather boring body designs. At least Hyundai have a memorable design.

I could be mistaken, but I think that Elon considers a HUD to be unnecessary in a vehicle that will (someday?) be fully autonomous. I agree though that it would be nice to have a HUD in the car now, since autonomy certainly won't be here tomorrow.

How can you give a review after being with a vehicle over a weekend? 🤔

You did not mention how many buttons you have press everytime you drive… many, way too many.

Very Good review, I considered the Ionic 5 before I purchased my M3LR. But if I wanted all the upgrades it would cost over $50,000 and on top of that, the $10,000 dealer mark up really turned me off. It would be like you said, a nice second EV, especially for long trips with the family, seems a bit roomy and the back seats also recline, which it does not on the model 3 or even the Model Y.

@@GeorgeSteinerIsAwesome Mike was demonstrating the comfort seat for the front. The back seats are a 60/40 split with both sides reclining quite a bit and can slide back and forth for either better leg room or more cargo space.

Competition is wonderful. After Tesla announced the price drops, it was funny to see how the markups just melted away. In Atlanta, I still had a tough time finding the cars in the showrooms. But no one was talking markups anymore.

Is the car has Autopilot equivalent?

It is in fact better! No phantom braking and no glaring at other people at night because ap requires you to turn on your faulty auto high beams 😂

Not fan of the exterior design gimmicks; but what an impressive car to drive

@@FrugalTeslaGuy It has so many awesome features that I was really on the fence with the Model Y (sunshades, ventilated seats, androidauto...). At the end of the day, the only benefits with Tesla were the very short delivery delay, zero scheduled costly maintenance visits, and (for now) great resale value.

Thank you, really informative, but, to be honest, I couldn't get past the apple pies! I'm looking for an EV, my brother has a Model 3, which I have driven and love, but the price point is not something I'm comfortable with...but those apple pies...

My impressions: 1. I love the minimalist dash of my Tesla MUCH better than the Ioniq. 2. The glass roof of my M3 has never been a heat issue for me even though I live in an area that frequently gets above 100 F. 3. The sliding centre console of the Ioniq is nice. 4. The delay in acceleration would bug the heck out of me. 5. The Tesla supercharger network in conjunction with being able to use other networks is a must have for me. Summary: Nice but I'd never consider changing if for nothing else than point 5.

With Tesla opening up their charging network, it helps with concerns over Electrify America.

The Hyundai should be able to use the 350 kw charger but yeah at 45% you may not have gotten the full use out of it anyway

In regards to the interface not being up to Tesla levels, that's because Hyundai was smart enough to realize nobody want's to use their mapping software. They want to use their smartphone interface using AA/CarPlay. Somthing that Elon will never roll over for.

You may be right. However, I absolutely love Tesla navigation That said, I know there are others that would prefer to use car play or something else. It’s all about personal preference.

@@FrugalTeslaGuy it is a good system. I'm on the BYOD mindset now. The only thing that that needs to improve with a software update is the car knowing where AA or Carplay is set to take you. That way if you set to stop at a Level 3 charger the car will precondition the batter 30 minutes prior to arrival. As of now it only works on cars built after July 2022 and only if you set the destination of a Level 3 station in the factory navigation. Ford productions are able to give turn by turn prompts in the drivers display now based on what your phone is saying to do. So it seems that level of communication is possible

Putting bags full of shopping in the front foot well would be a hazard. There is no centre barrier to stop items rolling or sliding onto the driver side, potentially obstructing the pedals.

A lot of people ignore the laws of physics when they load the car. People often put tissue boxes or knick-knacks on the dash or rear deck because they drive so slowly. They are not ready for any emergencies.

I use it for my backpack or if I’m taking my daughter to school, for her backpack. That isn’t going to move anywhere. It’s very useful.
