You guys seem extremely comfortable with ECU work. A good point has been made though! If you're worried about warranty, don't modify your cars. Lol However, regardless of the process, I don't think a little tuning should be completely avoided, even if you're not an engineer graduate. As long as you're listening to these tuning companies and not intentionally cheaping out on required hardware you should be okay. There's always risk with tuning, but follow the cookie cutter route and you should have tons of resources to go off of. For example, you guys. It's really cool that you guys are putting this out there for people interested in SXTH tunning or just tuning in general. Great guide guys.

Can you make your own maps, or do something like adjustments to timing? I have a JB4 currently, and would like to switch to this, but it is a lot of money to buy this and the ECU, and want to make sure it’s worth it.

In my opinion - You only modify this car if you go to tracks a lot cause as it - testing it my limit it requires no modification cause with ESC turned on normal roads it wheel hops if you go real hard as it has damn too much power and turning ESC off makes tyres spin hard so pretty dangerous for normal roads but if you bought it for track fun then yes go for modification. Warranty is nullified in Australia if you modify and Insurance will nullify the cover too. This car is cheap for what it offers and is so powerful as it is that in my opinion every 5 years buy another version of it if you are happy with it. The beauty in Australia is that warranty covers it on tracks as long as you are not in competition race. Just my opinion :)

300 WHP isn't that much specially when you have such a great traction control and LSD set up the Elantra N. The wheel hop is most likely due to the engine mounts and if you swap the lower engine or might be trans mount to a urathane one then it should eliminate that wheel hop. I've driven a 500 Front wheel HP car with no LSD , no power steering and I was able to street drive it with zero issues. It was a 5 SPD manual trans too. You just gonna learn to handle the power you have and feel the car so you are able to put the power down.

When logging are you flooring it or just giving it a good amount of throttle? And what do you mean by “revision” does sxth send a revised tune or something?

  • @ryansviews

    @ryansviews

    Жыл бұрын

You hit the throttle 100% all the way to redline, then afterward you take the data log and send it to sxth. They will take the log and make a map revision for your car based on the data. You upload the new tune revision and then proceed to take more data logs. Rinse and repeat until car is maxed out or making desired amount of power. :)

Before you did all the upgrades to your car did you ever become a pro at the octane learning? I am so nervous about voiding warranty. I would be happy If I could just get the dang octane to learn. But I can never get it to work. Any tips?

Will and I actually responded a bunch on this topic on a reddit thread. We have a lot of thoughts on it, look at pattyboiofficial and used tissue gaming for us. Hopefully this helps TLDR I wouldn't worry about octane learning. A lot of people like JB4 because it's easy to remove I think, may be worth looking into if you want to tune

How does the normal SXTH element stage 1 tuned ECU swapped with the normal ECU affect the warranty? I feel like it wouldn’t void it since you still have the normal ECU in tact and can be put in at any time. Just want to confirm that and see what y’all have to say about it!

I am torn between the Elantra N, Civic SI, GR86 and maybe even New WRX. I realize the large differences between these models but I think they could all be a good daily which is what I need. Size wise the GR86 is the most impractical. The only other thing of concern is snow driving. Sometimes where I live we get a couple inches at most but have gotten upwards of 10 before although in that case I just wouldn't leave the house except for necessary trips. I would appreciate any input you all have!

Both Elantra N and Civic si are FWD. I like Elantra N better because it beats most cars in driving fun but since u live in a snowy town the WRX might be the car for you.

@@aono335 It not so much that I get snow often, its just during winter we can sometimes get a decent amount. I know none of these are going to perform ideal on snow. The WRX would work the best but only marginally better without winter tires on any of them anyways. I'm trying to get the best bang-for-the-buck in fun and overall value. I like what all 4 models I am comparing have to offer. Its so difficult ahh lol.

@@envious4504 Even with big snow falls, how long are roads really bad before they get plowed? I live in the biggest city in Canada (Toronto) and we received a big 70cm snow fall this past winter over a 24 hr period. The whole city was screwed and not even a Subaru was going anywhere and the whole city got stuck out an about or didn't even get chance to leave their homes in the morning. But by next day everything was back to normal and main streets all clean and drivable . Then in normal snow falls a FWD with good winter tires is good to go. Now if you live up north and in areas where plows don't run as good as main cities then I can see AWD being very beneficial.

I was going between the same four choices. Almost landed on the WRX but last minute did some more homework on the EN and stuck with it. I don’t regret it at all. Fun, practical, performance ready and fairly unique. Nice infotainment and digital dash. I’m not sure about snow performance since I live in Florida but what most people on the subreddit (who live in cold climates) do is just invest in a winter wheel setup. The subreddit is a good spot to poke around in if you wanna see most of your questions answered and get an idea of what issues people have had.

  • @Boosted00

@@Kingwavve You made a good choice i think, the only advantage or any reason I'd take the WRX is cause the AWD, not necessarily because of snow/winter but more for putting power to the ground in all weather , even summer when all other performance cars are out of storage and enjoying good weather. Even stock the EN has issue with wheel spin and putting the power down. Now imagine running 400 HP even with sticky R compound tires. Rest of the WRX doesn't appeal to me one bit , i think the exterior doesn't look the greatest.

I read it has to “patch” for the first time it is set up to your car, some say use a battery charger but others say it took a couple short mins and they were good. Is this true?

  • @pattyboi

I would play it safe and have it in a charger. If you're feeling risky, drive it for a bit to make sure the alternator has charged up the battery fully.
